hey guys...
I am trying to figure out the best way of doing PPC. I dont want waste money doing it the less effective way.
So far I have been looking at Acquisio and wordstream.. I am not sure which would be best for me or if there is other options that would be even better.
I am in house in charge of 2 ecommerce websites.

we did marin and it absolutely destroyed our business. We are very dilligent with our ad spend and Marin could never catchup. Maybe we change bids more than most people but we were a lot more careful than marin was and seasonality was a big problem. Instead of paying marin 150 a year we decided to go with another ppc person and that seemed to be better.

Branden thanks for sharing your personal experience, I will give a try on Marin...

Thanks Dana, always good to hear from some one in similar position. I just start the trial I really like the interface too... I want to see how the "Bid Management tool" will behave.

We tried Marin and the results were good, but we needed integrated closed loop reporting for paid and organic search. We ultimately integrated our back end data with Adobe Site Catalyst and then used Adobe Search Center for paid search management. This allowed bid adjustment based on our back end closed loop data, and allows consolidated reporting for both paid and organic search.
Adobe Search Center isn't the best tool, but it's not bad and the full integration with Site Catalyst makes it worth it. Adobe bought Efficient Frontier last year and will be replacing Search Center with this new tool.

Marin is the best. Â I've used Acquisio and WordStream before, and my campaigns perform best when using Marin. Â Acquisio has better charts/reporting than Marin, but my campaigns perform best using Marin. Â Also use Mongoose if you want to track inbound phone calls back to the keyword searched for. Â Mongoose integrates into Marin seamlessly.
Marin Enterprise will cost 3-5% of your spend, which comes with a dedicated Marin rep who will help you with all of Marins features/tools. Â If money is an issue, you can use Marin Pro for 1% of spend, but you wont get a dedicated Marin rep. Â I started with Enterprise and then switched to Pro after I understood all of Marins tools.
Marins bidding algorithm is awesome. Â Marin allows for various keyword attribution, A/B split test for text ads & creative, different bidding based on cpl, cps, roi, margin % etc. Â You can also bid different for various conversion types...purchase, lead, facebook like, newsletter signup, phone call, etc. Â It also stream lines your work flow which allows me to manage 2X more campaigns.

Hi Cesar,
I am in-house in charge of 2 ecommerce sites as well. We just completed a free trial of Wordstream and I was very impressed. We are going to give it a try for 6 months. I found it very easy to jump in and start managing things without spending a lot of time finding my way around the interface. That's my two cents Cheers,
Dana

Correlating Form Submissions to PPC vs Organic - COA
I currently don't use a landing page model. From either Adwords or Organic you reach our site, find the event product that appeals to you, and then fill out the form. I need a way to determine which of those form submissions came from Organic Vs Paid so I can calculate my cost of customer acquisition (COA). Via Google Analytics I can see that X amount of Organic were submitted and X of Paid. If I get 5 submissions in one day there isn't an efficient way to correlate the form submissions to the medium. Any suggestions on an attribute method that would help me sort out COA?

How to find a good PPC firm
Hi guys, I'm completely new to PPC. I want to hire a firm to help drive PPC traffic to credit card landing pages. Our starting budget is limited ($2,000/month for everything) but can grow to about $5,000 if we see results. My questions are: Where can I find a list of good PPC firms that fits my vertical (credit cards) and budget? What are the key questions I should ask a PPC firm before I hire them? Is there a "Beginner's Guide to PPC" type of whitepaper, ebook, article, or course I can take to educate myself? Thanks in advance!

What to do against competitor PPC sabotage?
This morning a competitor of ours decided to go on a PPC rampage against us. Â Basically our budgeting money was spent within the first hour of going live on bing. Â Its pretty obvious whats going on as we had a tremendous amount of clicks all from the exact same keyword within a short period of time. Obviously first step was to contact bing and they are going to refund me a credit once they go through their process, but they didnt really give me confidence about the future. Â It seems they may not be able to prevent this from continually happening.. ? The attacker used some sort of IP spoofing as the clicks were all from different IP's which is probably why it snuck pasted Bing. Â Wondering what have you guys done in the past to prevent this or combat it? Thankfully it didnt happen on google

PPC question for the experts
I know this is paid search but since Moz had a section for it, I thought it would be ok to ask. 🙂 According to: http://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2497836?hl=en Broad match modifier +tennis +shoes Ads may show on searches for tennis shoes

buy tennis shoes
best shoes for tennis Ads won't show on searches for running shoes
tennis sneakers I'm using (for a client) +wedding +photographer.  It should show on wedding photographer hire a wedding photographer best wedding photographer in dallas It should not show on photographer in Dallas become a photographer dallas pictures But it is.  Why would this happen?  Isn't that exactly what it says it won't show up on? Also, Google writes: Don't leave space between the plus sign (+) prefix and the word you're modifying! •Correct: +leather +shoes
•Incorrect: + leather + shoes
•Incorrect: +leather+shoes Yet the client was told by Google the opposite.  "I spoke with Google and they confirmed that the space after the plus and before wedding (“+ wedding”) would notrequire “wedding” to show up." How on Earth does this reconcile or make ANY sense? ETA:  This is fairly clear to me: Be sure there are no spaces between the + and modified words, but do leave spaces between words. The right way to do it: +formal +shoes. The wrong way to do it: +formal+shoes. http://www.google.com/ads/innovations/bmm.html0 -
Starting Out With PPC, Need Some Advice
We are starting out with PPC for our site. I wanted to know what the best starting point is for our site. First, some basic info: We sell thousands of products from a large number of manufacturers We can offer the same prices as competitors, but we can't beat their prices Here are my questions: What would be my USP if my prices are the same, and we have the same store policies as competitors? Is it best to start with product pages (as opposed to keywords)? Meaning, setting up a feed via MC and connecting to our adwords account. Any advice is appreciated 🙂

Have you seen a correlation in between running a PPC campaing and increased SEO ranking for a new site (< 3 months old)?
I have read many conflicting articles on this topic. I understand that running a PPC campaign at a launch phase of a site can get a lot of insights such as exact traffic patterns etc. But the question is: is there a correlation or not with increased rankings position for new site as search engine are forced to crawled that given landing page to give your ad a score? Thanks in advance for your answers and opinion
