How do I differentiate traffic that is from google adwords vs organic searches?
-
Right now it appears to be showing both in the same category. I want to be able to see whats an organic click vs one from google adwords ads.
-
Glad you got it sorted out, @allb83! Let us know if you have additional Qs.
-
Actually I just linked them. They in fact were not linked.
Thank you for the link to the google page!
-
Thanks for the tips. My accounts are already linked and have been. I just don't know how to separate it out. I guess I need to login to google analytics to do that?
-
You're on the right track, allb83, It's critical to be able to segment your Adwords-generated traffic from the rest of your organic traffic in order to fully understand and adjust the value you're getting from your Adwords spend. To accomplish this, you need to have Adwords automatically tag your ads with tracking parameters, .
By far the easiest way to do this (and to get significant additional advantages) is to link your Adwords account to your Analytics account. This will create the needed tagging automatically, and also provide some additional analytics data back into your Adwords account.
Here's Google's own instructions for how to do this: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/1704341?hl=en
Once complete (and after waiting about 24 hrs for the new data to propagate) you'll be able to easily segment out your Paid Search data within Analytics. Do note through that this won't be retroactive - it'll only apply to new traffic you receive after the linking process is complete.
Not sure why the other responders are talking about Webmaster Tools as this has nothing to do with what you're trying to accomplish.
Hope that's what you are looking for?

One thing to also remember- Moz displays organic data and not the adwords data in our tools. Since adwords are owned by Google, those metrics will only display in google analytic webmaster tools.
-
Assuming you have google analytics installed you will want to integrate your webmaster tools to your analytics account. From there it is easy to see the difference. There is a Search Engine Optimization link in analytics that will give you the traffic data for organic searches. The same is true for PPC.

I need to explore keywords on a local level. Anyone out there who can help me with this? am I over my head with Moz Pro if I am a complete novice?

I signed up for a free trial yesterday. Today I wanted to analyze some Twitter accounts and got a message that I had reached my daily quota after only two searches! What's going on?
When I first discovered Followerwonk, I searched 15 accounts before reaching my daily quota. Now that I have signed up for a Pro account, how come I can only search two? How come there's any daily limit at all now?
