Attorney / Lawyer SEO
-
Hey Guys,
How do you handle keywords for an attorney going after local keywords.
City, Keyword Attorney? Example: Dallas, TX DUI Attorney
City, Keyword Lawyer? Example: Dallas, TX DUI Lawyer
City, Keyword Attorney / Lawyers? Example: Dallas, TX DUI Attorney / Lawyer?
Looking forward to good responses!

I thought you were mainly interested in keyword research and not about on-page SEO. In that case, Irving's answer is good.
For your title tag, you could also use the lawyer's name to keep it more natural i.e.: "DUI Attorney in Dallas John Doe" or "John Doe DUI Attorney in Dallas TX"

Great answer and thank you!

Yes, I understand that. You build the page titles based on what people are searching for. I don't have time to do any testing, thus the reason I asked the board for their expert opinion.

main keyword first and then secondary. the most important main keyword should be at the beginning of your title tag. so depending on the keyword research, probably something like:
DUI Lawyer in Dallas Texas | Drunk Driving Attorney in TX
DUI Attorney in Dallas TX | Drunk Driving Lawyer in Texas
EDIT: note both state and abbreviation are included, and secondary keywords (going on intuition here based on a previous client) "attorney" and "drunk driving"
ALSO:
Make sure your Google local and + page is set up and completed with all your info and website. Local searches will show places pages and you want to be in the 7 pack! at least and even better at the top of that pack. Have clients take the time to give you positive reviews on your places + page too, very important!

To come up with good local keywords, you have to think as if you were one of his potential customers:
I don't usually search like "Dallas, TX dui attorney" but instead "dui attorney in dallas" or "dallas dui attorney" or "dui lawyear in dallas tx".
Come up with all possible variations and see what works best. I would even recommend you to set up a test adwords campaign using exact matched keywords and see which ones have the most traffic. You can also use phrase and broad match to find new keywords.

Which keyword to use (plural / singular)
Hi guys. So I'm racking my brain with a question whether I should use plural or singular keyword as a focus keyphrase of my page. The page that I'm optimizing is basically a review page of different websites offering proofreading services. Considering the fact that this is a review and I mention a lot of websites on my page, I decided to rank for a plural keyword that ends with "services". However, this keyword is very unpopular (ahrefs doesn't show any volume for it), while singular "service" has about 100 searches per month. As far as I understand, Google sees both keywords as synonyms, because search results for both keywords are almost identical. Should I change my keyphrase to singular "service" (even though the page mentions a lot of services), or stick with "services" instead? Do I have a chance of ranking for "service" if I stick with "services" in this case? Thank you.

Blog - SEO Better? MyCompany.com/blog or marketing.MyCompany.com/blog? Percent difference?
We started blogging aggressively 3 months ago to bolster our organic search. We are building a new website and wonder if hosting our blog directly on our site is better than marketing.mycompnay.com? Is MyComanpany.com/blog a better choice - what percentage of SEO value would it be? We are building a new WordPress website. Our blog is currently hosted on a subdomain with HubSpot software. WILL OUR SEO BE SIGNIFICANTLY MORE EFFECTIVE HOST THE WEBSITE DIRECTLY OUR DOT COM? It won't be as convenient with HS tool but we want the best possible SEO.

How would you optimise a site for close variations of a keyword, such as [data capture + application/app/software/technology/tool/solution]
Hey all, We're a data capture app looking to optimise our site: akkroo.com. There are lots of industry-specific & use-case-based content pages we can create, but how should we optimise our site to capture traffic for keywords that could (almost) be classified as synonyms? Particularly, I'm thinking keywords such as: data capture app data capture application data capture software data capture tool data capture tools data capture technology etc. My industry-specific pages will all have completely unique content, but I'm struggling to work out how I should architecture pages that target keywords that are almost identical, such as the list above. The content on these pages would technically be 'unique', but each page would be very similar to one another. And how would we link to these pages internally? I can't really see it adding to the user experience, but I can't see how I can target all of these keywords without having individual pages for each... Thanks in advance for any help that can be shared; appreciate it! Brian

What is the relationship/difference between categories and keywords in terms of google local seo?
I know that they are very similar as search signals, but I would like to understand the exact relationship. My company is in the process of adding local seo services to our seo offerings, and we are trying to hammer out a process for determining optimal categories for businesses based on keywords we are already using for optimizing their sites. Any insights or suggestions on how best to do this would be much appreciated.

Keyword analysis/optimization for blog sites (avoiding self cannibalization)
Hi there, I work on a site that has regular blog and article posts (or at least, we're shooting for regular), and I'm trying to work on a fluid approach for keyword analysis and optimization. I am wondering...is it best to research new keywords for each new post? I am unsure of what the effect is of optimizing multiple pages for the same keyword. I've been using the SEOmoz report card tool to grade my on page optimization, and I noticed one of the criteria was to avoid self cannibalization. Will I be competing against myself if I optimize multiple pages for the same keyword? I'm worried about what will happen in a month or two when I run out of common keywords and have to start optimizing our latest posts around really obscure keywords. Am I thinking about this the right way? Thanks!
