Video and SERP
-
Hi, 3 weeks ago I uploaded a video to my page using wistia. Does anyone know how long google needs to get the video _snippet _in SERP?
Thanks!!!

For a strong site (SEOmoz sort of size) you're looking at a week or two.
For weaker sites, it could be a anything up to a few months.

Then I think it's just a matter of waiting, Petros. There's actually no guarantee of even getting a rich snippet, but you've done the things that make it more likely.
The other thing I'd try to do is get a few good quality links to the new video page, and some social media mentions if possible. Building up some authority for the page will also help make it more likely that a rich snippet will be assigned.
Lastly, is there some good quality text on the page along with the video? Content will help the Search Engines understand better what the page is about, which can also help the video's ranking.

Yes i have done all the above!

Did you activate the Video SEO settings within Wistia to generate a video sitemap, Petros? (Once the video sitemap has been created by Wistia you also need to ensure it's been added to the Robots.txt file on your own site.)
It's pretty unusual for a video to earn a video snippet without a video sitemap in place, especially for a relatively low-authority site.

Are reusing videos considered duplicate content?
If we have a "why hire us" video, and we place it on multiple landing pages will that be considered duplicate content? All the texts and images are different, it would just be the video. Thanks, Ruben

Question For Those Who Record Their Own Videos
Hi, This is a quick question for those of you that record your own videos. Currently we record videos using a pretty middle of the road sony HD camcorder. We have some good lighting equipment and mic's etc but I always think that it could be a lot better. I would love to know what kind of recording equipment other use. Someone had said to me to use a DSLR camera with lapel mic which is great and obviously the camera can be used for still photos as well. I am just interested to know if others use that configuration or if people just use your average HD camcorder with good mics etc. Thanks

Is it considered duplicate contentnt to post a video to youtube then embed that video on our website's FAQs page?
Essentially, I am answering popular questions we are asked and answering them in a video. Once I post it on youtube, I take the video, add it to our FAQ page, and when someone clicks on the question, a new page opens with the question, the video, and the written answer to the question underneath it. Thanks for any advice. watch?v=bwGRmvnCn7w

Video hosting - SEO
Hi, We host all of our videos on You Tube and use embedded links to display on our site. When people search keywords related to our videos they are linking back to You Tube through SERPs. Is there a way link SERPs to websites instead of You Tube? Any advice would be appreciated. Sean

Video SEO: Videos in Multiple Sources
Frist time question, so excited! 🙂 We are hosting videos on Wistia for a new series we're calling Tatango University - Very similar to Whiteboard Fridays as you can tell - thanks Rand for the idea. My question, should we also be uploading the videos to YouTube or will this somehow we looked at as duplicate content or video spamming? Also, if we host them on YouTube will they always come up before our videos on our own site, therefore driving all the traffic to YouTube? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Getting indexed into Google video search
I have a website that has videos hosted from youtube.com embedded onto it. I created and uploaded the videos to youtube and want them on my website. My question is which would be a better option, hosting the video on my website or embed them from youtube? I currently have them embedded onto youtube but when I do a Google video search I cannot find my company's website anywhere. My videos are shown on the results but they are linked to youtube and not my website. Is there a way to get the search results to show listing of the videos posted on my website?

Placing video testimonials on website vs. YouTube
We have produced a number of video guest testimonials. Any SEO considerations or other hosting it on our website (what software to use?) vs. YouTube (and just embedding it on the webpage)? Are there certain situation or circumstances when YouTube is not the best choice for placing video on a website? Thanks.
