RE: How are similar keyword phrases related?
1st off welcome to the great source of knowledge called SEOmoz & the world of SEO.
if you only write the words WordPress SEO Google will understand that WordPress uses plug-ins because of so many other people on the web talking about plug-ins and the word WordPress put the real answer to your question is no you should not leave out key words and assume that Google will go about fixing it for you.
If you want to rank for WordPress SEO plug-in you could do it by just including WordPress somewhere in your text Seo somewhere in your text and plug-in somewhere in your text separately then put them all together in a sentence that make sense and is something you would like to read yourself like "this is a fantastic new WordPress Seo plug-in that has helped me a lot."
However to not go overboard and keep using the same words I will strongly recommend you try a WordPress plug-in called scribeseo it is going to tell you when you have passed your limit of using the same keyword too many times to post it will also tell you many helpful rules to blog by simply things like remember it must be 300 words or more 20 times a month minimum. Engage people please Google plug-in give it a try I think it will be a big help the best thing you could have done by far was join this community and I hope I have been of help to you

gentleman you are both correct and I apologize for my incorrect answer. I had been under the assumption that you did understand or have something to do with this other site. My apologies for not reading thoroughly enough you made the right choice by listening to these gentlemen.

RE: SEO issues with IP based content delivery
normally I would have said keep only one site but in understanding what you've said you need to differentiate the sites substantially not just wording. Brandon differently to be different the whole reason the customer wants them not be the same is because the audience is not the same I'm from Germany I do understand the difference between being pitch something in Germany and in the United States where I am now and I do notice my own behavior patterns to those I'm far more likely to buy something with the .de as I know which German I know there will be no issues when I'm in the United States I am far more likely to purchase something with the .com TDL as I know I will not have problems hopefully. Differentiate the sites is much as you can one of them sounds like the US site should be rewritten.
I hope I've helped you,

RE: Wordpress theme installation problem
this is what you need to do laid out right here fixes problem by the way give the thumbs-up to Casey as he did tell you what was right http://wordpress.org/support/topic/i-got-a-warning-and-now-cant-access-wordpress
it seems to me because I do a lot of Genesis/studio press WordPress work. That this gentleman tried to do a simple change that would've worked if he was using the same themes that are out there for 90% of what is offered to WordPress users. However if you are using studio press you must 1st install the Genesis framework is the framework is separate from the theme. If you are actually trying to change the name of the theme itself I don't understand why you would want to do that if you're talking about something that wouldn't be seen by anyone however if you are simply talking about naming it whatever your website is this make sense. Also one thing I strongly advised everyone is use a managed WordPress host when using WordPress you could very simply sign up for WP engine, Zippy kid, pagely or web synthesis and they would fix your problem for you. Give you a hint Zippy kid is the best value and least expensive and extremely high-quality. If you move to any of the hosts I just named you will get these types of problems fixed for free by the host.
Sincerely,
Thomas Zickell

RE: Can high SERPS and/or social signals minimize Google penalties and a back linking removal question
I would 1st off definitely tell you without a doubt the difference your ranking is because of the 73 thousand Facebook likes they have over your 300. To Google Facebook represents something that is real data that can be quantified by Real people so that is the difference. You probably were both penalized equally however they are beating you because of the social media presence.
73,000 links sounds extremely high obviously if you're willing to 404 them you should before you in the domains name and every site that you're linking to I would keep the links in place take the domain off-line just killed the DNS for short Time.
Also inside your own website look for redundant interior links I know it sounds crazy however it affects your link flow in a amazing way.
Sincerely
Thomas

RE: Setting up a Blog for an e-commerce site
Hi Adam,
I agree with you it cannot be done then I know of (I'm sure it could with enough money and DNS tricks you could make a failover and in force at the failover but that would be bad) I was posing I don't know what he's selling however he could make a full e-commerce site based 100% on the WordPress platform have a look at all of these themes and the they incorporate e-commerce
http://www.woothemes.com/product-category/themes/woocommerce/?prod_cat[]=1050&s=&post_type=product
hear is more e-commerce stuff from woo the only reason I'm recommending this theme company is because they're known for making high-quality e-commerce teams however you can go and find many other theme makers or developers wil incorporate the Wu commerce suite and I have to say I was amazed with the plug-ins take a look http://www.woothemes.com/woocommerce/
I just started building the site yesterday so please forgive the really raw nature of it it's not optimized or anything and the guy who I'm doing it for keeps messing with it. The reader http://solarwindtec.com the site there's on Zippy kid the reason I forgot above for me also mentioning them is their it the only one to give a content delivery network for free so $25 a month buys you 100,000 page views plus content delivery network everything WP engine who I love as well offers $100 you get for $24 and the speeds are comparable if you're hacked though both be fixed and you get DYN DNS + Ultradns if you go with zippy kid plus free themes and free gravity forms developer edition.
Adam you are hundred percent correct I I agree you definitely probably can't just venues to host like that however I believe that WordPress e-commerce has reached a point where it's functional safe and better than magento for some projects I believe most.
Adam I wanted to say I like to give credit where credit's due you named everything I forgot and you hit the nail on the head man so I definitely know you know yourself I agree with you 100%
sincerely,
Thomas

RE: Setting up a Blog for an e-commerce site
I want to chime in and say I highly agree with Adam if you really want blogging to be part of your website you might want to look at Woocommerce from Woothemes.com
they will allow you to build a outstanding and blogging platform and on top of that and excellent e-commerce website. Take a look at the sites on the link I gave you
WordPress should be hosted on a managed WordPress host in my opinion you have some great choices like WP engine & Page.ly that you get discounts from SEO Moz however if you are doing e-commerce I'm going to suggest one of 2 additional hosts as I love all of them and use them all if you want a private VPS and don't want to break the bank websynthesis.com is the only one out there offering a under $100 VPS however you can still get dedicated IP's and I know but for fact VeriSign will be fine with a set up run by Zippykid.com they are based on rack space and one of my particular favorites because they have top-notch support they will not charge you out of this world prices if you're going to get a lot of e-commerce traffic you need a dedicated IP Zippy kid is extremely high-quality and very inexpensive for what you get. Have a look at them all I don't mean to get off blogging tool I just want you to know e-commerce WordPress I feel is the way to go and if you can do it do it right.
I also agree with Adam again Yoast SEO plugin for WordPress. is the best plug-in for search engine optimization and word press right now in my opinion
One thing you can do I know with an e-commerce site I don't want to get off topic but if you're going use WordPress is simply use Amazons payment system that does not require you to be an Amazon member there's no chargebacks or anything like that so the merchant safe in addition you don't have to run an SSL if you do find yourself wanting to run SSL do it but only in the payment gateway.
Please let me know if I can be of help to you.
and listen to everything Adam said he definitely knows what he's talking about.
Sincerely,
Thomas

RE: Setting up a Blog for an e-commerce site
Hi Nic,
I can give you a few things that have really been of help to me 1st make sure to write the blog like this example.com/blog not blog.example.com you want all you can get out of that domain. Another thing I would do is make sure you blog at least 4 times a week or 20 times a month is this say. In order for Google to actually really like your blog it should be over 300 words every time you post. When you do attract an audience engage them to not just sit back. If you're using the magento you may want to switch to software like discuss for your blog in order to take advantage of people that can sign in using their twitter account. Last but not least make sure if you're not the one writing it that hired somebody that knows what they're doing. Writers access is a good place to look. this is a great tool if you are doing the writing http://scribecontent.com/
I hope I was of help to you.

RE: Drop In Rankings / Traffic... Can you find any technical issues with my site?
Nakul,
Good point on the brand building the fact is all you need both to move-up in rank right now. I would concentrate on building relevant links from the most relevant authoritative sites you can. I would also focus on adding content strongly recommend that you have a blog to your websites. This will give you an opportunity to add content, a daily basis hopefully at least 4 times a week and get to much-needed attention from Google. I feel the matter what side is almost every site can benefit from a blog or a newsfeed whatever they want to call it basically new content that is relevant and well written. You may want to look into the entire structure of your site I'm not telling you to go nuts but really analyze it looks for small problems fix them then if you want some help with the writing I'd recommend a Word press plug-in that ALSO has a great web interface where you can copy and paste your content prior to posting in your blog or adding pages. It will then using your URL and give you suggestions based on different metrics it is a fantastic piece of software. FYI if you buy a theme I paid roughly 70% less than the advertised price because I purchased one WordPress theme not saying this is going to happen for you however I do know that every time I've put a studio press him up it at least gives me 50% off as a offer software is http://scribecontent.com/
please let me know if I can be of any more help to.
Sincerely,
Thomas

RE: Drop In Rankings / Traffic... Can you find any technical issues with my site?
I would bet you are unfortunately suffering from the latest update in Google's algorithm. Approximately what time last week to this happen? How do you been going about building links can you going to a little but more detail about your methods? Here are your organic standings as of right now for each site. If you are to truly 301 redirect their website it should be to only one other site. You may be getting some blowback by 301 redirecting your site to two websites and not the one site is supposed to be redirecting to as you know it is a permanent redirect meaning the site no longer is here please look at the site not sites. is there a site you prefer over the other? Would strongly recommend linking the 301 redirect only one of those sites. Also I will take your link profile and have a look at it using a few different software's including my favorite SEOmoz however I will get more than one opinion. Have you done this yet? Have you looked for spam malware a bad links pointing to your site?

