Should I no follow all external links?
-
I have worked with a few different SEO firms lately and a lot of them have recommended on the sites I was working on to "no-follow" all external links on the site.
On one hand this traps all the link equity/Pagerank. On the other I would think this practice is frowned upon by Google.
What are some opinions on this?
-
That is true. If you nofollow a link, nobody gets the PR.

Hi EGOL,
This caught my eye - 'If you nofollow a link the PR evaporates.'
When someone nofollow's a link, in most cases the person doing so thinks they are stopping PR from leaking out of the site.
If it evaporates, no one gets the PR?
Maybe I have got the wrong end of the stick here?
-
I link out to dozens of websites every week and every one of those links are followed.
-
This. I asked the same question many moons ago and EGOL wrote a really good reply along the lines of "You indicating to Google that you're linking to untrustworthy sites. Why link to them at all then?"
Anyway, it changed my opinion of external links. I ALWAYS make them followed, there is really no point having them no followed.

This is not true.
If you nofollow a link the PR evaporates.
And... if you link only to good, trusted sites then why nofollow anything? It tells google that you link only to untrusted sites.

Hi Spencer,
I did have the occasion that I no-followed an external link that was on the footer of the website, otherwise quite some link juice would of been wasted.
However, whenever I do new blog posts I make all external links do-followed within the blog post. By doing this you could let the sites who you linked out to know that they received a link, and the will enjoy the fact that it is do-followed. They might even link back or share the blog post on their social media accounts.

Surge in spammy links
Hi, Our website www.foodjet.com has recently seen a huge amount of spammy incoming links to non-exisiting URLS: They all target pages that lead to a 404 and which clearly do not exist on our website. Since they have started to appear our DA has plummeted. I have already disavowed some domains, but more re-appear just as fast. I have also checked if our site has been hacked, which does not seem to be the case. What am I missing? And/or what can I do?

Disavow links old links
We have built a lot of sites and there a few sites we no longer manage or want any association with. When I have looked at webmasters I can see 20 to 200+ odd links back to our site. The page however at source has no reference to our website. I have searched the code but there isn't anything. Is it safe to disavow these or just leave them?

Too many links?
Hello! I've just started with SEOmoz, and am getting an error about too many links on a few of my blog posts - it's pages with high numbers of comments, and the links are coming from each commenter's profile (hopefully that makes sense they're not just random stuffed links). Is there a way to help this not cause a problem? Thanks!

Should I wory about spam domains linking to me?
A while ago my site had a pharmacy hack done to it and created a ton of spam links. I've since fixed the issues on my site but I'm still showing links from their sites. See screen shot: http://awesomescreenshot.com/0497cc147 I think they are links from the spam site to me and not my site "yakanger" linking to them correct? Do I need to worry about these? Can I get rid of them?

How to defend against link cloaking
Hi, I own a website where recently a lot of backlinks have been going to my old domain that 301's to my new domain. During the past 2 months I have noticed a massive amount of links pointing to my old domain. When I go to look at the links and go to the page all I see is a search bar which to me this seems like link cloaking. I am not sure what I should do. Obviously I am not doing the link building and someone is targeting anchor specific keywords from multiple domains that all look the same. My question is should I report it myself in google webmaster tools before I get hit with a filter or penalty, or would this force them to penalize me. And if I do get caught up in a penalty I would not know how to fix this since I doubt the webmaster is linking to me out of the kindness of his heart. Any advice? Thanks

No results with Link Analysis
So I have been working with a domain since November last year that still shows no improvement in regards to the link analysis. I am baffled because we have gotten them onto the first page on Google for a few of the keywords we are optimizing. Any help with this is greatly appreciated and I am a noob so definitely open to learning. Thanks in advance to all of you. Domain in question - www.modernportablerefrigeration.com Domain is currently on a shared server if that makes any difference. Cordially, Todd Richard admin@richfinn.org
