What is a good, structured link building campaign?
-
I feel like I've tried everything up to this point. I also survived all of the recent Google updates, including the recent EMD update (my site is an EMD). Also I am in the financial sector.
I blog every day, I've made some great infographics. I have a very nice website (much better than the competition's), I've done my on-page SEO.
I've done the basic link building too. I've hit good business directories, good blog directories (like Technorati), and infographic directories. I've done a bit of comment linkbuilding but I don't see that being very fruitful.
I also have a large twitter following + a twitter tribe that shares all of my blog posts.
I can't say I've managed to build any sort of community however.
My traffic has grown from 0 to anywhere from 80 to 160 visitors every day in just 3 months, and I am happy with that progress but it seems like I have plateaued. Sure I will continue creating content, but what can I do about link building? That's where the results are probably going to come from.
I've read all the articles about it, took advice from LinkBuildingSchool.com... but at this point, I'm not sure how to continue. I dont want to continue going after blog comment links, I want quality.
Any advice?

Hi Mango Man-
Here is a post with a 6 month link-building strategy. This could help you out and give some structure to your link-building campaign: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/the-6-month-link-building-plan-for-an-established-website

Hey Mango Man,
First off, great job. It seems like you're committed to growing your site and the fact that you are here asking even when you have a moderately successful site speaks volumes for your character.
One thing that it doesn't seem like you've mentioned is Guest posting/press releases.
Are there high authority sites in your niche that you could possibly land a guest posting gig at? The fact that you have an already established site with loads of great content can only be a plus. This means that, if you manage to get a high quality article/infographic published somewhere else, you're likely to have a bunch of people following through to your site, some of whom may likely end up as subscribers/followers of yours.
On that note, do you have a funnel in place, whereby you do encourage people to subscribe to your email list? Getting those people to your site is one thing, keeping them coming back is another. Make sure you're building your email list and using it to your advantage.
Does your niche lend itself to work with non-profits/community organisations at all? Perhaps you could try doing some "charity" work, all in conjunction with a carefully crafted PR plan. People love talking about good things others are doing in the community. Your business/site may or may not lend itself to something like this.
Make sure to establish yourself as an expert in other places because that will likely result in many more fans and visitors.
Keep up the good work and you will see the results!

Just sayin' what I would do.... others will certainly have a different approach....
My traffic has grown from 0 to anywhere from 80 to 160 visitors every day in just 3 months,
Kickass... Nice work....
I also have a large twitter following + a twitter tribe that shares all of my blog posts.
Great asset. You are pulling in traffic and your posts are being shared.
If you have been putting up 15 posts per month and after three months are getting 80 to 160 visitors per day, I think that is pretty good.
If there are still tons of topics that you can create content about I would keep putting them up. Every new one will compete for new keywords and pull in new traffic.
I would make it very easy for people to share your posts using a service like AddThis....
If your posts are pulling traffic and getting shared it is very possible that the value of putting more time into creating more posts will pull in more traffic than time spent linkbuilding.
That's how I would look at it. Before making a final decision I would evaluate where the traffic is coming from, what it is doing after landing on the site. If your content is producing valuable traffic I would produce more of it. Links will arrive on their own if your content can product steady traffic growth. While they arrive you are creating assets for your site.

Social Links through Link Shortners. Does it count?
We use link shortner services like Bitly, Goo.gl, etc. Does the post used while making use of such link shortner services counts as a social signal. Or should we post the complete website url pointing to each page while posting on social sites. Secondly, should we write a new description while posting on Social sites or just copy paste a few lines of original posts?

Questions About Link Detox
Greetings: In April of 2014 an SEO firm ran a link removal campaign (identified spammy links and uploaded a disavow). The overall campaign was ineffective and MOZ domain rank has fallen to 24 from about 30 in the last year and traffic is 20% lower. I purchased a basic package for Link Detox and ran a report today (see enclosed) to see if toxic links could be contributing to our mediocre rankings. As a novice I have a few questions for you regarding this the use of Link Detox: -We scored a domain wide detox risk of 1,723. The site has referring root domains with 7113 links to our site. 121 links were classified as high audit priority. 56 as medium audit priority. 221 links were previously disavowed and we uploaded a spreadsheet containing the names of the previously disavowed links. We had LinkDetox include an analysis of no-follow links as they recommend this. Is our score really bad? If we remove the questionable links should we see some benefit in ranking? -Some of the links we disavowed last year are still linking to our site. Is it worthwhile to include those links again in our new disavow file? -Prior to filing a disavow we will request that Webmaster remove offending links. LinkDetox offers a package called Superhero for $469.00 that automates the process. Does this package effectively help with the entire process of writing and tracking the removal requests? Do you know of any other good alternatives? -A feature called "Boost" is included in the LinkDetox Super Hero package. It is suppose to expedite Google's processing of the disavow file. I was told by the staff at Link Detox that with Boost Google will process the disavow within a week. Do you have any idea if this claim is valid??? It would be great if it were true. -We never experienced any manual penalty from Google. Will uploading a disavow help us under the circumstances? Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it!!! Problem with internal links
Hello! Our domain, http://www.unionroom.com/, is having a strange issue with OSE in that it is telling us our internal pages aren't linking to one another. An example of this is that it is showing our About page ( http://www.unionroom.com/about/ ) only having three links, but this link appears twice on every single page on the website (~200 pages) in the header and footer. We've hung around for a little while to see if OSE would correct itself, but it hasn't and this now suggests that it may be an issue with our in-linking structure. Can anyone spot any issues with our build? The rest of the websites that we produce, that are all built in the same way, all have healthy internal linking structures according to OSE. Very confusing! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Subdomain Metrics Links??
I have been analysing my companies website against our competitors and we beat them hands down on everything apart from the total links in the subdomain metrics. Our competitor jumped above us a couple of months ago to grab the number one spot for our industries most valuable keyword. They have had a new website designed and after looking at the source code and running it through SEO MOZ in comparison to our site I can't see how they have manged to do it. We beat them hands down on all factors apart from subdomain metrics > Total links where they have twice as many. When it comes to Page Specific Metrics and Root Domain Metrics we easily beat them on all factors. Does anyone have any ideas what I need to do to improve the subdomain metrics? Thanks

Create a link or redirect?
We have 60 demo movie pages on our site. We no longer link to these movie pages internally, because they are outdated; however, a lot of our partner companies are still linking to these pages. Some of these pages will have 10-15 linking root domains and a page authority of 30+... so pretty decent authority. These pages only include a movie on the pages, no links. I am trying to pass some of the link juice from these pages to other pages on our site. I am wondering if I should: A)Include transcripts on these pages, then link back to our current product page or solution pages? B)Set up redirects from these pages to a product or solution page? C)Set up a redirect to our homepage? Any advice? Thanks, Mike

Do you think video syndication is a good link building tactic?
I am creating a process & strategy for publishing videos and would like some feedback on if it is worth syndicating the videos on multiple third party sites either manually or via TubeMogul. Currently the plan is to put the video on our main site, create a video sitemap, submit to webmaster tools so that hopefully the videos on our site show up in the SERPs. Then wait a week and syndicate on third party sites such as youtube, vimeo, viddler, etc. Are there any negative side affects? My thinking is that some people may only see the video if it is on youtube and the other niche sites because they may search those sites for videos rather than Google/Bing. Your thoughts?
