i was wondering whats the best way to optimise a wordpress website for SEO?
Any advice or tools would be greatly appreciated, currently the site is not very well optimised and is very new.

I was planning to carry out all the normal processes of SEO to the site such as KW research, on-page content, header titles, competitor analyses, off page factors etc,
I am just concerned by using the Wordpress admin CMS that it is encapsulating the normal seo elements such as page title, description, page names- friendly urls and was looking for any modules that provide direct access to these areas from within the admin panel rather than letting wordpress manage them .
I have looked at Yoast and felt that would provide what I am looking for, I am interested in the overall use of Wordpress and SEO considerations as a whole? The trade off for having a user control panel to create the website - like the effects on navigation links, Javascript code encapsulation?

Lots of people use Yoast or similar methods and think that they got all of the bases cover. Thereby they forget using their brain.
Often adding a couple extra words to category pages such as "news" or "information" or "facts" can pull in 10x more traffic. Similar results can often be obtained on other parts of the site.
So, do kW research, think about what people are searching for and that hour or two spent might earn the highest amount of money per hour that you ever make in a lifetime.

Yoast is definitely worth looking but there is also All in One SEO which is widely used. I have over 100 WP websites using it and I'm very happy with it.
All In One SEO has a Premium version but I never tried.

Would Too Many Scoop.it Backlinks Hurt Our Website?
Hi, We noticed in our Google Webmaster Tool that we have received a total of 10,162 links (still increasing) from Scoop.it over a period of less than 2 months from January. All these links are linking to our home page, and it is topping the list of "Who links the most" under our "Traffic > Links to Your site" in our Google Webmaster. Our second domain that links the most to us only has 1,831 links to our domain. According to our marketing service company who posted our brief bookmark content on Scoop.it: "That just has to do with the page structure of that site. If multiple scoop.it users promote your URL, the link will appear multiple times on each user's page. Plus, it's a curated site, so the link will be recommended to other users. Scoop.it has an Alexa of <1000 so it's a very popular site. If Facebook was fully indexed by Google (and other search engines and crawlers had full access), you'd see a similar situation. There's currently no way to exclude specific social sites, sorry for the bad news. The high # of links from scoop.it are totally normal (and natural for that domain), it's just because of all their internal linking. Google seems to LOVE scoop.it (60M+ pages indexed), so I wouldn't worry." However, we still don't feel comfortable with the explanation because it appear so very unusual and clearly appear to be 'Unnatural' to us as we concern. I wonder if anyone knows if this would get us into trouble with Google? More seriously, get us deindexed due to 'Unnatural' backlinks in short period of time, from one single domain? Youtube SEO: Does your channel name / user name matter?
My predecessor left me a gift of what is arguably the worst kind of Youtube channel name: Our company's name condensed to an acronym with some additional gibberish that may or may not have meant something to her. In short: Our channel name will never be searched for, will never provide any ranking boost. Now our Youtube success has been very marginal so far: 31 subscribers, 7,300 video views. Given that situation, should I seriously consider scrapping my channel and starting something new with a keyword targeted channel name? Or does channel name matter so little that I should hold on to my 7300 video views?

What is the best way to leverage ABC, CBS, or NBC?
My client has been interviewed by one of the top 3 networks and the interview will appear on the evening news. Is there a way on OSE or any other site to find the 50 most socially shared URLs on a given domain?
I'd love to see which URLs on a specific domain get socially shared the most. I know I can use OSE to say figure out exactly how much social sharing has happened on let's say this URL:
