What can Google tell from a video?
-
I notice that Youtube apparently does kind of an automatic transcription.
What can Google tell about a video? Is it comparing text from a voice recognition transcript? Can it take compare the waveform of a video signal and see how different a video is from another video?
I'm putting together a variety of videos that are similar for different pages and wondering how much do I have to change for each video.
I remember one time I attempted to launch a video that was an exact copy but with a different file name, title and tags and Youtube said, "hey, that's the same video!"
Thanks!

Oh, nothing definitive. Just makes sense to me that a duplicate video track footprint would be seen as a duplicate video. Have not tested this myself though.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the message and weighing in.With voice recognition and the link you mentioned, I can totally believe they look at audio.
You are probably right, but what makes you think they look at video as well?
Thanks...

YouTube is doing some form of foot printing on files looking for duplicate content (video/audio).
If you need to reuse a video, you will need do something to each copy of the video to make it unique. Is there a specific percent difference that they are looking for to have changed?, yes probably, but I wouldn't suggest focus on that. Instead, change something on each video that will both modify the video, and help better inform users. For example, modifying the opening and closing titles of the video to better match the specific circumstance under which you are reusing that video. On a side note, there is good info on adding captions and subtitles here: http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=100077

Counting unique landing pages in Google Analytics: social vs organic channels
Remember the technique Rand posted for counting the unique indexed landing pages on a site? http://moz.com/blog/indexation-for-seo-real-numbers-in-5-easy-steps I'm using Google Analytics to compare this result for the "social" channel vs. the "organic search" channel. The idea is to see whether social or search delivers people to more unique landing pages. I would expect organic search to yield a significantly higher count, due to long tail searches for relatively obscure terms. We have an archive of over 500k pages that Google could be indexing, even if only a fraction of a percent of those might be getting social mentions. But that's not what the numbers show -- I'm seeing roughly 10% higher numbers for the Social channel than for Organic Search. Again, I'm counting unique landing pages here, not the total pageviews or visits. If anyone else here is monitoring these metrics, please chime in with your results. What's the baseline expectation for a large website with hundreds of thousands of pages of issue-centric user-generated content? Should search traffic provide 2x more landing page exposures than social? 5x? 10x? or 0.9x, as in my case? In short, I believe these numbers are pointing to an indexing/ranking problem following a recent site redesign.

Lost with Google services: place, Google +, page, youtube ...?
Hello MOoooooooooooooz ! Sorry to add another post on this. But I think most of us agree on the fact that for Google +, Google is not making very good job. Even worst when we know how low is the engagement on this website. Now I'm facing the following issue: Multi page and accounts through Google services ! One of my customer is playing music. So she has a google + profil and a youtube. Now we created the same for her website: A google page and then a google place (Google team has been sending hundred of messages and so far has not merge them). Then I opened a youtube for the Google Page. So i end up with: A Google + Profil for her (we use for the authorship) A Goole + profil for her website (we use for the SEO) A Google place page (we use for maps SEO) A youtube account for her (come with gmail) A youtube channel for her (easier to promote her job) A youtube channel automatically created through the Google + page (2) What would you do in this case to: Get 1 Google page Get 1 youtube channel I would like something easy to use even for youtube download or reviews and sharing. So I do not know which one to keep, etc ... Hope you can help me as I'm sure many of us faced the same issue.

Google+ for Business
Google+ has thrown a bit of a monkey wrench into my SEO plans. Over the last few weeks, Google+ listings started showing up in the SERPs for my money keywords. The good news is that once we launch our new site, we have a good chance of getting into the Google+ 7 packs. The bad news is that SEO on a national level just got tougher with the local Google+ listings crowding natural listings down the page. Questions: 1. How does Google+ determine who goes into the 7 pack?
Social Media | | CsmBill
2. Is there always a 7 Pack? Can there only be a 4 pack?
3. I see Google+ listings for companies that don't have a Google+ page. How is that possible?
4. Through my keyword research, I have about 20 keywords that are triggering Google+ listings in the SERPs. Some SERPs are only showing 2-4 G+ listings. Is it safe to assume that this is because no one has put those keywords in their Google+ description, and hasn't optimized for those words on their site?0 -

Is Anybody Outside of SEO Industry Getting ROI from Google+ ?? Tell the truth!
I have been watching Google+ and see lots of SEOs sharing ideas and enjoying their circles. However, I have not seen anything outside of the webmaster community that I would hold up as an example of business engagement - and certainly nothing that seems to be producing a good ROI for a business. It seems to me that everyone outside of the webmaster community is on FaceBook and doesn't give a hoot about Google+. And, since FaceBook has the massive amount of people why should I open an outpost in the poorly populated Google+? I am not looking for Google+ evangelist answers. Just looking to hear if anybody anywhere has found Google+ to be a better use of their time than FaceBook and working on your website. I do believe that using Google+ as an author verification platform is a good use of your time if you have valuable content - mainly because it helps your visibility in the SERPs. Beyond that I am looking for validation. Anybody want to point to something good happening or telling a success story? Thanks!

Google Plus 1 button appearance
Has anyone had issues with the creative control google is maintaining with the Plus 1 button. I have a client who is very strict on their design structure and wants to make the google button appear in style with their theme. Has anyone encountered this or knows a moderately easy solution besides hacking away? THanks!
