What makes a "perfectly optimized page" in 2013?
-
Hi all,
I was re-reading this blog http://moz.com/blog/perfecting-keyword-targeting-on-page-optimization and wondered how relevant you guys thought this post still was?
Moz link directly to it from their 'learn' page http://moz.com/learn/seo so I'm interpreting that to mean it is still accurate and as current as it can be?
What else would you add to it?
Thanks,
James -
For example, social sharing links and authorship markup are good additions to a well-created landing page. While they may not technically be on-page factors, they are things that you implement on-page that can have a big impact on the overall strength of the page.

Thanks all for your responses.
@Chris - it would be interesting to hear what you think are the additional bits of information you would add?
@Rand - no need to apologise, it's a testament to the quality of the original post that it's still relevant 4+ years later.

Hi James - I've been meaning to write an updated version of that post. I've got an email in my inbox with the task on my to-do list and will do my best to get to it soon. Sorry for the delay!
In the meantime, the comments above are very kind, but also accurate. It's still a pretty solid guide to on-page optimization.

That post could be considered a sort of bible for those, like me, that are just starting SEO and On-Page optimization.I have been sticking to those suggestions and I have to say that it works.
As Chris says, some more additional information could help, but in my point of view, that article gives the basic guidelines to follow and I found it really useful in terms of SEO results.

I'd say as a testament to how well is was put together, it is still a very good guide for SEOs to follow, even 4 years later (a long time in our field). There may be additional information that's useful today but you won't go wrong following what's on that page.

Hi James,
I personally feel that it is a great overview and is still relevant today.
Matt Peters has a good blog post about the 2013 Search Engine Ranking Factors which you may also find useful.

On-page SEO
This is a question for the organic SEO experts, once you added the main keyword that you want to rank for in the homepage title, meta title plus meta description, perhaps once or twice in the text on the homepage. How often do you then write it in the content marketing, say blog posts, we want to rank higher on Google for "SEO agencies Cardiff" however if you mention this in the blog posts too much say once a week, this could lead to over optimisation issues?

Should we rename and update a page or create a new page entirely?
Hi Moz Peoples! We have a small site with a simple site navigation, with only a few links on the nav bar. We have been doing some work to create a new page, which will eventually replace one of the links on the nav bar. The question we are having is, is it better to rename the existing page and replace its content and then wait for the great indexer to do its thing, or perm delete the page and replace it with the new page and content? Or is this a case where it really makes no difference as long as the redirects are set up correctly?

How to rank well on 2 keywords - 2 separate pages or 1 combined page
Hi, I have a website about allergy. We ar developing new content, and through keyword research I have discovered that "dog allergy" and "cat allergy" are both very common searches. However, the cause, and symtoms are very alike for these 2 types of allergy so it would make sense to combine the two allergies on one page. So my question is: What do I choose to increase my chances to ranke the best I can for both "cat allergy", and "dog allergy"? Should I develop 2 separate pages for cat & dog allergy or should I do a combined page? (We would of course review the texts so no duplicate content/text would be used if we chose to have 2 pages) I would be so greatful for your advice!! Kind regards, Jeanette

Keyword Placement in Page Title - will changing it make a big difference?
Hiya guys I've noticed since changing my Title of my forum from: Talk Nightlife | Nightlife and Clubbing forum for the UK to Talk Nightlife | Nightlife Forum and Clubbing Guide for the UK (current) ... That its jumped from 22nd to 10th in google for term "nightlife forum" Am wondering, because of the on site optimisation tool telling me I should put the keyword to the front to something like eg: Nightlife Forum | Talk Nightlife Clubbing Guide for the UK Will changing the Keyword and putting it to front of the Title make a big difference? Your thoughts please guys Cheers Luke

Finished On Page optimization and slipping in rankings
Just finished on page optimization for a client that was on page 2 for the keyword. Went from an on page score of D to an A. But we are still slipping down the rankings. We were towards to top of page 2 now we are towards the bottom. Is there a time that it takes to change or does the on page not really make a big impact?
