I have found that this plug-in or you can use it via the website scribecontent.com from copy blogger is a fantastic tool. I have writers block and sometimes it is a fantastic aid when researching keywords and also following best practices in getting link juice to the right pages. I would also not worry so much about keywords as I would worry about simply talking about something and making it interesting and engaging for your reader. If I wanted to rank for a keyword regarding Mercedes-Benz I might want to tell a story about a road trip something like that right don't focus 100% of my time on the keyword but I simply write a well-written and engaging blog post.

Hi Sarah,

If you are site is over a certain number of webpages Then you might not get crawled all the way the 1st time. How many pages is your website if I may ask? I don't know the best method to look at the added pages I would do a page crawl you can find it by going to this link

That way you will be able to see any issues with your website that could be going on it is a great tool SEOmoz gives you. I do think it only crawls 1000 pages the 1st time I could be wrong however.

I agree with Dana Google analytics if set up correctly is an extremely powerful tool. You will get to see what is out there and so you know everything that Google ad words is showing you is wonderful information however it is most likely very hard to rank for if you do an exact match. Dana's idea of doing on tail keywords adding a word or two will not only allow you to make it more fitting to what you offer in addition it will give you a much better chance of ranking for that keyword. I also love using http://scribecontent.com/ I think it makes me a better writer.

well your root domain has a trust and rank score so if you optimize your product pages I'm assuming this is some sort of a e-commerce website. The more trust and rank will go to your website's domain or root domain the us spreading it across any subdomain you build. The times when subdomains were considered completely different than non-subdomains are over so it essentially could mean it would reflect identically.

Google Webmaster tools should supply you with this information. In addition Seomoz tools will tell you that and more. Run your website through the campaign section of seomoz you will then see any issues with your website.

You may also want to of course use Google Webmaster tools run a test as a Google bot the Google but should show you any issues you are having such is 404's or other fun things that websites do.

If you're running WordPress there are plenty of plug-ins I recommend 404 returned

I understand what that's like. And want to let you know WordPress does not automatically redirect everything to a /. However you are in luck download the http://yoast.com/wordpress/seo/ plug-in and you will see a on the 2nd or 1st page click to redirect to either / or .htm as both are excellent please do that and it will take care of your problems.

just happened to see your reply. Thank you for the kind words and the helpful answer. I think that if you really want them to get back to you immediately that's a big priority for you obviously it is for the one. I can say this and you have to understand I like WP engine a lot there very good to me but I can understand where you're coming from.

I know that it it sounds like I'm probably trying to promote a company who is not as well known. Why have some hidden agenda because I keep referencing company. Zippy kid is the only manage WordPress host have F5 load balancers that there the fastest. Best load balancer there set up with rack space would cost without markup 6000 something dollars a month. Their sites are ones that you can add collaborators you add your URL then it takes about a minute or 2 to build the site send you an e-mail you can then log into WordPress after which if you need your site migrated they can do that or you can do it yourself. plus the fact that you're in England I am going to private message you 2 numbers one is the CEO's cell phone please don't give it out I just texted him and asked him if I could do this is that okay. The 2nd one is their main phone line. If you want really fast WordPress hosting with excellent support I know. Page.ly has certain hours that they do not do active support. if for whatever reason somebody can help you right away called 2nd number Tom said it was okay.

I should also tell you web synthesis is very fast in replying. However I think you'll like the Zippy kid better. You get the 60 day money back and the content delivery network built-in their base plan.

Well I would then look at what you can carry genes either SEOmoz which you apparently have already and Majestic seo which is a outstanding tool you can earn raven, SEOmoz, Majestic seo and it is still pay less useing SpyderMate so that's what I will try

I would write to Google explaining statically why you are doing it and how you think those links came about. I know that the system is set up so that if you're innocent like a competitor did that to you you would not be penalized.

I have had WP engine for a little bit over a year now went from there base to their Pro package with the CDN. It is extremely fast and a very good host. I really love them you can add the CDN to the base package for $20 a month In addition to using S3 for your images and videos. I actually have an account with every manage WordPress host for the big ones WP Engine, Pagely, web synthesis & ZippyKid

I can tell you the only one that gives you true free DynECY dns is zippy kid pagely does not allow you to use your MX record if use their name servers so you must get another DNS host and you point your domain at their IP in order to use mx or e-mail. You just mentioned all excellent tools. all the Google tools are free however I didn't even bother to check out X-linked sleuth however I do believe it is free. Don't you think that this guy would be better off with a tool similar to Raven for $19 month SpyderMate SEO Tools  does a lot for that money. I'm trying to keep him from having to do run one site and then move on to the next free trial.

Like I said it's very close to Raventools And if you're just starting out it is a perfect way to go instead of waste your time with something that's free. There are tons of sites on the Internet that will give you quick breakdown of page rank and small things but will not get down to the nitty-gritty of the links, keywords, and content analysis. SpyderMate SEO Tools  Does that for $19 a month. They also have free iPhone out that's really impressive. I think if you ask anyone else they will tell you an app that combines SEOmoz, majestic Seo, SEM Rush and Google analytics along with giving you full access to them like Raven tools for $19 is a steal.

I can understand that completely who would only make sense right. If the algorithm can tell essentially if a link should be a 301 and the site is set to 302 essentially what they're doing is allowing the link to act as a link and choose to pass juice through the pipe. That is extremely interesting. It goes to show how important it is to stay current with your website always keep things fresh and always test then test again.

