If the domain is decades old it can have high DA. I guess there are many links to those old domains as well. So, I do recommend keeping them unless you did a study and found that they don't attract any traffic. However, that's very unlikely.

RE: Is it worth keeping a decades-old domain that's merely 301 redirecting to the main domain?

RE: Is it okay to update Page Titles and Meta descriptions over a period of time?
Too long titles are not recommended. The optimal length is around 50-60 characters: https://moz.com/learn/seo/title-tag
It's OK to update the title and metas over time. That's one of the common steps to improve SEO.

RE: Does same description in the directories of all affect SEO or not? - But unique on the website
I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you saying that your have around 50 pages with the same contents? Duplicate contents are not good for SEO: https://moz.com/learn/seo/duplicate-content

RE: Do many nofollow links from one website will hurt my website SEO?
This blog article can clarify your doubts: https://moz.com/blog/nofollow-sponsored-ugc
For example, if Google suspects that those 20K links are sponsored but they are tagged as UGC, then there can be a penalty. If those links are legitimate and the website DA is high, then those links can actually improve your reputation regardless of the nofollow attribute.

RE: Trying to cancel, getting an error message.
Hello,
Same problem here. I've emailed help@moz.com requesting assistance.

RE: Do I need Yoast SEO video for YouTube videos?
SEO for videos is a little bit more complex than SEO for web pages because it's necessary to generate the thumbnail for Google, add some code for compatibility with Facebook and other social networks, make it responsive and so on. You can do it yourself or use a plugin to automate all the necessary tasks. I haven't used Yoast Video SEO though. So, I can't tell you how good it is.

RE: Content hubs vs blog
Both options have pros and cons. By embedding the articles into the relevant commercial sections you can burst the visibility of those sections (SEO). However, at the same time it will be harder to get backlinks from independent sources like blogs and news because they don't typically link to commercial contents.

RE: ECommerce Category Page H2
So, currently you are using div to wrap the links to the product pages and you want to replace div with h2, right?
Google does like H tags. It will pay more attention to an h2 than a simple div. That's good for SEO.
The problem is that in your case the product entries are almost empty. There is not much content under each product name. It's almost like using h2 instead of LI (list item). Google will not like that.
So, unless you are planning to write some descriptions under each product name I don't recommend using h2 in this case.

RE: My website spam score just increased all of a sudden from 1% to 67%
Disavowing the spammy domains is not supposed to reduce the spam score because Moz has no visibility of the GSC disavow list. If you disavow a spammy domain you can reduce its negative impact from the Google perspective, but your own spam score will remain unchanged.
-
RE: My website spam score just increased all of a sudden from 1% to 67%
First of all, Google doesn't use Moz spam score: https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/2440327?hl=en
So, if your Moz spam score is high because of "spammy" backlinks it doesn't mean that Google considers your site as spammy. You can check the spam score for every linking domain in the Link Explorer. If there are too "spammy" domains take the necessary actions (disavow them in GSC as the last resort).

RE: Hreflang implementation via sitemap - don’t need canonical tags?
A search engine can discover the pages not only through the sitemap. External links can have different formats and the webmaster doesn't control them. That's why the canonicals are always recommended.
-
RE: Hreflang implementation via sitemap - don’t need canonical tags?
No, you shouldn't remove the canonicals. They are useful to avoid impacting the SEO due to duplicate contents (multiple URLs resolving to the same content).

RE: Setting up international site subdirectories in GSC as separate properties for better geotargeting?
Apparently Google doesn't care: https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/21223241?hl=en
From the webmaster point of view it seems like more work to configure each individual property and review every report separately.

RE: .com vs .co.uk
There are high DA domains like google.com. So, there is nothing wrong with having backlinks from .com domains. It's always recommended to check the authority and spam score for every linking domain regardless of the domain extension. The point is that ".com" is not necessarily lower quality than ".co.uk".

RE: Website DA Decreased
This is a common question in this forum.
Maybe you got some new backlinks with low DA or maybe you've lost some high DA backlinks. You can start looking into your linking profile in the Moz Pro report. More info in this old thread: https://moz.com/community/q/why-my-domain-authority-da-is-decreased-from-21-to-19

RE: Too Many links in a Ecommerce website
150 links is the recommended maximum. If you have more links the search engine crawler will probably ignore them. The detailed answer is here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/internal-link

RE: What is the difference between 301 redirects and backlinks?
The redirects are intended to keep link juice when migrating to a new domain. Actually they just help the existing users find the new domain. If there are redirects to your domain from unrelated websites the Google bot should be smart enough to ignore them. That's why it's better to have backlinks from unrelated sources than redirects.

RE: How to replace a custom platform's homepage with another homepage from another platform domain?
If you haven't done 301 redirects before you can start reading the dos and donts.
For example, many websites use 301 redirects to force "www" and/or "https". Crossdomain redirects are mainly used for migration.

RE: General questions about implementing hreflang using XML sitemap
This feature was introduced by Google. It is also supported by Yandex. The only difference I've noticed is that Yandex doen't like BOM in the sitemap encoding, while Google is OK with BOM. I'm not sure about Bing or any other search engines.

