Differences in site search revenue in GA
-
I just put in a piece of software to replace a really bad built in site search engine on my 3dcart website. Now I am trying to measure the change, but I am having some issues. When I check the ecom data in the conversions section of GA with the built in segment Performed Site Search, I get promising results. Approximately 5% revenue increase over LY. But if we jump to behavior, site search, usage, and then check the visits with site search, I get a decrease by 4%. And the actual revenue is off, by like double (150k compared to 80k)
Anyone have any idea why I am getting these results? The site search function is set up. Tracking is enabled, query parameter is keyword and search url is /search.asp?keyword=

Hey Alex,
This is an interesting question, and one that I think we'll likely need to go back and forth on a few times before coming to an explicit solution to your problem. That said, here we go.
Performed Site Search Segment vs Content Level Tracking
An important differentiation here is that the Performed Site Search (PSS) Segment is defined as a user level tracking function, while the content level search is at the session level. This means that instead of looking at just the session level, all sessions of a single user are rolled up into a larger group & then the PSS segment is looking for & extracting the user level data for all users that have has a site search and displaying that data.
An example of this is: a user could perform a site search, leave the site, come back later & not do a site search & complete a purchase. In the PSS segment data, the purchase would be counted, whereas in the content level report, this revenue would not be attributed to a session with a site search.
This could be the reason that you're seeing different results on the two different reports.Let me know if this solves your issue, if not we can try another solution.

Google My Business app search report
What is the deal with the search reports in the Google My Business app? I downloaded this app so prospective customers could message my business, and when I look at the search reports on the app, the results seem nonsensical. According to google analytics my business receives pretty steady traffic every day. Why does the report say that I receive zero visitors one day and 400 the next? (See the screenshot below) 4yLRCHG

Need advice on setting up primary domain and shopify site analytics to work best together
Hello, I have a client that I have been working on their primary site for the last year or so. In the last month they decided to have one of their internal employees setup a small shopify store. Now they are asking for the analytics tracking codes for it. My question for you is what would be the best way for me to set that up? variables: primary domain and shopify domain, google and bing analytics Have been looking at how cross domain tracking works (https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/6106951), and the instructions for setting up ecommerce in analytics for shopify (https://help.shopify.com/manual/reports-and-analytics/google-analytics/google-analytics-setup). But am still not 100% which route would be the best, any input would be greatly appreciated! thank you, Dustin

Search console Search Analytics devices not showing mobile and tablet data since July 29th, have anyone noticed that too?
If you filter for devices in the search analytics at search console you get that from July 29th all the data is tagged as desktop and mobile and tablet have no data from that date. I see that for all my websites I have search console for, any input on that?

Misconfigured event tracker on a site
I'm on the case to diagnose an unnaturally low bounce rate, as in under 2%. Yes, the site has two Universal analytics tags, but Google says that would not compromise data (https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1032400?hl=en). So I am trying to figure out how to look at event tracking to see if there is a configuration error. But, I am not a developer so am unsure how to review and would welcome the help of the Moz community. The site is http://corsa.com if you wish to take a peek. Thanks!

Linking Multiple Niche Site In Same Google Analytics Account
Hi, I am providing SEO for Local business. Is it advisable to separate out the Google Analytics into different Google account or is it ok to remain it this way? Some of the client might be in the same niche, and might be competing with the same keywords as well. What I was worried is, Google might see these sites as same owner and only rank for 1 of the site. I was thinking to get the owners to register for their own Google Analytics and share the access to me.

WMT and 'Links To Your Site'
Anyone else find that there are, almost continually, links added to the 'Links To Your Site' list from years ago that weren't previously reflected? I'm seeing links that were added to directories in 2008 (by whoever was doing the SEO then) only showing in the last week or so when these links weren't in the list a few months ago. I don't suppose there's much I can do - it's just annoying in that it adds to more people to contact to have nonsense removed.

Keyword referrals in GA
Hi chaps, Quick question for you. I'm drilling down in GA to one of our eCommerce pages which has a pretty high bounce rate. I'm looking at referring keywords and they don't seem to make much sense. The page I'm looking at is a pretty deep page but the top referring keywords are all branded terms. The page isn't included in our site links. To explain a little further, this is the scenario I think is happening: User searches using "Brand term". They then click through to our homepage and eventually land on the deep shopping page (on a different subdomain) In GA Content > Site Content > Pages > Primary dimension set to keyword - "Brand term" shows as the referring keyword. Does this sound right? We have a custom GA script set up to track multiple subdomains.

No Link Data Available for this URL appears often. Are my sites too small to show up?
I am on the trial until Mar 5, 2012. I seldom get the info I want. Is it because my sites are too narrow a niche? I don't seem to be getting the data I'd like from your service. I'm trying to like it, but when I keep getting messages like this, it makes it hard to justify: "No Link Data Available for this URL appears often" Sample sites that I am unable to get data. I especially would like to know how many backlinks exist for each site. I paid someone to help me with them and I'd like to verify their work.: http://costaricadentistreview.com/ http://costaricadentistreviews.com/ http://costaricadentalimplants.org Any suggestions? Thanx Kurt Gross