RE: Double problem: mobile friendly site and shopping cart page duplication
Frist you asked
"If I add canonical references from the shopping cart product pages and articles back to product.com associated pages, will this lessen the blow to any seo issues? What other factors am I missing/need to consider"
the answer to that is yes it will significantly help you. Is buymyproduct.com a completely separate domain from your other domain? If is you are going to suffer some duplicate content issues until you address the response of phone/website issue I just built a e-commerce website based on Genesis framework with with Woocommerce I can tell you that canvas 5 the new one for woocommerce can essentially replicate any website out there with the developer for about $30 a page. And that site is 100% responsive I would use http://demo.woothemes.com/?name=canvas with Woo commerce Magento is becoming a dinosaur that does not perform well with SEO or on a quick server. Do yourself a favor and move to WordPress you'll be shocked at how good they are. I recommend the host like WP engine or zippy kid

RE: Why has my homepage been replaced in Google by my Facebook page?
wait you treated a Facebook page has a homepage? So you did point your TNS to your Facebook account? this is the problem and you should really never want to promote your Facebook account over your soul site. All of these traffic is going simply to 8 site you do not have ownership of however you do have of course your profile there and you may have advertising regardless you want both your website and your Facebook site up at the same time on with twitter and all the other fun stuff. Please explain to me the process in which you created the Facebook page secondly it could be that you have a down server or page and went you Google it you're getting the cash result and that is leading you to the only page with a viable Live link on it your Facebook page. Please private message me if you feel more comfortable doing that or send it via the message board just your URL of the great and I would build that whole you everything wrong. (Hopefully)
all the best,
Tom
-
RE: Why has my homepage been replaced in Google by my Facebook page?
Yes it is most likely a DNS problem. You either have the page redirecting to your Facebook IP or you have some sort of a hack. If you run your URL through the system built to you if you have malware http://sucuri.net/ if you do not have any malware. And you send me your URL and I will look either DNS and tell you what the problem is.
I hope I can be of help.
Sincerely,
Thomas
-
RE: Site Recovered from hack, should I submit a reinclusion request?
I know a decent amount about security and I know I do not trust just Google webmaster tools to rid myself of malware. Regardless of rather you did everything perfectly you can still have times of malware on your computer that you are not yet aware of intentionally hiding from your system. use a free very accurate anti-malware system to check if it is infected. I should tell you I mean free to check not free to fix but at $80 a year and they will fix as many pages as it takes as many times as it takes in one year it is a true bargain. http://sucuri.net/
You might also want to consider using better hosting if you're using WordPress. I would strongly suggest WP engine, ZippyKid, websynthesis.com or Page.ly ( WP engine and Page.ly have pro discounts through SEOmoz)
the other thing unique about them is each of them uses server-side http://sucuri.net/
if you want I will be happy to run your URL if not please run it through the URL here http://sucuri.net/ it looks like they told you to use this product however you're running WordPress.com which is not quite the same as regular WordPress however website is a website.
I hope I was of assistance to you,
Thomas

RE: Find New Keywords Tool - Information is not accurate
The reason for this is google puts more power in the first words "Speak Creative Memphis" the other is you did not use a , it should be "Speak Creative, Memphis" not "Speak Creative Memphis" and Facebook has a page rank like no other. Google thinks that's one keyword. Hope I have helped, Tom

RE: Short Meme/Image Posts on Blog - Will this hurt me?
Ps The content is like twitter I would use a site and blog + twitter to post short posts as twitter will get it out to many more people then you are getting now using WordPress.com This might help http://www.emagineusa.com/blog/seo-best-practices-for-writing-website-content.htm All the best, Tom
-
RE: Short Meme/Image Posts on Blog - Will this hurt me?
Well you need a minimum of 300 words per a blog post or web page. Your using WordPress.com that's not good use wordpress.org For whole site using the Wordpress CMS. http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/commercial/ http://www.studiopress.com/ http://wpengine.com http://zippykid.com I think this will be of help. Let me know if you need more. Tom
-
RE: Short Meme/Image Posts on Blog - Will this hurt me?
I strongly recommend using one platform, host & domain. I would covert your website to Wordpress, host on wpengine.com or zippykid.com look to see why. Then you get the best of everything. I hope I was of help, Tom

