Competitor Analysis Comes Up Short
-
Hey guys,
The site i am working on is not necessarily in a totally niche market, however when I analyze the links that the competitors have for our target keywords all that I see is pr releases, article submissions and predominately directory listings. I am still learning SEO so bare with me, but I was going to start my campaign trying to guest blog and provide good content on well ranked sites. I was hoping my competitors link building campaigns would give me an insight as to where to go? I am now wondering if I am taking the right route. A little re-assurance would go a long way

I see the same thing. I don't go after those types of links. I just use that as a sign that the competition is easy.
So I write lots of content for my products... how they are used, how to maintain them, ideas of things to try. These articles get my site out there for lots of keywords, they attract a few links and in this type of competition just a few genuine links are move valuable than a ton of PR, directories and syndicated articles.

you're in a good spot! I find myself in a similar position. Our competitors to this day participate in a ton of black hat seo tactics. For whatever stupid reason, Penguin hasn't hit them. YET. I believe with all of my heart that they will be affected in the near future, possibly the next big update, and all of my efforts will be rewarded.
I think you are in the same boat. Continue your proper SEO tactics, building content, social media, guest blogging on relevant sites, etc and I would be willing to bet you will be rewarded in the long run. The tricky thing about this industry is not gaining instant gratification in a world like the internet where instant gratification is the norm.
So good luck balancing that and I'm rootin' for ya!

Inbound link analysis
Hi all! we are doing some back link analysis on a clients competitors site. The competitor has roughly 300,000 links generated from an estimated 1,500 domain names. Is there an easy way to determine how many of the 300,000 links come from which of the 1,500 domain names? Essentially we want to see which of these domain names are generating the majority links? Is there a tool we can use to determine this? Or is it good old fashioned leg work? Ideas...? Thanks in advance 🙂 Phil.

Has your site ever been targeted by malicious link building executed by a competitor?
I'm pretty sure one of my client's sites has been targeted by malicious black hat link building tactics employed by a competitor site. Over the last few weeks we've gotten 100s of super low quality spammy backlinks. No one has been doing link building, so the only thing I can think of is that competitor entered our URL into some spammy backlink building sites. Has anyone else experienced this? It's the real estate industry, so I wouldn't be surprised considering how competitive it is, but I'd love to hear your experiences.

I have links coming from spammy sites that DO NOT exist anymore... Disavow or not?
Hi There !!! I´m cleaning the link profile of one of our sites and making the typical analysis I have found the following scenario: All SEO tools that helped me to gather the data (WMT, opensite, majestic) are showing me that I have links coming from spammy sites that actually are not online any more. In other words, the spammy site where the link is coming is not alive (when I try to check the page itself I´m having a 404 or domain expired). My main question is… Should I disavow these domains links? or should I simply ignore them? We got an unnatural penalty and we are doing the whole proccess (checking sites, contacting, etc….). Many Thanks for your help

How do I find links that link to several competitor sites?
I want to find linking pages that link to several of my competitors. Those are likely to be lists of tools I can also add my website to. My application is a dashboard tool/kanban board. So if I find a page linking both to say kanbannery.com and kanbanflow.com it will be likely to be a collection of links to kanban tools, ad my application can be relatively easy added. Magestic SEO has a "clique hunter" - is there anything similar in MOZ suite of tools?

Search Engine: Google Australia (organic) Keyword: Staging Hire Previously Ranked: 20 After several article and link submissions it jumped to 10. But in just one week slipped back to 20. Same thing happened with few other keywords too. Why?
