Long tail analytics
-
I've been playing with google advanced segments, but can't work out how to do this:
Show all the keywords and traffic that send between x and x number of keyword searches per month. I'd like to have 3 different segments to show short, long and midtail keywords.
Can anyone help?

Thanks Martin,
I was able to do so by using filters, and it was easy.
Had hoped for some more advanced options in analytics though.

Hi Anders,
The problem in this case is that my example was related to filters while you tried to apply it with Advanced Segments. With creating advanced segments like you tried you'll 'ask' Google Analytics to only show keyword which were visited more than X times by thesame visitor. While filtering on the other hand filters the data for all visitors.
If you apply the same methodology by using the filters in your keyword reports you are able to filter the data. Hopefully this will help you any further.
Happy holidays!

@Journeyman
Thanks for the description on how to set it up.
Now I just did it, and set up three advanced segments:
Fat Head: Visits > 100
Chunky Middle: > 10 AND < 100
Long tail: <10
And those segments are available for me know.
However, I cannot see how I apply those advanced segments into my data analysis. From the keyword metrics I can see that I have 12 keywords that attracts more than 100 keywords per month.
But when I enable those segments, I get a result of 0 for each, although I should have roughly 3500 visitors a month from those 12 keywords that attracts more than 100 people each.
Kind regards
Anders

Thanks so much Martin, this is a much easier way.

Hi Peter,
I think you're making this a bit to complicated, because this could also be done, more easily in my opinion, by applying a filter to your reports with Search Traffic and gives you even fast results. You could easily do this by applying the number of visits a keywords has got like you can see here in this example.
You also thought about analyzing your long-tail another way by taking the length of the search term? Avinash Kaushik wrote a great article about this last year, which could be found in the third part of this post.
Happy analyzing!

Google Analytics unexplainable traffic spike
Viewing this report **Behaviour > Site content > All pages **with primary dimensions of **Page ** and **Page title **are showing different results for one specific page on our site. We noticed a huge spike in pageviews and entrances to that specific page on our site. The user flow report shows traffic going through and from the page (in high volume) from other pages on the site which suggests that it's not the usual case of spam referrals. When I view the report above by page, I get unrealistic data. Over 600% increase in pageviews and over 900% increase in entrances. When I view by page title however, I get realistic results. Can anyone help shed some light on why these two reports will be different? Anyone else seeing similar issues?

Is there a way to find out who the admin of a Google Analytics account is?
We have a client who has been searching high and low to gain access to the GA account that is tied to their website, but previous agencies keep stating they don't have access. Is there a way to find out who the admins are on a GA account with the tracking number so we can reach out to that person and ask them to admin the client?

How to track what people type on my text boxes on Google Analytics?
Hi there! In our website, we have a few text boxes that users need to use to complete the goal. The boxes aren't search boxes, but it's still important to us to track what people type on it. I'm looking for a way to track the data through the "event" feature in Google Analytics, but it seems that this tracker can only calculate clicks, or video views etc. Does anyone knows how to track do it?

Using Google Analytics for tracking statistics of the HOMEpage
Hello, Lets say I have a website with the HOMEpage being http://www.page.com. There are various subpages e.g. http://www.page.com/page1, http://www.page.com/page2, http://www.page.com/page3 . Now when I use Google Analytics it gives me all kind of statistics for the subpages shown as /page1 /page2 /page3 ... (relative path). According to this pattern the HOMEpage should be just "/". Unfortunately I can't find "/" in any statistics. Is this normal? Thanks in advance

Nonbranded Segment in Analytics
I created a segment in analytics for non-branded terms. Problem is, that when I use that segment it shows all the search traffic even non-paid. Why is that? Or, how do I limit the non-branded segment to only non-paid search? The segment I created looks like this -- Dimension: Keyword Condition: Does not a match regular expression Value: Name of client (with pipes between possible words) Thanks.