RE: How can we start to improve Domain MozRank & MozTrust for our website?
Sometimes it might be buying the new domain just a thought but please don't go that route is less entirely necessary.
I hope you understand that domain age and track record play a huge role in this as well. You will need to get people to link to you from hopefully authoritative websites that are relevant to your websites purpose or topic. So if I am doing a website about hedge funds I want someone like Forbes or better yet the US Federal Reserve to link to me. Remember .gov and .edu domains will boost your moths rank and trust. What I would do if you were just starting out is create very high quality content then in the beginning you will have to of course publicize this content yourself to get ball rolling. Use PRWeb or services similar and do not forget about social media along with other great ways to get many people to link to you like blogging. The more authoritative information you can place on your website that gets the people that are already considered authorities to say I agree with the guy or disagree just if they talk to you and link to you that will be a way to start off.
I hope I have been of help you.

RE: HOW TO: City Targeted Landing Pages For Lead Generation
Hi Ruth,
I guess you are right after reading what I have been focusing on. I am making of mountain out of a mole hill and please understand I don't mean to waste your time l I do agree there are many other things considering putting your address on your website will probably get you more than what I'm inquiring about but I thought I would find out. Thank you for taking the time to respond to me and my question. The main reason I kept asking was I did not want to ever give somebody the wrong information so in the future I will not list this as good or bad for SEO until I know better.
Thank you again and I want to say what wonderful job everyone here at SEOmoz has done.

RE: HOW TO: City Targeted Landing Pages For Lead Generation
Dear Ruth,
while I have you here–should say when I spoke to the gentleman in private yesterday his decision was exactly what you spoke about just now to optimize landing pages methods like PRWeb but only use the one domain. I wanted to ask you your opinion on local IP http://www.neustar.biz/enterprise/digital-marketing/what-is-localized-web-content
As I do not want to give up the wrong information however I am getting conflicting information on the web about rather not it will get you to rank for local I know DYN & UtraDNS will allow me to put in my latitude longitude and height above sea level. In your opinion is this of value to local seo?
respectfully,
Thomas
-
RE: Any tips for optimization at the local level in Australia?
hi guys I think I found something interesting,
I happen to be fiddling around with setting up the server earlier today and using any cast DNS with DYN.com the reason I mention this is there was a setting called local IP which asked me for my exact whereabouts. This has led to me googling articles seeing if it affected SEO according to what I've read it does
now I use dyn.com, ultraDNS.com,'s ergo and just bought DNSmadeeasy.com
http://www.askdavetaylor.com/can_dns_changes_affect_search_engine_results_placement_serp.html
this one actually references Australia and Matt Cutts of Google a great combo for what you're asking about
http://seoforum.net.au/SeoBlog/2011/06/07/does-hosting-ip-effect-local-search-listing/
http://www.zerigo.com/docs/managed-dns/geodns_continents_countries
now you want to stay away from the very broad questions like country given by the link above
because of this reason
http://www.localseoguide.com/geotargeting-location-by-ip-address-seo-death/
I can tell you that I was asked by this software running the light edition for LOC that requested my latitude longitude as well as my height from seawater
http://dyn.com/dns/dynect-managed-dns-lite/
Neustar.biz the parent company of ultra DNS has this interesting information that and more

About this Tool
(it by Quova)
now owned by ultra DNS or neustar http://developer.quova.com/
The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) delegates Internet resources to RIRs (regional Internet registries) who, in turn, follow their regional policies to delegate resources to their customers. Each IP address on the global public Internet is administered by one of the 5 RIRs within a particular region of the world. As such, each globally routable IP address is associated with its RIR's region, and the RIR's allocation policy results in an IP address being associated again with a specific country or region with a country. This association is typically "soft" and is simply a function of the assignee's location. The Geo-location & Country Lookup tool attempts to pinpoint which country an IP address appears to be "associated" with. Note that Geo-location information is usually only accurate up through the RIR's direct assignment. For example, if an RIR allocates a block of IP addresses to a large ISP in Quebec, but the ISP assigns one of those addresses to a customer in Vancouver, the location of the IP address will be reported as being in Quebec.
last but not least for a much less expensive alternative but something that apparently still does the exact same job take a look at DNSmadeeasy.com
"The Global Traffic Director from DNS Made Easy provides geographical source-based IP routing which allows the administrator to optimize traffic flow based on the geographical location of the end user. Traffic can be regionally divided among different servers or data centers which can greatly increase the performance of DNS by segmenting traffic."

