Google Analytics Not Properly Attributing Goals
-
My GA has been working fine for years and is now suddenly attributing 100% of my goals/conversions to a "referral" source. In this case "crm.zoho.com". (see attached url)
Our contact form is a zoho CRM form. When prospect fills it out online, it dumps them to a thank-you page and the conversion is counted.
That all works just fine, but it is not attributing the conversion to Organic or PPC or Direct as it was a month or so ago.
I'm not sure if this may be the cause, but I was cleaning up GA about a month ago, deleting some filters I didn't think I needed any more.
Thank you for your help.

Thanks for the update! Glad that solved it.

Paul,
I added crm.zoho.com to my exclusion list and now things are being properly attributed again. Thank you so much.

Thanks guys. I'm very sorry for the slow response. It's been insane time as I was preparing for CES - and now it's finally over. I'll see if I can get this fixed today and report back.

Agree with Martijn - you almost certainly had crm.zoho.com in your "Referrals Exclusion List" in the past and have since removed it. I'm bettign that when the visitor clicks to fill the form, they are leaving your site ofr a page on zoho that contains the form, then being returned to your site after completion.
Because the Zoho page doesn't contain your Analytics tracking code, GA sees the session ending with the click to the form, then a new session starting with a new source when the visitor is "referred" back from the zoho page to the main site.
Does that make sense?

Hey!
So the filters might already be a big red flag for me. Can you look back in the change history to see what they're doing. Usually filters can have a very big impact on how things are being reported eventually. In the last month I haven't heard more rumors about them changing the way they deal with traffic sources & channel reporting so this would be my first bet to look into. Has anything regarding referral exclusion been changed as well lately?
Martijn.

Tracking Google places (7 pack listing) traffic in google analytics
Is there a way to see Google Places traffic (traffic from users clicking through the 7 pack listings) segmented in Google analytics ? Normally is it just lumped together with the organic traffic ? Can you see the search phrases used to find your site, or do they also show up under 'not provided' when from Google Places. Im aware i can see some limited data in the Google Places analytics, but these seem to be 2 days behind when ever i view them.

Setting up Google Analytics for Subsites
I currently have one main .com site and am planning on launching geo-location subsites .co.uk, .com.au, .ru, etc... Traffic will flow between both sites and some of the content on the subsites will be duplicate and therefore include a canonical tag to the main site. I want to set up GA to capture who is going to the subsites and vice versa and correctly capture crossover traffic. Any advice on implementing advanced analytics directly (or links to sources that will direct me the right direction for this project)

Google Analytics data - Canonical problems?
Hi everyone, We're trying to determine why Google Analytics is showing multiple versions of the same page as having "landing page traffic". For instance, these 2 pages are both shown as landing pages in GA: www.oursite.com/product_page
Reporting & Analytics | | darkgreenguy
www.oursite.com/product_page/ This occurs many times in Google analytics. Also, there are instances such as these: www.oursite.com/index.php/custom_product_url www.oursite.com/custom_product_url I can't find anything in Google Webmaster tools that would indicate a problem. However, this GA data is making me think there are duplicate content issues on the site... Thanks in advance for any help...0 -
Does Google Analytics use your data against you?
I couldn't find this question answered anywhere in Q&A, so I apologize if it's a duplicate of another post. I heard, about a year ago on either Web Pro World, or Warrior Forum that Google uses your visitor data in your Google Analytic account to rank your site. Someone said that when they took out the Google code, their site went from the third to the first page within 48 hours. That was then verified over the next couple of weeks by others. Their thought was that regardless of the optimized page and incoming link, if the site wasn't getting visitors, then it would be penalized. Since Google has the data, they would be able to use it. I then started using another, paid, solution - getclicky.com. While I like clicky, there is some info Google has that clicky doesn't, everyone integrates with Google analytics - like SEOmoz, and I'm paying a monthly fee. Now that I'm a part of a community of experts, what do you think? Have you noticed Google ranking you based on your analytics data? Has anyone experienced this, or heard about it before? Because I'd like to go back to using Google analytics. Thanks!
