Getting a link from a blog on every page querying what OSE is suggesting
-
Hi Guys
My client has been offered a link from someone within their industry on their blog. The blog has 20 categories and multiple (hundreds if not more pages within each category). The owner of the website has said that would be happy to give my client a link on each of their pages (including their homepage).
They have done this for another couple of people who they like before, so I typed these domains into OSE and noticed that for each page it shows a link and also the page authority.
Domain Authority of this blog giving the link is 71
Home Page PA - 76
About us PA - 60
it goes on.........the least PA being shown is 52 so lets for arguements sake say the other 18 or say categories are PA of 52 too.
My question is surely the OSE is not accurate to imply that my client could be passed page authority from 18 categories at 52 each + home page of 76 + about me page of 60?
Hopefully you understand the point I'm trying to make

Thank you guys I think that gives me enough info to make an informed decision!

Hi Nicola,
Without getting into the "secret sauce" of Linkscape (which I don't even know) it's safe to say that sitewide links from the same domain don't pass the same page or domain authority to their target as an equal number of links from different domains.
That said, each sitewide link would, technically, pass a small amount of MozRank (similar to PageRank) to the target.
But Alan's most is most important. Sitewide links, although natural, can be dangerous. This is especially relevant since the recent Penguin update, which many believe targets over-optimized anchor text. I've personally seen sites drop in rankings after recieving a juicy, exact-match anchor text duplicated site-wide in the sidebar of a blog. And this was long before Penguin.
If you gave me the choice between 1000 sitewide links or just one contained somewhere in a paragraph of text, even on a low-authority page - I'd almost always choose the single link.
This WhiteBoard Friday may explain a little more: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/beyond-exact-match-anchor-text-to-next-generation-link-signals-whiteboard-friday
Hope this helps. Best of luck with your SEO!

More important than Moz data is what the impact would be of getting thousands of links from one domain from an SEO perspective.
When you get a link to a site, the "natural" type would be one link, or a couple, unless all the links are coming from a site where you are an author and those links are sometimes within content but always within author bio boxes. (and those are only links to an author's site, NOT using any type of SEO keywords not specific to the author, if even THEY are going to have real value).
Getting hundreds, or worse, thousands of links from one source is typically not otherwise "natural". It instantly gives the appearance of being bought/paid for.
While some sites can get away with that under some circumstances, if you look at it from an SEO best practices perspective, it's dangerous, now more than ever. So I would SERIOUSLY consider recommending that your client turn such an offer down. The risk is probably not worth the total value even if you did get such high weight based on Moz reports.

Internal links: How do I find keywords that are not linked to a URL?
Hi Moz members I'd really like to place an internal link of every instance of an important keyword phrase "cycling caps" or "cycling cap" to my eComm category page

https://www.prendas.co.uk/collections/headwear/cotton-caps I feel this would not only help my customers browsing my store, but I believe it will help from an SEO perspective. How can I search my site using Moz, Screaming Frog, Google etc to find every time cycling cap(s) is used but is not linked to the above URL? I can then apply the same for cycling jerseys, socks, etc Andy0 -
Domain Authority and Page authority for external links. What's the difference in value?
Hi Guys. I understand the difference between page authority and domain authority in terms of how likely that page is to rank. But what about a links from a high DA site, but from a low PA page? We’ve identified a client with extremely high DA (73/100), but their blog page has a PA of 1/100. Would a link from this page be pretty much valueless due to the low PA? Or would it still be quite strong as the DA is so high? Perhaps you could point me to some good reading or Moz post on this topic? Thanks guys. Isaac.

Can you get "link juice" from an outside company's/organization's intranet?
Will you get the same "link juice benefits" from a University, Government Org, or public company's intranet that are linked to your webpages – vs the benefits that you would get from links from their public webpages? Assume that the external webpages have very high Domain Authority, MozRank/Trust etc.

PR4 blog but no data in OSE?
I've recently been asked to guest post on a site that appears to be PR4 but when checking the sites authority on OSE no data shows up. The site is http://www.osozo.com. I'm looking for opinions really, first of all on how it can be PR4 but OSE has no data on it and secondly whether it's a good site for me to post on? Any help much appreciated!

Post Penguin Blog Commenting Links
I have heard a few different things, and I am still not quite clear. Regarding blog commenting, what is the preferred way to do it now? Should the text that is hyperlinked just be our main website name written out http://www.example.com? Is anchor text the text that is hyperlinked? And should the link always go to our home page, or should it go to whatever page we are commenting about. Is blog commenting still good to do post penguin?

Paid Blog Posts getting Deindexed?
Hello, We've used a popular paid blog posts platform to get back links through blog posts. Recently, performed a link audit noticed a very interesting problem. 40% of the 49 sites we purchased paid posts from, have been de-indexed. These blogs are the kinds that would take money from almost anybody in any given niche to write a review and give a paid link to you. So, I assume most of these blogs had a high number of outbound links. Their page rank has also been demoted to 0 (obviously since they're deindexed). Now, our dilemma is that should still go ahead with paid blog posts, after checking for the following: 1. PR 2. Google Penalty The sites at the time of purchasing the posts were not penalized. But 40% of the sites being completely de-indexed is a staggering number. Can someone please suggest whether to go with paid blog posts techniques or not?

Do VigLink links get indexed, and then pass SEO juice to the merchant?
You can find the service at viglink.com, they do dynamic linking to anchor text for participating publishers on a cost-per-click basis. Less interested here in the conversion quality and more interested in the broad SEO value. Any ideas?