RE: HOW TO: City Targeted Landing Pages For Lead Generation
just wanted your opinion on what I said below as you are an associate please tell me if it is unfair or incorrect in any way of me to say that. Again I will say I do not wish to have any answer for this regardless of if I am right or not just because I've brought this up and I would not want to look like somebody trying to change the score if you know what it mean.
-
RE: HOW TO: City Targeted Landing Pages For Lead Generation
Oh hey I just wanted to give you a heads up that the way most people and a message that has been answered is with a thumbs up or a thumbs-up and a good answer to the person that gave the best answer. You can use thumbs up if you agree with both as well as good answer to as many people as you like and you can use thumbs down if you disagree however it is commonly only done if you strongly disagree with what they say. That is the way that all of us get ranked here on SEOmoz so just a heads up for post in the future give people recognition if they help you and that's kind of the way the whole system works.
Just so you know I felt like saying that because I think a lot of people ignore the thumbs-up or answers when starting out and that's normal because you're just getting acquainted. However just thought I'd let you know and I would NOT give me a thumbs up for best answer on this because number 1 I private message to you number 2 I have shared this information with you and don't want you to feel like you are being asked to give an answer that is not deserved.
All the best man and enjoy a SEOmoz

RE: Google: 7 Results on First page now (Good or Bad)?
Thumbs up I do agree with you soon Google will be like me I feel I only hope they realize that we are Industry spawn because of them. I hope they will realize that we cancontinue to have a place that helps Google financially and overall for the user experience. we help to upgrade the user experience and overall website quality (most of us at least) and we are happy to do that marketing and SEO is marketing
-
RE: Google: 7 Results on First page now (Good or Bad)?
it depends one hundred percent on what you're trying to rank for if 7 keywords of yours are on the 1st page of Google that is a good start. If it is a truly niche niche market or the key words are absolutely relevant to your business you could be in a absolutely fantastic place. however if you're only ranking for brand words like your URL and very absurd longtail keywords with no competitive rank then that does not sounds so good. However if you are ranking for things with a lot of interest yes you're doing a good job anything over a few thousand a day I believe is a good start. I made a killing in the plastics business ranking for "release liner manufacturers" There are only 200 and some on the world so as you can understand being on the 1st page for that matters quite a bit even though it's a low number of people that visit they are all willing to spend tons of money and that industry frankly is not caught on to search engine optimization. So the answer is it all depends on what you're trying to rank for and how many people are looking.
I hope have been of help to you.
Sincerely,
Thomas von Zickell

RE: SEO and marketing for a company that doesn't want to promote their primary website
Hi Aviva,
I would use a company like http://www.writeraccess.com/ they are very inexpensive and you can get somebody to write your entire website with perfect grammar and spelling emphasizing the words you chose to emphasize and they will make sure in is 100% new fresh content. I would go about it this way than writing it myself I personally do not consider myself a good writer and employee company as well as writers access to do my blogging and website text creation.
I hope this is been of help.

RE: HOW TO: City Targeted Landing Pages For Lead Generation
you will not want to run them all off same server. You will need different C blocks for each site or Google will penalize you if this is not done exactly right. I would Google hosting for SEO C Class IP's use http://www.seohosting.com/
I just sent you a private message because I did not want to post the link I have built for a similar site. As long as you keep the content 100% new and relevant to the website do not spin it or try to use The same site for every major city. You may use the same template but do not use the same wording. in fact make the wording very very different even though you're going to be selling the same thing over and over again. Have a look at the link I posted below and please look at the link I sent you in the private message I built that and it returns a good amount revenue.

