I was looking for the best practice to use anchor tags...
-
Seomoz says NOT to use your anchor terms on other external pages as you will cannabilize your main page - this is news to me. Appreciate any input on this.
-
Ah now I see. Outbound to other sites. Yes you definitely don't want to do that!
-
Guys, after reading this again, I realize I misunderstood - NOT in the anchor text of outbound links --- OUTBOUND LINKS...this makes sense not to anchor tag your keyword terms to outbound websites...thanks!
-
This is what I've understood as well...thanks.

Was using the "term extractor" in seomoz, this is what I found (see last bullet)...
How Can I "Perfectly" Target a Term/Phrase?
Keyword density and repetition are poor systems for measuring the targeting ability of a page. The search engines are more likely to employ systems like term weight, which calculate keyword usage both locally (on your site and page) and globally (throughout the web). Since this metric is impossible to measure without access to the search engines' indices, the best thing to do is follow these basic rules - use your primary keyword term/phrase in:
- The title tag at least once (usually no more as this can appear spammy)
- The H1 header tag of the page
- At least once in a bold or strong tag
- Several times in the body text of the page (at least 2-3X and more when appropriate)
- NOT in the anchor text of outbound links - this indicates to the search engines that another page (the one you link to) is relevant to this keyword phrase and can cause issues of additional competition or keyword cannibalization
-
I think the posting you are referring to is this: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-solve-keyword-cannibalization
The posting does not say that the use your anchor terms on other external pages will cannibalize your main page. The problem comes when you link to multiple pages on your site with the same anchor terms.
The suggestion is to use the same anchored term on multiple relevant pages throughout your site to link back to the home page (or desired page). The idea is not to optimize various pages on your site for the same keywords.

Not sure exactly what you are asking, can you send a link to what they are saying?

Best way to contact webmasters for link building
So I have my list of domains and contact information for link building. What is the best approach to contact webmasters to link build? Is there any standard way to ask them to add my link on their page? Does anyone have a generic boilerplate email?

New to SEO - Best Practice Example
I am new to the SEO world and I have been using the tools SEOMoz provides. I was doing some research and happen to find this website: http://www.futuresimple.com/lead-tracking-software/ I noticed that their sitemap does not contain all of the links that are located at the bottom of the page. Also when you click one of the page on the bottom that you are taken to a landing page and it forces you to their software page. Community feedback - do you think this is a good techique to do something like this or can you please provide me a some other good examples for a niche/smaller website? Thank you. Denny

Should I use RSS Feeds for SEO Purposes?
Hello... I am wondering if RSS feeds are good for SEO purposes... If i have a blog on my e-commerce site that links back into my site, should i then submit my feed to a bunch of RSS feed sites? Please tell me if i should be submitting my feed to all the RSS Feed Blog directories i can find or if that will appear as though i'm trying to gain links in the wrong way, from Google's perspective. For example: http://www.feedage.com/ http://www.feedlisting.com/ .... just to name a few of the directories i've found Thanks

Remove links or change anchor text?
I am currently in the process of cleaning up the link profile for a website that has been hit by Penguin thanks to loads of links from free directories with exact match keyword anchor texts (about 200 root domains from total of 300 root domains). I was wondering whether it's best to remove these un-natrual keyword anchor text links altogether, or change the anchor texts to brand (domain name, domainname.com, www.domainname.com, http://www.domainname.com)? I am currently trying to remove these links but was thinking it would be quicker to get to a healthier link profile (in terms of brand/commercial anchor text split) by altering the anchor texts and not removing them. Some of these directories are the worst of the worst on the other hand. Also note that I'm only really getting about a 30% response rate from the owners of these directories. Any thoughts? Many thanks in advance.

Is using a tool such as My Blog Guest worth it?
I saw the post http://www.seomoz.org/blog/4-valuable-link-building-services and saw that MyBlogGuest seems like a good link building service, so I signed up. It really is confusing though, it almost makes me think I have to install WP Blogs on my sites which primarily run in Joomla, so linking directly to the blog is not an option. Okay, fine, so I'll just skip the part about putting in offers on other people's posts. I really signed up for the link building part of it anyways. So, now, I just write content in the site-used article generator? Then, go in and offer it manually to people? Doesn't really strike me as some super powerful method of linkbuilding, but there's a good chance I'm missing something. If this is the case, I'd assume I'd have to write content that is relevant to the site that I am trying to build links for, and then place links back to that site, so basically I want my posts on competitors sites and that will help out with backlinks and authority? It's really confusing. I just want to have my content writer write good content and get links from it, and this method just confuses me. I'd appreciate any insight from anyone who has used that service or can recommend something easier or better.

Looking for Excellent Infographic Designers
I'm looking for recommendations for excellent infographic designers. They can be located anywhere, charge hourly or project based...as long as they are fluent in writing English, can show some examples of past work, and charge a reasonable rate, that's all we need. I've looked at Elance and Odesk and Craig's List, but what I really want is a recommendation from someone who has actually used the designer they're recommending and had a great experience. A designer who can do the research and ideation in addition to the actual design would be ideal.
