When providing search results for SEO purposes to you use the exact results in Google Adwords

Hi Mozzers
Just quick question
When an SEO company are supplying their testimonials for example
Keyword Search Term has 33,000 visits a month
Keywords is in position 1but the search volume they are showing is broad, i was always brought up to do research on exact results unless im using the reserch for a PPC campagin?
Has anyone got any ideas?? should it be braod im looking at or exact??

Do you mean in your pitch?
If you're trying to explain what keywords to go after and why then I'd normally use exact simply to set expectations. Using broad often gives an inflated figure which the client would then expect you to deliver on.
If they understand SEO or are willing to have it explained to them, then both figures have their place in setting goals.

If you are selling sports socks you would want to know the numbers for "sports socks" exact, as well as "red sports socks" phrase, and "socks to wear when playing sport" broad.

Hi Barry thanks for that, but when you are trying to get clinets, i would alwayslook at exact search volume as they give more of an realistic result?

I don't really understand how that'd be used in a testimonial, maybe as a case study as to how they chose keywords.
Most testimonials would be of a form "100% increase in traffic" "100% increase in sales from search traffic" or similar. Being first for something with 33,000 searches a month but no relevance or conversions is pointless.
Ultimately testimonials are spin, so do whatever you feel like

Hi, We have a competitor (with a higher DA) using some content from our product pages word for word on a few of their product pages. It's only a couple paragraphs per product page (including the main product description), not the entirety of the content on the page. It also appears they have scraped some content from another authoritative competitor (and even left their brand name mentioned on it!) I've read mixed thoughts on whether plagiarized content will harm the original site, but am concerned since it is an authoritative site. What To Focus On SEO / Link Building for this campaign to rank again..
Hi All; I recently joined Moz and I am really starting to learn a lot here. I am still finding it difficult to figure out what to focus on the most to improve my rankings (although I do have some page 1 ranks) I have one strong competitor who has a SOLID spot in the top 5 of google for the past few years for the keyword I would like to be ranked for again. Huge Update of Google Mobile Search
Latest years google is working a lot on mobile things. How do you think, is it possible after some time to see in mobile search results only mobile versions of websites. As valuable website parameters are completely different for web and mobile versions. Web needs quality content; mobile needs fast and simple content. Now it looks like something is missing in mobile search results when google gives me heavy website, which might even have no mobile version. Either redirection is also not the thing i searched for.

Raise your hand if you're doing SEO for manufacturers please.
When you're working for a manufacturer it's not exactly the same as working for a company that is flat-out informing people with content and links and revealing a lot of information (relatively speaking). Please tell me what you do when you're working with a client that is not willing to reveal too much because competition = fear of the unknown (like if you take a chance and post something online that your competition may use against you). I would appreciate less speculative and more informed answers from people who have actually done this kind of work - as opposed to those who think theoretically they may know the best way to go because they work for other types of businesses that are not as proprietary as manufacturing is. Image only site on top of Google
Hi Everyone, I'm trying to rank in Google for 'Hid xenon' in the netherlands, but there is one site above all results: http://bit.ly/qlsjne As you can see the site almost has no backlinks, and has not a single word in it's content, all images. it's a keyword only domain, and that's probably the only reason why it's ranking that high, but that means then that i can never get higher then him in Google because of it's domainname?