Remember to use
use rel=canonical as well
I want to ask you a quick question as well is this actually affecting your site what is your page rank? What is your Moz rank? How old is your domain? If your website is ranking well chances are Google understands that it is a e-commerce website and is not penalizing you as it would another type site. If you are being penalized by me know. You may also want to employee majestic SEO tools to look your link profile history in addition to the excellent tools found here. Remember you always have one private question every month if you're a pro member to ask the staff. I hope that it does not come to that however I do SEO on e-commerce sites and just use different descriptions never spin the content though make it fresh every time.
All the best,

RE: Duplicate Page Title problems with Product Catalogues (Categories, Subcategories etc.)
- Okay I think I have an answer for you. If you are an e-commerce website and you are having issues with duplicate content because of the reasons you've given let's say the main page shows everything shirts, then another page has blue shirts so the URL like HTTP://example.com/shirts and the blue shirt will be in a URL something like this HTTP://example.com/shirts/blue
- I believe this is forgivable however I would build my site out to reflect a new category and have the wording be unique for each so my blue shirt's description would be different on shirts that would be on shirts/blue I hope that makes some sense however I do believe that there is a whiteboard Friday just after Google dropped Penguin in our lap where Rand discusses this I will look for and add it to this if I can find it however if you look in the search box here on Moz you will want to type in something to the tune of "things we should not worry about after Penguin" now you have to understand I do not recall this exactly so I sincerely hope to you & let me know if I can and help you anymore.

RE: Blocking Pages E-Commerce Site
Ps Google will have cached the site so people will still think you sell the product even if you block it when your out of stock.
-
RE: Blocking Pages E-Commerce Site
I would not promote not in stock but coming soon maybe? Or you can list the true time it would take to order the products even if it's 3 weeks people will still buy if you can say this will be shipped when in stock that way you are covered. You can ask the mfg when it will be in and just list that. I would get a developer to make it so you know when stock # whatever is out then auto switch the txt to say the real ship date. All the best, Tom

- simply put I am dealing with something similar with woocommerce that you what I something you might not have the option to spend on the platform we're using to do if something is not in stock I can keep a giant thing that says not in stock or what most people do is wait for it to become stock ready so place the shipping days on the description. Or simply block it out with rules meeting I have a plug-in that allows me to not show the item if I cannot sell it. Does that make sense? I like WordPress for e-commerce I know a lot of people will probably say that they don't however I believe woocommerce is pretty amazing.

RE: HTML5 Video - Rich Snippet Markup and Quality
there is a video site map that is generated by each of the 2 services not links below. When you make a video.
The ability for the video to display in higher resolution or HD or just regular low-resolution is determined by the quality of the video you upload. So shoot in high definition Google prefers it. I believe most are questions can easily be answered by going to the sites below however you do have to include the generated site map in the actual robot txt on your website. It will give you 56 times more power than a link not associated with the video. I believe Oculu has some fantastic prices and great SEO I use wistia personally however you only get the 1st 3 videos for free and then a little bit more expensive it gets or a lot more than oculu which most of my clients end up using because it looks good and does everything needed.

RE: SEO and marketing for a company that doesn't want to promote their primary website
Number 1 do not use squido it is spamy
I know exactly what you have to do. You should do a lot of blogging even no follow links have weight. If you build a WordPress site with a blog and actually try to fill it with somewhat decent non-recycled content always fresh and better than obviously it has been. You can then create a social media buzz about it then get people to naturally link to your interesting articles. It's inbound marketing and its effective and the Chinese won't ban you. I hope I have been of help to you. Of course you want to index the site and do all be on page SEO needed however you obviously will need links and links coming from social media matter to Google and will matter to your site

RE: Any tips for optimization at the local level in Australia?
I would use your home address if in the same area. Or I would go to Google maps. Then create an account then save the Google maps selection of where your business is in public. I would then also place that information on my website. All you really must do is register with Yahoo, Bing and Google of course for the area closest to you if for some reason you cannot use your business address I would use my home address so I at least get recognition. And I would definitely make the public addresses for your business there. And of course use things like Manta.com along with Yellow Pages.com or Australias counterparts those will be picked up by the search engines
like what is shown in the domain below
- ** Top local directories in Australia** – HotFrog, superpages, local.com.au, Start Local, dlook, brownbook and 10 more… in the domain below.
I believe this 1st domain here is going to be of great use to you http://www.brightlocal.com/blog/2012/03/01/local-seo-check-up-live-in-australia-and-canada/
in addition to what you have now I don't know what your domain ending this I would get a .AU domain
underneath this text is a domain of a company offering to help with this type of issue. However I would use the above

I hope I have been of help to you let me know if I can be of any more.

