Would it be smart to have 2 different blogs on our site?
-
I run Wick Video - where we make animated videos for businesses. We are toying around with making blog/video content geared toward marketers, _and _creating blogs/tutorials geared toward designers and animators. Since it's two totally different groups, we've had the idea of making two separate blogs.
Is that a good idea? Any websites currently doing this well?
-
Ah. As outlined above by EGOL the separate subscription model should do well. Plus you'll be keeping inbound links within the blog as a whole so that should help with gains.
-
We don't plan on having a large volume of content (1-2 posts / week / category). But we do have very different audiences. As EGOL suggested, we might solve this by segmenting the blog into 2 categories.
-
Good to know people can subscribe to a specific category. I think that's what we'll do.
-
Our current blog has a lot of cross over. But we want to start doing more tutorials, specifically about animation, and what cool After Effects plugins we are using - not super interesting/relevant for the average marketer (unless I'm wrong).
On the flip-side, we want to use our animation skills, and partner with industry-experts, in various marketing fields, to create short (~1 min) videos with one overall golden nugget / piece of advice. (i.e. "5 Ways to Improve Your Landing Page")
-
I agree w. EGOL. While I've seen instances of more than one blog on a site, it tends to work well when you're tackling large volume of content spanning a broad and deep mix of topics aimed at different audiences. Looks like it might be over-kill in your situation.
-
People can subscribe to the RSS feed of a WordPress category.
Also, you can write a program in Perl or php or other language to scrape your feeds and republish them into server-side includes by blog category. Then these server-side includes can be displayed on any page of your website. (there are simpler ways to do this but that is how mine has been done)
-
Thumbs up. EGOL has solid advice on this. There's a lot of cross over between marketers and designers so a blog with both types of content (and talking about their intersections) wouldn't bother me in the least. Would be pretty cool in fact!

Lots of sites have multiple installs of wordpress in different folders.
In your application, you might not need to do that. Instead just categorize the posts and then promote the category pages. Will have the same effect. You can insert custom content on the category pages using functions.

Why do other sites rank higher for our blog content?
Our site has always allowed other sites to RSS feed our content. Recently, we've noticed that searches for a title of our blog post will rank 2 sites that only publish said content, while our links are nowhere to be seen on the SERPs for Google. Is there any way I can fix this or prod Google to adjust it for us? Background: We were ranked highly in many long tail keywords, but lost many of them in June 2013. During this time going forward, we received no manual action.

Difference in Forum and Blog for SEO
I was pushing my employer to agree to switch to add a blog onto our site and he asked me, what is the difference between the blog and a forum for SEO purposes. Besides the general look and feel and a forum being more community oriented, is a blog better than a forum for seo, and if so, why? It can be vice-versa I just need to fully understand this myself so I can begin to work on one and explain it to my employer. If anyone can provide any insight, it will be much appreciated.

Can I share share my content with other sites either as a individual post or RSS or will I be encourage duplicate content on the web and upset Google
Hi, I have a new site http://www.homeforbusiness.co.uk. I want to encourage traffic to the site by sharing some of my content with other related websites which have a higher PR ranking and traffic for a link to my site. Is this going to upset Google re-duplicate content and devalue my site and stop any organic rankings in the future? Equally some high PR sites which have a good synergy with mine such as http://thewomensbusinessclubs.com/ allow me to add my RSS feed with their blog network. Is this a good thing to do or not for the same reasons as above? Or can I only do the above my creating fresh content? Thanks, Elizabeth Conley

Best way to get my Blog traffic
I've recently began blogging on my site. The content is all unique and useful and written properly without keyword stuffing... My question is, how do i go about getting people to see the blog (getting traffic to it) so that it can get linked to. I've created content that i believe people will naturally link to, the only problem is they're not finding my blog. Any advice on how to get my blog out into the world?! thanks

Blog Posts Not Getting Indexed by SERP's
Our blog posts are typically indexed rather quickly, sometimes within 10 minutes or so. Lately it seems like it is taking much longer, and a post from yesterday afternoon isn't appearing in any of the search engines. Can anyone give me an idea why this may be happening? http://www.360dwellings.com/2011-denver-parade-of-homes-luxury-home-tour/

Blog content practices for e-commerce sites
What is the best practice in regards to content for e-commerce blogs on the same domain as the web-store (blog.storename.com)? What balance of content should be on the blog vs. the item & section pages or doesn't it matter?
