What is the best way to market/raise awareness about new clothing products?
-
We are an Outdoor Clothing Company that designs our own range. We primarily sell through Retailers & distribution networks, but around 2 years ago went online.
We update our collections twice a year, and we really struggle to get attention and awareness of our new designs.
Can anyone recommend the best practice for getting newly launched products successfully "marketed"?

Yeah, we need to ramp up our social media engagement.
We've had accidental success with a few small bloggers, But we find it very difficult to identify whether a blogger will influential or not.
Any tips or tools to help?

Besides having a clean site, that makes it easy to shop and order? Use social media and PR to it's fullest.
We optimized a sports clothing site before. Here are a few tips to get you started
On Google+, find sporting communities, and join groups that your product fits into. For example, for winter gloves, you could join a ski, or outdoor community, and post info and links there. For this to be successful, make sure you post high quality content, not something that appears "sales driven". Nobody likes a spammy self-promoting online salesman.
Twitter, follow people and brands related to what you sell. Use URL shorteners so you can create a more convincing tagline with your link (twitter only allows 140 characters, so make it good)
Facebook is a bit tricky, but using a small ad campaign works really well to get things moving quickly, especially when just starting out. We set up high quality posts, and promote them using a small daily budget for 2-3 weeks at a time. Even with $5 per day budgets, we see between 200-400 likes per month. This is not "buying likes" since the people liking the posts have an active interest in the product or post info. Once you have them like you page, their news feed will update with posts from you in the future.
PR releases and digital marketing.
PR release can help increase awareness and traffic, if you post info that is actually newsworthy. Release a new type of material or product that redifines a niche? Write a release about it. Here is a blurb from our seo blog about press releases:"Press Releases Without Actually Having Newsworthy Content
I know what you are thinking. "So if article submissions are out, I should do press releases instead." My answer would be, if you actually have something newsworthy, GO FOR IT! If you don't, then NO. A lot of businesses use press release sites simply to try and get links from news channels, and get their name out in front of the public by any means necessary. Here's the catch, you run a business, and kudos to your for doing so. According to Dun and Bradstreet there are 23 million and counting small businesses in the US as of 2010. This isn't saying that what you do or that the service you provide isn't newsworthy, I'm saying that merely existing alone doesn't qualify you. If you speak to any public relations agency, they will be quick to point out that there is much more to good PR than just a slew of press releases. Motion PR president Kimberly Eberl states that:
"Public relations is a conversation between a company and all of its different stakeholders. It encourages company transparency and works to the benefit of all parties. PR is about building awareness and leveraging relationships through various channels and markets."
If this sounds familiar, that's because it is. In essence, it's about link building. Creating press releases just for the sake of links alone is not a good practice, and can become expensive if done regularly. A good press release is one that can help other people. Remember, humans are social creatures, and when we find something that helps us, we share it. By having people share your information and providing something that is truly newsworthy and good, this can help your media relations be more effective, and believe me, the links will follow."
Hope this helps you get a good start!

Successful clothing lines aggressively use PR and digital marketing (social media, contests, press releases, utilizer bloggers and so on). The key is to create awareness and spark word of mouth. It's extremely difficult to do and often times cost $$$. Good luck!

In Google SERPs some companies / government agencies have a Google-generated card for their organization and it references their Wikipedia page. It does not show for all companies /orgs that have a Wikipedia page. What is the criteria to have it shown?
Does Google have specific criteria to show a large card in the top right of SERPs that links to a national organization's Wikipedia-referenced info? These do not appear to be the Google Business Card created by individual organizations. Example having the card and org is on wikipedia: https://www.google.com/?ion=1&espv=2#q=u.s. department of labor Example no card shown and org is on wikipedia: https://www.google.com/?ion=1&espv=2#q=Occupational+Information+network

