Is there a tool that can take all your backlinks and categorise them into categories?
-
I am looking for a tool that can go through my site (and others) and categorise the backlinks into categories... such as Directory, Blog Comment, Social, Forum etc? To help you understand the backlink mix? Is there this functionality out there?

As Russ said, there really isn't a tool for this. It takes time, patience and good data sorting after exporting the needed info. I currently have one of my SEO's working on a project very similar to this (researching, analyzing, exporting) back links and breaking the 5K down into categories so we can see the various information. Most of the backlink analysis was done with Moz, and Raven - and he did a great job presenting the data to me this week on Tues.
It's a long process, but worth the time, effort etc. You'll really get a good look at the data and with the various outputs from Moz in the OSE tool - you'll see domain and page authority as well to help prioritize them as you break them down into various spreadsheets.
I think if you go this route, your data will be much cleaner and prepped for use.

There aren't any perfect tools for this. Virante has an in house tool for this purpose but it is by no means perfect - essentially we determine the footprints of many common forms of websites that link, then spider all of the backlink pages to see if they meet any of those footprints. However, even this is imperfect --- how do you easily distinguish a link from a comment vs. the body of a blog post? At best it will give you a high-level idea.

Unfortunately I doubt anyone will point you to a resource that can do this.
First off, there are very few services that can give you an accurate representation of the links pointing to your site (you are however look at one site that can). Secondly, a link can be very hard to categorise because the site itself may not be in any particular category.
For example, I could have a webpage on my own site that I place links on as part of a link exchange. Then after 5 years, I've got so many that it becomes effectivley a directory.
A category for a type of link site is only a term given to it by humans in order to describe it. There is no semantic markup (none thats adhered to anyway) to describe the purpose of a site, be it directory, blog or otherwise.
Here's hoping that another mozzer proves me wrong, at which point I'll go and write an SEO tool that even Moz can't touch!

How to get rid of bad backlinks
So I noticed my rankings going down and spam score going up. So under my spam score there are over 100 links for different websites but ALL redirect to semalt.com I researched it and it says they hijacked a bunched of backlinks but don't know much more. How can I get rid of all those backlinks? I was told I could use the disavow tool but apparently that can hurt my ranking as well. The semalt.com site has no backlink to me - it looks like the pages that have/had my backlinks, they've redirected to them. For instance this is one of the links http://www.oxvideos.xyz/indianantyphotoxxx 422005fb-9240-40a4-8b65-f5b1f5079dea-image.png

What about a No-record backlink in the eye of Google
I have an uncertainty - when I make a backlink as a piece of SEO in some site when I reviewed similar couple of days after. It hasn't filed and I checked its robots record. It appearing Client specialist: Mediapartners-Google Disallow: User-Agent: * Disallow: However, is this make any backlink uphold or only this with the end goal of not ordering in google. I make it straightforward - "Is this sort of backlink creation my site Best Offset Smokers uphold my SEO action or Not?" In this No-record site. Flag Share

I have well over 110 identical backlinks of widely varying quality - is it worth taking the page they're linking to down?
The site on which I'm working has been experiencing a month-to-month decline since the Panda and Penguin updates - I didn't get an unnatural links notification, but have clearly fallen off the face of Google with many of the more important rankings. After running a scan on my backlinks, I found over 110 identical backlinks (it looks like the same medical definition and my website is listed in the endnotes as a source - just the URL, not anchor text), some from reputable websites with high pageranks and others that look very 'spammy.' We've redesigned the architecture of the site, so the actual link itself has a 301 redirect on it, but I'm just wondering exactly how much of a liability is it to have these links out there? I'm guessing it's an all or nothing kind of thing given the identical content on each page - on one hand, I'm pretty frantic to get to the root of the Google penalties and get back in their good graces. On the other hand, I don't want to kill the site completely by going after a set of valuable links. Has anyone dealt with this before?

How long does it take to get links indexed?
How long does it take Google Webmaster tools on average to detect links to my website? What about OSE? My site is fairly new (launched in January) and I've done some guest blogging -- I would think that some links from 3-4 weeks ago would be showing up by now. Am I just being impatient?

Backlinks from Trade Website - Are they worth it?
Hi I am doing some linking building for a niche and slightly dull industry. I have found that trade magazine want a lot of money to publish press releases with back links. The publications are relevant to my industry but have a low page rank on Google. Is it still worth paying for these links? Thanks David

Why aren't my backlinks showing up?
I've recently switched hosting my site on www.vamospaella.com to www.vamospaella.co.uk (using a 301 redirect) and I've been building backlinks. According to Majesticseo, vamospaella.co.uk has 38 backlinks with 8 referrring domains and vamospaella.com has 15 external backlinks from 11 referring domains. Some of these backlinks date back a month, while others have shown up in the last week. However, I have seen no improvement in my Google rankings for my keywords. Why is this?
