Page links, header links, footer links

HI I have been hearing about links, you should keep to 100
Just look at this url http://www.powerwale.com/store/acdelco-sealed-vrla-iacdv5l--b-5ah-bike-battery/77031
and go for Recommend section, where you same product applies to different vehicles
1. im confused, should keep it or not?
2. Header links are less, Footer links are less, and in the future, we are planning to add more, will this affect SEO more than 100
i see many ecommerce sites, has menu showing many categories, more 100 categories links
3. Wht about link equity? If I have more links in header and footer page(all this will follow in the rest of pages).
4. More links in the header and footer shows that you are big ecommerce site..Pls suggest, which is right way and go gain SEO value

If you have more than one link to the same page on a given page, it won't be considered duplicate content necessarily - but it also won't pass any additional page equity.

little, side topic,
As my header is thin, i have some pages good PA, can I use same fews links again in the detailed of page, for high PA pages...
will not consider duplicate links, as header has same links, will the equlity value will be more???

Hi,
1. In general, the closer to the top of the page a link is, the more link equity it's going to pass. Links in the header are at the top and appear on every page, so they tend to pass a lot of value. That said, the more links you have in your header, the more that link equity should be diluted, so really think about how your users are going to use your header for navigation and which pages should be in there. Links in the footer tend to pass little to no value and should be used for navigational purposes.
2. I would not recommend adding links dynamically to your header or footer at a page level. Links to related pages should go in the main content section of each page.

Thanks,
1. Wht is value of header and footer links in terms of juice or passing value, which is more value header or footer? because I see the same header and footer is being followed?
2. Will it be effective, If I add url dynamically url related to header or footer for the detailed page, relevant useful links, rather in the content page
Appreciate your answer on this..

Hi!
The guideline about trying to keep your links per page under about 100 (and it really is a guideline more than a rule) says that once you have more than about 100 links on a page, the likelihood of those links passing any internal link equity is pretty low. I also like to keep headers as small as I can to reduce page load time and make them easier to use. It looks like your header and footer are pretty small right now. The reason many ecommerce websites have lots of links in their headers is that they need them in order to help users find what they need on the site - this is a more important consideration than how many links you have per page for SEO purposes.
A good rule for headers - your most important pages should be included in your header. This includes your major product categories and sub-categories, but shouldn't include every single product. You want your users to be able to use the header to navigate deep into the site without the header being confusing for them to use. For example, it might be useful for you to expand the drop-down under "All batteries" to include your top categories, so Google gets a bigger signal "these pages are important" and users can easily find the type of battery they're looking for.
As far as your "Recommend For" section, I can see why you would want to have it for your users so they can easily tell whether or not the product will work with the machine they have. I would recommend re-formatting the list so that it's easier to read - right now it's just a big block of links. You may want to try breaking the list up into the same categories that you break up batteries into. That way, you could link back to the category page with the category name and then have a bulleted list of products below it that aren't links. That would reduce the total number of links on the page and make the whole list easier for your customers to ues.

Are backlinks in the form of Footer or Sitewide links safe?
Hi There! Some of our competitors are using sitewide links in the header, footer or sidebar…is it ok to use these type of backlinks to increase overall backlinks. The site-wide links increase backlinks dramatically. Thanks Malik Zakaria

Spam links in spam analyses tool: Referral page doesn't exist anymore
Hi, I have the following problem: The spam analyses tool in MOZ gives me a few links with a spam score of 10 and 9. I want to remove those links and try to contact the webmaster before disavowing the links. I read about being careful with too much disavowing. Unfortunately removing the links isn't possible because three different reasons: The page/subdomain of one referring website that should have a link to my website doesn't exist anmymore (compliance.ikkiesvoorverandering.nl/). The website http://ikkiesvoorverandering.nl does exist, but is almost empty and there is no possibility to contact the webmaster. What do you guys recommend to do in this situation? Any experience with this problem? On another website (with again no contact option) there is a link who directs to a former website, which has a redirect to my current website. I have no Google search console on that old website anymore. Does that make it impossible to disavow the link? What are other option to remove this link? The website that comes up in the spam analyses tool is pretty much empty (http://veensma.jouwbegin.nl/). How can I delete a link from an empty website? Any thoughts? I hope someone can help me with this, Would be glad to here from you 🙂 Lars

Root or Inner page for Links?
Hi everyone, I am starting my link building campaign after parting with many an SEO company. I have been able to establish some links which I have used my targeted keywords as anchor text. I have also linked these to the relevant product pages on my site. I am now however, wondering if I should have link them just to my main domain name? My site only has a rank of 21 so I just wondered if I should at the start be building keyword links to the main domain? I am also building branded links to the main domain as well as doing keyword linking too. Thanks Michelle

Is it ok for a web design company to have a branded footer link on their client's sites?
Now I know that in general footer links to your site from another site are bad...this is because they are very often spammy...however I like to think that Google is pretty smart and I am of the opinion that a web design company should be able to link back to their own site. Here's why: If a visitor comes across a site that they love the design of, and they want a new website built...why shouldn't they be able to click through to the web designers site? (as long as the client is happy to link to it of course) I also feel that if there are a whole bunch of high authority/pagerank websites have been designed by a web design company and they therefore have a footer link pointing to them, it's probably a pretty good sign that they're a good web designer. Is it not? In saying this I think that the link anchor text should be branded rather than keywords. For example I usually write "Web Design by Static Shift" I'm interested to hear people's thoughts. Am I being blinded by my bias? Thoughts aside, and onto the facts...what are people's experiences with footer links for a web design company. Do they help or hinder?

Is a no-follow link/sponsored link a good editorial link?
Ok maybe this is a dumb question. I really need some better, more quality backlinks pointing to my site. There is a site that has domain authority of 72, page rank 5 that is offering me a sponsored blog post. Do sponsored posts count as a good editorial link? Also what if they are no-follow (and how would I find out ahead of time), does that still give me link juice?

Back Links
Hi there, I have been guest posting on blogs trying to build some back-links into my website, which so far is going not too bad, however I was wondering when writing these guest posts should I limit my post to let's say 2 back-links per guest post? If 2 back-links are going to different pages on my website, does the first back-links in the guest post have more value than the 2nd back-link? Kind Regards,

301 to main page or deeper page for best 'link juice'.
I have two rafting websites. One ranks high for one set of keywords. The other ranks okay for a different set. I want to redirect the whole second site to the first to give the first more link juice and hopefully lift the first site even more in the rankings. Would it be better to link to a deeper page of the 1st site. I have a page that does well for some long tail keywords or would it be better to link to the main page. Or is it a bad idea over all.
