Wordpress hacked. Entire content wiped out

Someone hacked my Wordpress site, wiped out all my content and changed my login status to a subscriber. Years of hard work gone, I can't log in to fix anything. Is there anything I can do. Is there a way to prevent this from happening ever again. Is there a way to catch these people?

It's good to see this is sorted - another option is to check Google's cache for anything else that's missing. It's saved me on a couple of occasions!

Just wanted to add on. If you have cpanel access where you could get to phpmyadmin you could change the pass or user type. or even create a new admin to regain control. this is useful when you forget a pass and no longer have email access or something

Make sure you UPDATE your database settings, and change all of your passwords. Also, UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE!

yea if you goto her profile you will see her site. I see what's going on. She owns the domain. Call hostgator - you own the hosting so they backup. Hurry before they "override it" with a newer version.

I agree with Joseph... just adding a few more comments...
If your wordpress site was on your own domain and you still have control over the DNS then you can simply open a new hosting account and switch the DNS.
If your site was on your own domain you can get backups from the host for a fee.. or your host might be willing to reissue a new account and then the DNS switch might not be needed.
If your site was on a wordpress domain then you can go to archive.org to recover all but the most recent content.

Many hosts back up stuff like this.. I would reach out to them. You still the domain? Is this is a shared host? I imagine so.. Contact them right now and they will restore a backup then UPGRADE your wordpress to the latest version. change the database user and password, change all of your passwords.
It looks like hostgator is hosting your site. they do weekly/monthly backups I think.

Internal blog with history and some SEO value versus new external blogs with specialized content?
We operate a blog inside a folder on our site and considering the launch of 4 highly focused blogs with specialized content which are now categories on the internal blog. Wondering if there is more value in using the external new blogs or just keep growing the internal blog content. Does fact that the internal blog is buried amongst millions of pages have any impact if we want the content indexed and value given to the links from the blog content to our main site pages.

If my blog is on Wordpress, and I've installed the AMP plug-in, what do I need to do to get Google to start indexing all my posts as AMP pages?
If I add /amp to the end of any of my posts, I can see that the plug-in is working. It's been months since I installed it, though, and Google hasn't indexed any of the AMP pages. Am I missing a step?

Are Duplicate Bio's Duplicate Content?
I'm wondering if I need to go through all the various bio's our firm has on all the various legal directory and client review sites to make sure they have unique bio's? I really, really don't want to do that, but if they are going to flagged as duplicate content, I will. I'm hoping sites like "findlaw," "avvo," etc, have some built in rel:cannonical or something that says these bio's aren't to be seen as unique content and therefore conflict with what's on our site. Â Anybody know? Just to clarify, any of the sties that have asked for unique content/bio/about us, I have complied with that. However, a lot don't specifically state it has to be unique, so I've just copy and pasted from our site in those cases. Thanks, Ruben

Wordpress Overly Dynamic URLs
Moz is giving me an overly dynamic URL warning for around 30 or so of these on our blog. http://blog.domain.com/?page=products&do=domain-com-looks-like-a-blog-title I have no idea what's causing this, we have the permalinks set up for category/post and are running yoast. Anyone have any idea what it is? And how can I stop them being crawled. They link to the blog homepage when clicked, which is set to canonical in the head so it shouldn't do any harm - but i'd like to remove them all the same. Will /Disallow /?=page work in robots.txt?

Get duplicate content error in seomoz even after fixed canonical
http://www.webworld.no - We have been getting error Page Duplicate Content Errors. But we have fixed the canonical. Actually, we have list of portfolio and detailed page for each portfolio But  We get error all portfolio pages are having duplicate content. But, i made canonical tag to direct to root page. Please help me to overcome this. Also, i see duplicae webworld.no & www.webworld.no. is there anything i need to fix in redirection? in server?

How to Get Rid of Duplicate Content Captured on Article Lists
We have a ton of articles and blog posts on our site. Currently, we display summary lists of articles that contain the first paragraph of the article in the summary list. However, in my reports, this is coming back as duplicate content with the full article itself. How do I fix this? Ex: article main page- http://www.robots.com/articles/10 First article on that page- http://www.robots.com/articles/viewing/grippers-for-robots (which shows up as duplicate content with the main artilce page). With our blogs, we have the most recent 5 blogs (in the same summary format) listed on our main blog page. We then have categories that people can sort by. But again, this is causing us duplicate content because those pages show the first paragraph of the blogs related to that category. Ex: blog main page- http://www.robots.com/blog. First blog listed on that page- http://www.robots.com/blog/viewing/robots-and-automation-bringing-jobs-back-to-the-united-states (which then shows as duplicate content with the main blog page). And then you can also select categories to see related topics: http://www.robots.com/blog/category/buying-a-robot which is showing as duplicate content also. Help! How can I prevent this? Thanks! What are the best widgets to use on Wordpress? And what is most useful on Wordpress for content syndication?
We are in the process of researching the best plugins and widgets for our clients' blogs. It appears that SEO by Yoast is most popular for 2013 so far. Any recommendations on which widgets we should be using or plugins for content syndication? If we use something like the Jetpack plugin, would this do the trick?

Archive older, low ranked content to help new content in Panda 2.2?
After watching the white board friday re: Panda 2.2, it got me to thinking about old content. One of the sites that I work with generates 3-10 new articles/day (movie reviews, interviews, guides, event previews, etc) and has been doing so since 2005. Now, they have almost 10k articles, 7k of which are indexed. The quality of the content varies, and much of it is dated (movies, events) much of the amount of older content gets 0-5 pageviews/month, made in the days BEFORE the site was using Google News + social tools to spread the word (and backlinks). Note that those older articles also of course tend to have 100% bounce, and small/zero TOS. Is this hurting the site? With 75-100 articles/month being published, I want to make sure they get maximum exposure. I'm also concerned that crawlers get sucked into the site chasing down old BS content, and that is hurting it as well. What to do with this content? Should I unpublish unpopular, dated content and get it off the internet? Or, do I leave it on, but NOINDEX it so Google won't crawl it?