RE: Moz Crawled My Site. Now What?
No, that must be the exact HTTP status code got for each specific URL.
-
RE: I have followed all the steps in google speed ranking on how to increase my website http://briefwatch.com/ speed but no good result
You can use the Web Console in Firefox to see the URL load speed. According to the screenshot attached there is no delay resolving the DNS and connecting to your website. However, there is huge delay of >5s waiting for the response. So, something must be wrong on the server side. I'd recommend checking the server logs (or the Nginx cache logs because there seem to be a cache).
Notice that this delay has nothing to do with the page size or contents. That's why following the steps to optimize the contents didn't help.

RE: SEO Title Length
The problem with long titles is that they will appear truncated in most browsers. Therefore, the search engines will truncate them as well. Sometimes there is no way to make the titles shorter. One way to interpret this issue is "if the title contains some irrelevant words kindly remove them".
-
RE: Moz Crawled My Site. Now What?
The report groups the issues by category: critical, warning, redirect, metadata, content. So, you can start fixing the critical issues first. It's recommended to check them all, except if the content is internal and not relevant for SEO (e.g.: terms of services, policies and so on).

RE: Can we use Youtube Videos of google webmaster on blog post?
Most youtubers don't mind their videos being shared. The more they are shared the more views and likes they will get. Just make sure to credit the author.

RE: Help with international targeting
The language codes you are using in the above examples are not correct. The correct languages should be "en", "fr", "it", "es". If you want to specify the country code it must appear after the language code, more info here.
Keep in mind that the hreflang tags are not used by the web browsers to load the preferred language automatically, they are intended for search engines.

RE: My links are showing in ahref but not in moz.
Moz uses a crawler (bot) to discover links in a similar way as most search engines do. It takes time for the bot to discover new links. You can either wait for the bot to do its job or try to help it find your links sooner. The latter means promoting the sites/pages where the links are hosted and using the Link Tracking Lists in Moz Pro.

RE: General questions about implementing hreflang using XML sitemap
The last URL entry is a duplicate of the first one. Everything else looks fine.
Keep in mind that this feature is Google specific. Other search engines may not understand this format.

RE: General questions about implementing hreflang using XML sitemap
Exactly, you can add the hreflang properties for some URLs, if necessary. Examples.

RE: About DA of the Website
5 months is not that much. I'd start to worry after 9month or more. DA bursting is a slow process.
-
RE: Lazy loading images
Some websites capture a screenshot of the main page (i.e. siteprice, wot, ...) and use it as an icon to identify your website visually. If the image loading is deferred the "preview" may appear as text only. Therefore, this feature can have a negative UX impact, but not in terms of SEO.

RE: How do I treat URLs with bookmarks when migrating a site?
I'm not sure I understood the question. Are you using the term bookmark referring to this part of the URL: "#auto" ? This is appended to the URL to make it refer to a specific point in the page or a page fragment. It's not the same as a bookmark.
When migrating the site you can add the same IDs in the new pages to preserve the fragments. Otherwise the URL will open the whole page by default (if the ID was not found).
-
RE: Content above the Fold, or Below
A good landing page is an image + short description + few links. If you want to add more products I'd recommend making a banner. Otherwise the page will look like a catalog.
By the way, consider adding Open Graph tags. They are very important for landing pages. The open graph tags are used when sharing the link in social networks and IM previews.
-
RE: Unreadable backlinks
The search engines have their own crawlers (bots). For example, if you need to check how Google is indexing your site you can use the Search Console: https://search.google.com/search-console/
Other search engines have similar tools.

RE: SEO Quake says that 75 characters are optimal for the URL and Moz says it is too long. Who shall we trust?
A URL 75 characters long is definitely not optimal. Imagine that you want to share it in IM, SMS, ... It will look ugly, it will probably occupy more than 1 line. So, you will have to use a URL shortener to make it more "sharable".

RE: [help] I launch my site 2 month ago
If you have issues indexing specific articles make sure they appear in the sitemap. You can use the Google Search Console to make sure your sitemap is accepted by Google. The same tool can tell you if there are any issues while indexing your site.

RE: How do I set a link as a "do follow"?
You need to check the HTML code of the link. If it doesn't explicitly say nofollow in the rel tag then it is a dofollow link.
For example, this a nofollow link:
<a <strong="">rel="nofollow" href="https://www.mywebsite.com">Visit my website!</a>
If we remove the nofollow property the link becomes dofollow:

RE: How do I get a back link from CNN?
In the same way as you can get a back link from Bloomberg, Forbes and so on. There are many articles explaining the recommended steps. Basically you can either pay them or make something so great and hot that everybody starts talking about your website.
If your goal is to increase your DA it's easier to convince an organization or university to add a link to your website.
-
RE: Does DA/PA have any effect on rankings?
If the PA and DA are low the page can still appear in the first position if it contains a very specific and informative answer to the user query. So, if you are promoting a very specific topic you can just improve the content quality of your pages to appear near the top. However, if your topics / keywords are too generic you really need to improve your authority.
In the long run it's always good to increase your DA/PA. Blogs and media sites are eager to link to high authority contents, which can increase your credibility even more.