RE: How do I get my keyword rankings to update?
Luke,
I am guessing you are talking about this as a report e-mail your receiving from SEOmoz? If so do not worry at all look at the top of the e-mail and you will see in small letters probably know rank changes something to that effect. All it means is that your Google, Yahoo, Bing results are the same or whatever search engine you chose. If you want to be double sure run it through SEM Rush and see what you get.
I hope I have been of help

RE: Cross domain tracking setup in Google Analytics
- ** look underneath your main script and compared to what you see below. If you don't have the subdomains listed as you do not have in your tracking code you will not get the results needed. Check out this video I have attached as well as this URL and I think you'll be fine. Let me know if I can be of more help and always use Asynchronous tracking code over traditional because Asynchronous it keeps your site from being slowed down.**

In this way, if you later add any sub-domains for the blog site, that sub-domain will be able to share cookies with its parent and you will not need to set up special linked calls between them. However, you still must use the `_link()` and `_linkByPost()`methods for any form or links to `www.example-petstore.com`.
Tracking Across a Domain and Its Subdomains
As mentioned above, a default setup of Google Analytics is designed to track content and visitor data for a single domain, such as www.example.com. This means that even if you manage both a domain and a sub-domain, you must make modifications to the tracking code in order to share visitor data across both domains.
Suppose you have the following URLs that you want to track as a single entity:
www.example-petstore.com
dogs.example-petstore.com
cats.example-petstore.com
For this setup, you would use the following key customizations for the tracking code on all three domains.
<a class="exw-control exw-collapsed">▸</a>
Asynchronous syntax
<a class="exw-control exw-collapsed">▸</a>
Traditional (ga.js) syntax
You will not have to make any adjustments to the links or forms between these three sites, since they can all share the same cookies due to the fact that you set the domain name to the top-level domain (e.g.,
example-petstore.com
).Tracking Between a Domain and a Sub-Directory on Another Domain
Another common tracking scenario is to track visitor and traffic data between a single domain and a sub-directory of a different domain. This might occur when you want to track traffic between your website and your online blog, where your blog is limited to a sub-directory of the blog service. The follow example URLs each contain recommended customizations for the tracking code on both pages.
Main Website Domain: www.example.com
<a class="exw-control exw-expanded">▾</a>
Asynchronous syntax
... <a< span="">href="www.blog-hosting-service.com/myBlog" onclick="_gaq.push(['_link', 'www.blog-hosting-service.com/myBlog']); return false;"> View My Blog ... <form< span="">name="f" method="post" onsubmit="_gaq.push(['_linkByPost', this]);"></form<></a<>
<a class="exw-control exw-collapsed">▸</a>
Traditional (ga.js) syntax
Blog URL: www.blog-hosting-service.com/myBlog
<a class="exw-control exw-expanded">▾</a>
Asynchronous syntax
... <a< span="">href="www.example.com" onclick="_gaq.push(['_link', 'www.example.com']); return false;"> View My Site ... <form< span="">name="f" method="post" onsubmit="_gaq.push(['_linkByPost', this]);"></form<></a<>
<a class="exw-control exw-collapsed">▸</a>
Traditional (ga.js) syntax
For any form submission from
www.example-petstore.com
to the shopping cart website, you would use the_linkByPost()
method to copy traffic and visitor cookie data via HTTP POST to the shopping cart site. The_setAllowLinker()
method directs the target site to read cookie data from the POST data rather than from the regular user session information. In this way, you can pass cookie data set on one domain to another and thereby retain the visitor session from your online store to your shopping cart.Similarly, use the
_link()
function to transfer visitor data on any links going from the online store to the shopping cart.Tracking Across iFrames
In a site where the transfer between domains is done by opening a new window or by including content in an iFrame, you will need to to use the
_getLinkerUrl()
method to transfer visitor and campaign cookies from one domain to another. For example, suppose you include a form in an iFrame that is hosted onwww.my-example-iframecontent.com
. In order to transfer visitor information from the parent page that hosts the iFrame onwww.example-parent.com
, you would use JavaScript to load the iFrame and pass in the cookie information using the_getLinkerURL()
method. The following example illustrates only the linking function and assumes that cross-domain tracking is configured in the tracking snippets for both domains.
<a class="exw-control exw-collapsed">▸</a>
Asynchronous syntax
<a class="exw-control exw-collapsed">▸</a>