What is your thoughts on the proper way for one brand to promote a sub-brand.
Greetings fellow Mozers! How Do Major Companies Promote Their New Sub-Brands I'm curious to see everyone's thoughts on how and what is the best process to promoting your companies new brand. I see companies like Wayfair.com promoting their sub-brand "All Modern" and "Wayfair supply" (maybe "sub-brand" isn't the best term) in the top left of the page as a link. I believe this is only a SEO play because they are only outbound links to the brand website. If you go to "All Modern" there are no links back to Wayfair. I then looked at a company like Gap.com and notice that all of their other brands are promoted on the website and are also interchangeably linked to one another. Does anyone have any thoughts on the best way to link and or promote your smaller brand that could potentially turn it into a Major Brand. Do you think this is just a SEO linking play. I'm curious to see everyone's thoughts

How to Host Microsites: Mission Critical or Six of One / Half Dozen of the Other?
Hello, fellow Mozzers! Been racking my brain. Thanks for your help on this one! I am in the process of putting together several microsites for our marketing agency. The sites feature similar theme and design elements, but are focused on delivering a customized industry-specific visitor experience with unique navigation, brand messaging, services, case studies, etc. I am struggling with whether I should host as entirely separate websites, as subdomains of the parent site, or as separate WP installs in subfolders of the main domain. I have been leaning toward the sub-folder option to share domain authority and keep our SEO efforts consolidated. But I am also concerned that the microsite "home pages" will underperform as sub-folder pages, versus being an actual home page of a unique domain or sub-domain. Is this a six-of-one or half-dozen of the other situation, or are there some important considerations I'm missing here? Thank you for your help here!

Ideas for highly specific digital marketing?
I have a client that wants to get highly specific with their digital marketing (SEO, Paid, and Social). In their business each sale is big enough that we've even been talked about creating specific targeting campaigns around one decision maker within a company. I can't share too much more information, so I'm hoping that makes sense. My question is this: What are some ideas for getting hyper focused with digital marketing? Most of my ideas for this utilize paid advertising but we've come up with a few social and organic ideas as well. I just wanted to open a discussion to see what my Moz friends thought on the topic. Thanks in advance.

Best Practices for Google+
I have a client that has a decent following on Google+ on his personal account but his business profile doesn't have many people going to it. The law firm he owns has roughly 14 attorneys and all of them write for their blog. Since they are all new to Google+ except for him, I'm wondering what everyone things that the best practice is to get the information shared. When we post the information on his personal personal profile, he generally gets between 50 - 75 +1s and a dozen or so shares. If we put it on the business profile we don't get more than 10. The issue is when one of the attorney's that is new to G+ posts on their timeline and then we share it via the business, we then have to share it via the owners timeline to get any traction. We need to build followers for each of the attorneys new to G+, that's obvious, but what do we do in the mean time? Since the owner is also the brand, what is your suggestion of the best strategy?

Social Media Marketing Synergy
Hi all, Just a quick question. When creating social media profiles, should there be synergy between them in imagery. For example a fashion brand that has a lot of different styles. Would you have 2 completely different looks on say Twitter and Facebook? Or would you try to find a theme and stick with it? I have looked at other fashion brands and there is a mixed bag. Some have synergy, some don't. Is this a matter of opinion or is their a best practice? I don't think there is a right answer but I'd love some opinions / articles on it if poss! Thanks

Anybody use Twibbon to promote a website/cause/event?
I stumbled across Twibbon today - it's a service that basically creates an easy way for you to brand your Twitter/Facebook pictures, and to allow others to promote your cause as well. I'm not sure if I'm late to get on board here or if this is a relatively new thing, but it seems pretty cool. I can definitely see this really working out for promoting philanthropic causes. It would also work really well for events - imagine if every speaker at an SEO conference used Twibbon to brand their Twitter/Facebook? I think it would really help with branding, for both individuals and businesses.

301 Redirect Old Established Site to New Business Model Site?
I have a client who has a website which is getting fairly descent traffic in the current industry its in. He is launching a new business model, same industry. New domain, new brand etc. Is it better to keep both entities separate and try growing them both? Or would it be more effective in terms of acquiring ranks and traffic to 301 redirect the old established site to the new site? Transferring all the value from the old and instantly boosting the new model. Not sure if this ads anything to the topic, the new domain is also an exact domain keyword match for a highly searched term.
