Exact Domain Match Ranking Very Well

Hello,
I have some competitors that purchase targeted keywords, host a single page, and do a re-direct on to their inventory page. The problem Im having is getting above them, along with other competitors that have a high DA. They have little or no content on the page but rank very well. Is there anyway around sites like this?

I feel your pain, I am in the same situation. Despite what others are saying about EMD they still rank well, & it drives me nuts. You can either try to get as close to them as possible & make your listing stand out with rel author & a great title, or you can invest heavily in to trying to out rank them. Or you could join them.

I hope that my competitors all spend the next month registering hundreds of domains to host single pages.
I don't know what methods you are using but they are probably better than these competitors.

Wrong page ranking and rank drop, help!
Dear Moz community I would like to hear your advice about our current SEO problems. Our website is www.poolsonline.nl. This is a website where people can learn the Polish language on our website. This website has been online since 2007. The website got really outdated, so we built and launched a new version on March 1st (one month ago). We have created a salespage that we would like to rank for the keywords 'cursus Pools' (Polish course) first of all and 'pools leren' (learn Polish) secondly. The page is https://www.poolsonline.nl/cursus-pools-leren-spreken/ The old website was on rank 4-5 (roughly) for 'cursus Pools' and 'pools leren'. When we launched the new website we were on the top 5 with two of our pages. We were even on rank 1 and our salespage was also showing on the first page and often also in the top 5 (below the 'wrong' page of ours). We got quite a lot of trafic and new clients. However the problem was that the wrong page was ranking higher. We wanted our salespage to rank and not our home page (https://www.poolsonline.nl/) and not our free lesson (https://www.poolsonline.nl/lessen/groeten-en-gesprek-voeren-in-het-pools-les-1/). So what we did: Read/watched recourses about this problem: https://moz.com/blog/wrong-page-ranks-for-keywords-whiteboard-friday and https://moz.com/blog/wrong-page-ranking-in-the-results-6-common-causes-5-solutions and others. Removed the keywords (cursus pools en Pools leren) from the wrong pages (home and free lesson pages). Optimized the Salespage for these keywords Improved internal linking with these key words to our salespage Worked on link building for our salepage. We got about 5-10 links to our salespage in the first week of March (5 seems to be significant for this competition and we are working on more). These links are not yet in Moz OSE, but Google has indexed these pages and links. We are now on the bottom of page 1 or on page 2 for 'cursus Pools' and 'Pools leren' and not with the desired page Questions we have for you to help us: Why do you think our salespage is not showing up anymore for these keywords ('cursus pools' and 'pools leren')? Do you think we got a penalty for over optimization or bad links? What can we more to get our salespage to rank for these keywords? (we are working on building/earning more links) What can we do to restore our rankings and not drop lower anymore? Do we need to give our efforts more time? How long? Any other adivce? Fixing broken links from old domain
Howdy Mozfans, I am fixing some broken links and I was wondering if someone could help me out. Multiple old domains (www.olddomain1.com, www.olddomain2.com and so on) have been migrated to www.currentdomain.com/olddomain1 and www.currentdomain.com/olddomain2 over a year ago. The old domains redirect to the current domain but we found that a lot of those were redirecting to 404 pages at the current domain. We now redirected all URL’s that were on the old domains correctly. Will those redirects ever get indexed (and passing linkjuice) since the old domains haven’t been used for such a long time? If not, would it be a good idea to redirect the 404 pages on the current domain (that were a result of the previous redirects)? Thanks in advance!

Sending Domain Authority from Root www domain to *
Hello all Some advice please. Im working with a friend who has a website (obviously). Its based on wordpress and is accessible by the link http://exampledomain.com. The problem is he has some good links out there which are pointing at http://www.exampledomain.com. As yet Im uncertain how he has setup his DNS, he maybe is doing a forward which would leave the DA back with the www subdomain. What is his best practice to inherit those links into his actual domain? Thanks

Ranking Multiple Domains Simultaneously
What kind of strategy would one implement to rank multiple domains in SERPs? (One domain per keyword) I am looking more into link blocking and that, but I don't know the effectiveness and consistency of the strategy. Does anyone have any recommendations? I really can't be arsed giving every single site it's own full SEO treatment 🙂 Thanks very kindly and in advance for your thoughts 🙂

Question about ranking and links
Hi, Some back ground info first: My DA/PA is 42, the competitors who show up in the search engines for the term I am after have DA/PA 55/60. I have been creating anchor text links which target the term im after through guest blogging usually blogs with DA/PA 40+, I did this consistently with a guest post every 3 days for about a month so that's around 10 guest posts. And I also did some brand name blog comments, but these were no-follow and added sig to some forums. This moved me from page 5 to page 1, position 4. I then stopped and over the last 3 weeks it slipped to position 6 then to position 8. The competition doesn't look to actively target this term looking at the data from opensite explorer there main anchor text is there brand names. Why would I be slipping through the results? Not moaning just want to understand why so I can counter it. I was thinking about going for social signals through a blog to help.

Are nofollow links really not effecting rank?
I honestly find it hard to believe that nofollow links are not being considered for rank. Take for example Google finds 2,000,000 nofollow links for a site. Are they really going to ignore that?

Ranking problems in top 3 need some advice from the PROs
HI there, im new to this forum but im doing SEO quite a while. I lost touch with the whole SEO community while building my business's so I said i better get back in touch before I lose my most valued skill. I set up a gift website 3 months before xmas. We decided to focus on the following keywords starting out, gifts, gift ideas, gifts for him, gifts for her and christmas gifts. We have managed to rank No.1 for gift ideas, No.2 for gifts. For "christmas gifts" we could not get it onto the first page, it was hanging around the 12 and 13 spot for weeks, so we decided to stop linking to the page with anchor text "christmas gifts" and use related keywords, the result, we shot to NO.1 within 2 weeks. I now have the same problem with "gifts for him" and "gifts for her" except, i have tried everything but we are still hanging around 4-6 spot on page one, I cant get them into the top 3 and cant understand it. Ive done the following to try give it a boost. Increase the variation of the anchor text Decrease the amount of keywords in title tag Link to it from high PR pages Im really lost and its really bugging me the fact all the other keywords are ranking so well. The only thing I can think of from my research and perhaps someone might be able to give me some advice on this (Backed up by past results) is we have not once linked to this page with the actual URL, 100% of the links are varied anchor text. Would perhaps linking with the plain old URL help it, its really bugging me as we did so well with everything else using 90% white hat, 10% grey hat seo. Please help. Should I use the Root domain as a landing page for 2 languages?
Dear Sirs, I am developing a site www.mysite.com , this site has content in spanish www.mysite.com/es and in english www.mysite.com/en I would like to know if for SEO purposes if it would be good to have an enter page (landing page) at the root of the domain www.mysite.com where the users can choose the language, so I can get backlinks from both languages to the home page in this case the enter page. The thing is for spanish I dont see many seo resources so this way I can get links for the homepage www.mysite.com from english and spanish resources. and then focus in each folder language to get links for each one, english link sfor /en and Spanish Links for /es Thanks in advance, David