Configuring iFrame Tracking for Internet Explorer
iFramed content that is hosted in a separate domain from the parent page is regarded as third-party content. The default privacy setting for Internet Explorer 6 and above does not allow third-party websites to store cookies on the first-party site.
This means that Analytics tracking for iFramed pages requires special configuration in order to work in Internet Explorer. For the web pages that reside in the iFrame, you will need to configure privacy preferences. You can set up privacy preferences on the hosted pages by using one of the following methods:
- include a special "Platform for Privacy Preferences" (P3P) HTTP header for the included site's pages
- provide a P3P XML manifest for the included site's pages
For more information, see the following resources:

RE: Quick Question About Exact Matched Keyword Domain
Yes everything was so the people said here was true. However I don't know why one person suggested you are building spamming links that seems strange that they would know that the information. However I have a rule that has worked very well for me post penguin and it is true about the 50-50 your domain let's take mine for example blueprintmarketing.com when you are building links you should never have to worry about counting otherwise Google regardless of the 50-50 rule may catch on if it looks spamming and it quacks spam you got issues including Google picking up on natural link building. And the matter what you do do not ping all of your links at once release them over slow point in time obviously Google is used as seeing links built by people putting their name, e-mail URL so you can use your URL or your name. My domain is somewhat of a exact match domain. I do not know what Google has in store for us but I do know it's only getting tougher. build link in a blog or in the main content area of the website. Take the link with the most authority I would use SEOmoz & Majestic SEO or just Raven tools to find out your highest authority inbound link and use the anchor text on those that use it very sparingly.
I hope I have been of help.

RE: Do search engines factor traffic into rankings?
No, search engines cannot factor in how many people going to site because robots spiders whatever you want to call bots to the site in fact if you wanted to look up George Washington's birthday it would take only 20 seconds to do it on Wikipedia you have a high bounce rate so why would they judge something is irrelevant as traffic when they can judge actual links ans likes, tweets things that have authority I hope I've been help.

Thomas

RE: It looks to me like crap still wins
Justin it seems to me like you just need a little bit more time learning the fundamentals. For instance I have a domain that's I believe roughly 8 years old however I can post a blog article today August 27, 2012 and the blog article will show up as 2012. It is about Google trusting the domain. Imagine I go and Google register.com or Go Daddy I will get an offer for anywhere from $2-$4 a domain if I was a a black hat I could exploit that measly four dollar expenditure and What do I really have to lose except for four bucks. So now us so we get sandbox to for times of up to 6 months
So long story short the good guys. Punished because there is no better way of figuring out whether or not we or the bad guys have purchased a $4 domain. And are going to go on a malware campaign or do something good with it. That's why in the future you can Google this the longer the domain has been registered in good standing and the longer it has left before it expires the better rank Google will give you. It makes sense if you're going to put all that time in to just some domain and turn away after a year that's crazy I just reregistered my domain for 5 years it is showing up on some search engine optimization tools as excellent. I suggest you find a good host and do the same.
I think this link should give you sufficient information along with what I've told you below to believe me. If you honestly think that you're going to make any money doing black hat the as Rand says if you believe that you can be the smartest people in the industry go ahead give it a whirl

I would strongly suggest enrolling in this program by distilled.net they are an affiliate the strongest affiliate to SEOmoz out there and they have done a fantastic job getting the basics into where I could learn them very easily here is the link http://www.distilled.net/u/

you said that you had been hit by the economy man you said that you had been hit by the economy man I believe everyone here can relate to that in some way shape or form either they know somebody or they have witnessed or gone through it themselves

RE: It looks to me like crap still wins
Moosa,
I have to agree 100% hit the nail on the head. I can suggest that you may be want to try out some new ways of getting ranked. I like the way time lines are described here
http://www.seosudo.com/seo-process.html one thing you can do right now that will drastically
one way you can get a excellent placement in the SERPS is to simply purchase a domain that is already key worded for your website or has an extremely high page rank.
I want you to know the link here is a partner link so I would get a small percentage if you did use it http://www.sedo.com/
however you may use www.sedo.com if you do not feel like doing that.
The choice of using a company like namejet.com gives you less choice but better prices.
For instance as noted above this may be a good thing or bad thing depending on where you stand I am neutral on it however buying a quality old domain with maybe some links if you're lucky is a huge step in the right direction in my opinion. If I wanted to rank for "table saws" and I was able to buy www.tablesaws.com I would be in a very good place off the bat. For things like that you may want to look at Sudio.com
you will fare well if you write unique content that is interesting and gets people's attention. Post everything on Facebook, twitter, linked and Pinterest and whatever else you can.
Respectfully,
Thomas
