Abvoe the Fold

Quality above the fold is often mentioned for SEO. Is there a good definition of what is above the fold?

Above the fold in this case obviously was referring to sites that are cluttered with ads and banners before the actual page content, not necessarily content that can or can't be read without scrooling down.

"The term "above the fold" refers to the part of a webpage that users can see without scrolling down."
-
The term above the fold in this case would not have the same meaning as with a newspaper It rather refers IMO to what the search engine is able to see first when crawling a web page, the question is what "above the fold" means in regards to SEO, in other words to the eyes of the search engine where screen resolutions doesn't really matter.
-
"Above the fold" is a term that comes from newspaper publishing.
In that context it literally means "what can be seen above the fold line". When a newspaper is on display at a news stand it is what the visitor cand see without picking it up. "Above the fold content" is very important for stimulating newspaper sales. That's why the part of the paper "above the fold" received this special name.
For a website it means what can be seen without scrolling.
The problem with using this term with websites is that there are many screen resolutions and some people do not have their browser open to full monitor size.
If you visit a site like foldtester.com you can get some idea of how many people can see different parts of your design "above the fold".
("Above the fold" has nothing to do with word count or banner positions.)

A good definition of what is above the fold:
- All the content that (and should) show above any banners or navigations on the page.
- The first 200 words of your content have more value to the Search Engines, make sure to have them as close to the tag as possible.
As a rule of thumb if you must have banners etc. place them AFTER all the valuable content on the page

Ranking Expectations and Search Intent Alignment
I've recently implemented the page optimization recommendations provided by Moz Pro to help our site rank for specific keywords on certain pages. It’s been about two weeks since we've added these URLs/keyword parings. The optimization scores for the targeted keywords and URLs are looking strong. Also, we've crafted these pages with keyword optimisation in mind. However, we have a couple of questions as we move forward: Ranking Expectations: Since our optimization scores are good, when might we start seeing improvements in our keyword rankings? We know that SEO results can take time, but we would appreciate any insights on a typical timeline based on your experiences. Optimization and Search Intent: While the tool’s optimization suggestions have been helpful in regards to giving us a score for a specific keyword, we’re curious about how this factors into search intent. How does this tool take into account variations in search intent, especially if users search using slight variations of the keywords we’re targeting? Thank you so much for your insight!

On-page SEO
This is a question for the organic SEO experts, once you added the main keyword that you want to rank for in the homepage title, meta title plus meta description, perhaps once or twice in the text on the homepage. How often do you then write it in the content marketing, say blog posts, we want to rank higher on Google for "SEO agencies Cardiff" however if you mention this in the blog posts too much say once a week, this could lead to over optimisation issues?

Content above the Fold, or Below
Hi, I have an ecommerce site with several categories that I consider good landing pages. In order to get better search results I add content to these pages, usually above the fold, then after the content products are listed. Example:https://www.carburetor-parts.com/Carburetor-Kits_c_568.html I worry that customers get to the page and since they don't see the products above the fold, they move on. Should I be putting content in the footer instead of the header and if so how does that effect SEO? This has been bugging me for a long time. Thanks

Sliders and Content Above the Fold
I was just inspecting a wire frame that is going out to a client and realized that the slider may interfere with the "content above the fold." Can't believe this had not struck me on others. If the Header has basic business info, etc. in it and you place a slider to display images in the area just beneath the Header or slightly down from it, does that decrease the amount of content seen a being above the fold? Or, is content above the fold established by virtue of H1,2, 3, etc.?

Meta descriptions
Whats the deal with the date at the start of the meta descriptions? I have not really looked into this but I'm guessing its a blog thing? Take this search http://www.google.co.uk/search?aq=f&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=6packproject#hl=en&xhr=t&q=interview+with+paul+knight&cp=26&pf=p&sclient=psy&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=interview+with+paul+knight&pbx=1&fp=835cd241c8d51fff The beautifully crafted meta description is now being cut short even though its within the character limit and is now only showing 36 characters! Is there a way to remove this? Thanks in advance