I could not have put it better myself you that the nail on the head. The quality press releases are the backbone of what most quality journalists write about. If I'm in the plastics business and looking for release liner and flexible packaging happens to post a story about W & H upside down building a new water cooled extruder I will most likely see it is sourced from a press release that was put out by W&H without those press releases that journalists don't really have a reliable source to base their story on.

The example I gave is a real thing that happened to me when looking at blown film extrusion lines a niche business.

I think press releases are a fantastic way to get links and source material. Check out PRWeb and pit them against newswire for pricing.

I do agree with you I have seen mixed results when it comes to press releases being ranked at the top. However I have seen many press releases reworded or spoken about over and over again in well-known blogs or Google News. For instance I do some VC work I have found if you are really looking for an answer you will take the time to look.

I believe many of the things that we read in the big Huffington Post style sites are collected from press releases and then combined with journalistic knowledge.

I can tell you for a fact I believe press releases are a great way to get links. I use them I use guest blogging, link bait  infographics & press releases to get most of my links.

Check out skyrocketSCO.co.uk Link For link bait , copyblogger for excellent blogging info. kiss metrics does an excellent job of showing what infographics can do.

Of course I'm forgetting one other big thing video Remember to only use Pro quality video like wistia or Viddler when trying to attain links.

I private messaged house and told him I hope I did not make him feel like I was directing  him to do something. he is a great guy and definitely did not having the intention of not giving a reward. The only reason I actually spoke out is because it happens so often. And it's not the people who don't give the credits fault it should be put somewhere when they go to reply or hit the button stating that the question has been answered. 1st of Hi yes Presley sues are an excellent way of getting links. But only if you have quality content. I would recommend PRWeb or PRNewswire I would strongly disagree with you on the idea that niche bloggers are not reading press releases that are related to their niche. They are constantly googling their niche whatever is there they will read. The idea that most blogs are not run by professional journalists is probably correct. However most blogs that you care to have links from our run by people who either are professional journalists or they are authorities in their fields. Regardless there are not going to only get their news from one source and anything related to a niche they will hear about. If they are a quality blogger. Copybloger.com and tell me Brian is not going to search for every thing related to what he's doing.

The short answer is of course they are excellent ways of getting links but you must have the outstanding content that engages people in order for them to read it. I have used newswire and PRWeb PRWeb is little but less money but I could not tell the difference between the 2  Each did a fantastic job.

Unless you do not want the links to pass on link juice or credit by all means change it to a 301 redirect right away.

You can do this to a point. Remember Google will not give the same amount of credit for reciprocal links so in less you are somehow in business together or there is a good reason for you to be creating reciprocal links I would say to one guest post every once in a while I believe the reciprocal link factor would take down any existing credit given for a great blog post however if you're in the same industry I think that would allow you to blog on their site and they on your site.

It would just have to be on all the time.

Twitter recently changed its title tag on user bio pages to include the rel=”me” attribute on links. That is pushing some people’s bios up to No. 1 on Google and has some marketers concerned. But there is a fix for that.

The rel=”me” attribute looks like this:

The purpose is to identify the relationship between web properties or identities that are owned by the same individual. Many social sites and directories use the rel=”me” attribute automatically when users link from their bios on those sites to their own blogs and websites. That’s fine, but social users typically do not link back to their social bios in the same manner. But they should.

you definitely do not need to make the home page have a / with the keyword it is not necessary if you optimize site correctly. However if you were to do that and you want to know what the rel=canonical is it would be

In order to blog effectively in each blog 300 words or more at least 4 times a week or 20 times a month. It also must be engaging content that keeps people coming back.

I would definitely include the regions where you are located. In the text but do not go over 5% of your text with one keyword phrase if you do Google will penalize you.  I think what you just said is right on the money if you do a well-rounded campaign including local and national search engine optimization you will build up authority and have a site that converts quickly.

No you do not

yes local SEO is always worth doing is 90% of what is in your area. If you look at it like this you have a headquarters somewhere in the United States. You will have a much higher rank in that area if you follow local SEO best practices.

It sounds like your business is not really something that revolves around local search engine optimization and that you should focus on not only local which everyone should but regular search engine optimization as well. You have to know how many links you have a whole bunch of things if you give me the URL I can give you a profile. However you are a pro member therefore you have access to the software if you run the URL to a campaign you will get a ton of new information.

yes the best way to do it is to shoot for the areas you care about most by the relevancy and text meeting place text in your website stating we are in this state and/or town. However if you optimize the site correctly you should do it so that you encompass the entire United States. This is tough to tell you if it will be easy not I don't know what the keywords you are trying to rank for our. If it's medical software you will have a tough time but it is achievable you can rank very high for anything you want if you put the time and effort into it. If you make it so that  your site caters to people already searching for what you sell but say it's an MRI machine you will have a much easier time than simply medical software. Remember when people type into Google they tend to type long tail keywords meeting a more descriptive text placed into Google before searching. I strongly recommend optimizing your site for the keywords most relevant to your company's niche  this will make it much more effective than simply medical software because there are so many you could get people calling you out of the blue for things that you don't even provide.

is there only one city that is the target market? Definitely use the address available in the target market and make a Google places account put the URL and the company name on that address. Via Google places also use Yellow Pages, Bing & Yahoo

when writing your text you need to place keywords relevant to the area that you are trying to target into your text content.

If the keyword that you are searching for using Google ad words is being searched enough it will definitely show up regionally even the exact state or ZIP code sometimes. You may also want to look into using http://www.semrush.com/
