My local traffic has increased but USA traffic decreased..I dont know why!!
-
Hi Guys, A sticky one for ye. I have recently updated my site selling Jewelry in April of this year. Overall, Local Irish organic traffic has been stronger than ever in the first half of 2015. Yet in the USA, since March it's been at it's weakest for years, declining month-on-month. In terms of Organic Traffic for May & June, there's been a 30% increase in visitors from Ireland when compared to last year. Yet for the USA - the biggest market for us- there has been a 39% decrease this year over the same dates. It's the same for language demographics. Big decrease for en-US, but increases for en-IE and en-GB. It's not just the US. The site has taken a hit in Canada, Australia etc.So domestically the website looks to be performing better than ever before since the HTTPS switch, but it has taken a big hit internationally in our key market. We are targeting USA in search console, not changed any of the content in the site however he have added an SSL cert to make the whole site HTTPS like google said :)Any pointers are welcome

Let's remove all possible instances in which you might been seen as targeting Ireland. It sounds like the https caused a reclassification of the site.
Second question, did you add the https in Search Console? Do you have both there and both are geo-targeted to the US?
-
Nope, we can do that if it makes a difference but with the jump being so significant I'm not sure this is the only reason. Will do that in a few mins.
-
We had done that at the same time as the switch. It's hosted in the states
-
Sorry, one more. When did you add the address for the business at the bottom/footer? Any opposition to removing that and just keeping mailing/location information on a contact page?
-
Thanks! Clarification, you are geo-targeting this domain in search console to the US? When did you do that? Where is it hosted?
-
Sorry, shanore.com
-
As Mike said, we need to know the site. It sounds like your international targeting is off, but I won't be able to tell how until I can see the site.

Localization best practice
Hi Guys, I have a question about localization versions of my websites. Currently for other languages we use folders like /de/, /es/ and we have implemented hreflang. But it will be in any help if I add all those localization versions in Search Console as separate properties and specify there which language is it for? Can this help more that just leave it as it is? Thanks, Florin

How well does Google's "Locale-aware crawling by Googlebot" work?
Hello, In January of this year Google introduced "Locale-aware crawling by Googlebot." https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6144055?hl=e Google uses different crawl settings for sites that cannot have separate URLs for each locale. ......... This is basically for sites that dynamically render contend on the same URL depending on the locale and language (IP) of the visitor. If e.g. a visitor was coming from France, the targeted page would load in french. If a visitor was coming from the US the same page would load in English on the same URL. Does anyone have any experience with this setup and how well it works? How well do the different versions of a page get indexed, and how well do those pages rank? In the example above, does the french content get indexed correctly? Many thanks!

3 month old site lost almost complete traffic overnight
Hi All, I started a Indian coupon and deal site http://www.couponspy.in/ around 3 month ago and traffic increased almost daily. But yesterday my site lost almost all of its traffic. Keywords which ranked 1-5 lost around 4-15 places and keywords which ranked 6-20 lost ca. 20-50 places. The Moz Crawl Diagnostics doesn't indicate any mayor issues. Has there been a Google Panda update in India? Reasons why my site has been affected? Please help!!!! 😉 I have seen the same traffic decrease on other coupon start ups, eg https://www.cuponation.in/ and https://www.cuponation.in/ Did we all make the same mistake? Any guesses?

Ranking local content against English content
Hi SEOMoz, If I have a site that has multiple language selection, how would it be possible for my site with localized content to rank higher than the default/English content? For example, in Google.co.th, my site with English content (http://www.xyz.com/en-us/) ranks higher than the localized content (http://www.xyz.com/th-th/). How is it possible for me to turn things around and ensure that for local markets like Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, China etc the localized content organically ranks higher than the default-English page? Thanks! Steve
