Visual strategy

Currently working on a project for a talented photographer and retoucher from Europe who specializes in glamour, fashion, editorial. I'm a very analytical person and I want this website to have a highly visual impact and a good SEO implementation.
My question is:
Is it recommended to display the portfolio section on the frontpage or on a separate page. There is also the possibility to include some files on frontpage and have a separate Portfolio page with more projects. Which path are you recommending?
Thanks

That's true EGOL, I'm in the same situation with my personal website, been trying to optimize the architecture for months and at this time I'm still undecided , weekly I'm changing the order, resize the slides, adding content to the page, optimizing the keywords until I get some results. I work closely with theme developers and I make some technical suggestions after i test the template with different tools.

I always ask my visitors what works best.
I create multiple designs and run each of them, collecting data from services like google analytics and crazyegg. This allows you to observe visitor activity, sales and ad income, then use that data to inform the design process.
Some of my pages have been through 15 or more different formats. And, the income difference between what I started with and what I settled with has been as high as 10X.
If you have a lot of traffic you can toss a design up and know how its working within a few hours. If you don't get much traffic it might take a few weeks to get enough information to take action.
I have learned so much from doing this and my income is much higher.
I am surprised that lots of designers are not offering "optimization" services to improve the effectiveness of their clients' websites. So many of them think that "what I produce is golden". Or, maybe they are afraid to admit that their designs are based only upon their personal visual preference and that they don't have any idea of how effective they are going to be with visitors. I got started on this when a professional designer redid one of my sites and visitor actions and income fell through the floor.

Strategy for implementing different languages
We are looking to implement a Spanish version of our websites and are torn between either doing it in a es.cleasrstreamrfid.com sub-domain or by using a sub-folder in our current site of www.clearstreamrfid.com/es/. Just wondering which method would have a better impact on SEO and if the sitemap.xml files should be kept separate between the two language pages. We were planning on using the geo targeting in webmaster tools to direct users in a certain region to a specific language although after some research it appears you can only geo target a specific country and not a region or language so also not sure what approach to take there as well to target all countries/regions with the Spanish language. Should we even geo target or just serve english versions of our page with a selection to select a different language? Any guidance or suggestions would be much appreciated.

SEO strategy for UK / US websites
Hi, We currently have a UK-focused site on www.palmatin.com ; We're now targeting the North American market as well, but the contents of the site need to be different from UK. One option was to create another domain for the NA market but I assume it would be easier to rank with palmatin.com though. What would you suggest to do, if a company is targeting two different countries in the same language? thanks, jaan

Domain Consolidation & Proper Linking Strategy?
We have a client that operates 5 gyms in 5 different part of Miami, and each gym has its own website. All sites rank well and have a a good pagerank. For the purpose of their marketing and brand they would like 1 website developed which includes all of their gyms which we are launching later today. Each gym will have it's own landing page within the website Should we redirect the URL's of the different websites to the individual landing pages on the new site or how should that work to minimize any penalties on our SEO. For example (these are fake url's): www.gymA.com, www.gymB.com, www.gymC.com, www.gymD.com The new url: www.gym.com New landing pages:

www.gym.com/gymA, www.gym.com/gymB, www.gym.com/gymC, www.gym.com/gymD Should we do a redirect from: www.gymA.com to www.gym.com/gymA www.gymB.com to www.gym.com/gymB www.gymC.com to www.gym.com/gymC www.gymD.com to www.gym.com/gymD Thank you in advanced. If there is a better way to do this, or anything extra I need to know, that would be great. Thanks!0 -
Best strategy for multiple internal links
We have a website that has a whole heap of internal links. After re-structuring the footer links to the main categories we are now looking at the best way to display the internal links from each category (approx 20-50 links from each). At present they are simply listed on the corresponding category page, however this doesnt look great so we want to display them in a way that is user friendly and also seo friendly. Any suggestions and examples appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Mobile website strategy
Hello all! This question is about mobile websites. Any suggestions are welcomed. The facts: We have recently built a mobile website for our business using the separate mobile urls (parallel mobile website on a m. sub-domain). We are in the service industry and while our customers are most of the time on the go, it is important for them to find the price and order the service as fast and easy as possible. The redirect from desktop to mobile happens when customers are accessing the website with a mobile devices and it's done automatically. The mobile version does not have any content and serves only as a search and order function. The SEO has been made for the desktop website only and we are ranking really well for all competitive keywords in our niche. We want to keep the mobile website simple and clean so we are not planning to add any content on it.The questions: Since we are not planning to have much content on the mobile website, do we need to do any SEO for it? If yes, why? What are the benefits? Should we add content on the mobile website and why? Is there any down-side from an SEO perspective due to the fact that the website redirects to the mobile version? How are the inbound links going to behave in this case? Do we need to link these two websites although there is no risk about duplicate content? (links, canonical tags, sitemaps) Will the mobile website take advantage of the link building made for the desktop version? Should we allow the mobile website to be indexed having the fact that this is just a search & book tool? (at the moment it is blocked via robots.txt) Thanks for reading, looking forward to your answers.

How do you visualize website structure
How do you visualize a website structure in terms of (categories of) pages and interlinking. I use such visuals for discussing what you are actually doing now and what can be improved. I have made visuals I few times myself (basically making boxes representing categories of pages and lines representing internal links), but I found that I soon ran into a scheme of huge proportions and needed more paper and more time. Appreciate your thoughts!
