Anything to be done about lack of link in a WSJ story?
-
We had this great, great thing happen which is that the Wall St. Journal quoted me in a story about contract workers. The story (here, and my blog about it here) was awesome, but it had absolutely no link. It got the name of my company right, but the only link comes in a comment that I wrote, and that is on a separate comment page that has not shown up in my Open Site Explorer, or any other tool that I can see for inbound links.
Is there anyway to help Google to understand that the Blogmutt that the WSJ wrote about is the same as the Blogmutt.com on the internet?
I don't imagine there is, but I'd be interested if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks in advance,
(First time posting here)

Check with writers before you give the interview & make it a condition of the interview
-
I just don't want to annoy the writer, and it looks like it's a sitewide policy. They don't link to anyone in the body of their stories that also appear in the paper.
On their blogs they have outbound links, so for SEO reasons it's clearly much better to be covered by a blog that's part of WSJ and not by the paper, even though the paper is the most widely circulated in the world.

D'oh! That's brilliant, and now I'm kicking myself that I didn't do that.
The editors there may not have gone for that because they can see that our name is Blogmutt everywhere else, but it would have been worth a try.
I'll try that for sure next time.

The article shows two authors. You could contact one or both of the authors and request the reference to your site be changed into a link. That would be the most effective approach.

It is REALLY DIFFICULT to get links from these types of publications.... but one helpful thing that you can do is to tell them that your business is BlogMutt.com instead of BlogMutt.

Inbound Links not showing. Links are not no follow
Over the past several months I have definitely received inbound links to my website ( none of which are no follow). I have HubSpot as well s Moz and none of the links are showing. My competitors with the same link sources are showing though. I am completely dumbfounded. Why are my inbound links not showing and how much time does it take for them to show if they show at all? Thank you!

Links in product UI
We have a SaaS product that places a UI on our clients' websites. The UI often includes a link back to us. Think Live Chat (it's not, but the idea is similar) where the chat UI has a link "Live Chat by CompanyA". But our solution is not hosted - it's part of our customers' page. Our customers are big, enterprise companies (e.g., American Express). Does this provide any value in terms of inbound linking? Would it introduce Penguin risk to have the product name as an anchor text link (think "Live Chat by CompanyA" with Live Chat as the link)? Are there considerations I should think about? We're updating our standard UI, so it's a good time to make sure our SEO strategies are sound here.

Disavow links

over the past year so around every corner I discover something new. One the
things I have found are that majority of links to the site is coming from an
outside blog but digging deeper I found that the blog is actually on the same
server as clients. Should I disavow links from that blog or should I leave it
alone?0 -
Do external links hurt ?
Hi there... My company develops policy management software for SharePoint (called DocRead). Obviously, our main SEO push is purely for the product as that's what pays the bills. However, we also issue a weekly SharePoint Community newsletter in HTML as we run a large community group for SharePoint. Each newsletter has lots of outbound links (all coming from the same domain as our product is hosted on). These links won't really have anything to do with 'Policy Management' as they are purely to do with SharePoint. I was wondering if these will harm our ranking in anyway? FYI : The newsletters are here : http://www.collaboris.com/sharepoint-newsletters/all-newsletters and the product is here : http://www.collaboris.com/products/policy-and-procedure-management-software Thanks in advance Mark

Back Links
Hi there, I have been guest posting on blogs trying to build some back-links into my website, which so far is going not too bad, however I was wondering when writing these guest posts should I limit my post to let's say 2 back-links per guest post? If 2 back-links are going to different pages on my website, does the first back-links in the guest post have more value than the 2nd back-link? Kind Regards,

.edu links
Hi mozzers, I've had some great success reaching out to many .edu webmasters. Often they are professors and such. My question is, i'm guessing during the summer holiday period, reaching out to these webmasters won't be so fruitful. I'm not in the US and was wondering when the US Summer holidays are for universities over there? Also, does anyone have experience outreaching to these webmasters over the holidays? Peter
