Building a Backlink Profile for a Brand New Domain

Hi there,
Any advice on how best to build a backlink profile for a new website - I'm very keen to avoid penalisations or throttling from Google.
Any advice on DA ratios to procure & frequency of procurement would be welcome.

PBNs.. really that's your best advice? Please don't.

Social... use your brand name, make sure it gets in the URL and then when possible link 6-10 of those links inside each social account.
If you're local add your citation (NAP) inside the description
Then do your local citations, then you can work with PBNs and Guest Posts later on.

It's not uncommon to take more aggressive and less "natural" link building tactics for a site that is relying on self-funding or needs early growth. I've seen sites start out with unnatural links then safely transition to a "natural" link profile with high value links from key publications later to develop stability. This approach can work to drive short-term success with avoiding the potential long-term issues.

Don't worry too much about DA of the site's you're getting links from. A natural link profile is a mixture of volume and quality. A natural link profile for a new site should include directories, forum links, guest posts, social links. Although these types of links are not important for an established site, it's important for a new site. But online PR on hyper contextual content is the most important factor, even if the site has a low DA but it highly contextual, you should go after those links. Focus on contextual online PR.

First of all, I want to second the response from EGOL, don't do anything that you will regret later as at some point it'll likely hurt you more than it'll help you.
As a first tactic, I would start finding places that have unlinked mentions of your company that you can ask to be updated, or reach out to vendors, customers etc. to see if they're willing to refer back to your site via case studies etc. In a lot of cases, this will help you build the first couple dozen links and can help drive promotional efforts going forward.

This suggests that you are going after manipulative links.
The best way to gain links is to "earning" them with high quality content rather than building them.

Link building - where to start?
Okay - we have around 200 natural links pointing to our domain, some good, some not so good; today I've spent some time removing any bad, spammy links pointing to our business domain and we're just about there. Now I'd like to start a link building strategy. To be fair, I've assumed for the past year or so that link building is dead, unless you can get natural, really good links - which in the mobility and elderly products industry can be quite difficult. I have recently created a blog on our website - could RSS feeds be a benefit too?

Backlink Disavow strategy

Backlink question
Hi all. Here's the scenario. There is a company who provide financial services to their online clients. On ALL their clients sites they have a "payments-by-us" style logo with backlink to their homepage domain name. This means they have over 3,000 links from a multitude of non-related websites - with just 3 or 4 anchor text keywords in these backlinks. No surprise they have been hit by Penguin My questions What it the best practice for these type of linking LOGO's. Should they link to a dedicated page,and NOT the homepage? Should they have branded + anchor text, no text, or just branded? or a combination of each Should they even be a link at all as they are coming from such a diverse group of sites? I understand how Penguin penalises for overuse of money word keywords as anchor text. This is something that has definitely happened here (by the bucket load) ... Assume the anchor text is "Green Chips Finance" and that phrase is also overused and a bit "stuffy" in their homepage. Here's my question - could simply lowering the prominence / significance of "Green Chips Finance" on the actual home page, help in reducing the impact of the damage caused by the thousands of backlinks with "Green Chips Finance" as the anchor text? I say this as they have a similar number of back links saying "Red Chips Finance", but there is no mention of "Red Chips Finance" on their homepage other than in the keywords and a couple of standard text mentions (no H1, H2, alt text etc) ... interestingly, "Red Chips Finance" (not the real words) is Google No1 whereas "Green Chips Finance" has been demoted from longtime No1 to about 4. New world order
Hello all I see many talk about it but still I feel that the conversation is full of alogans and cliches are flying around, so here goes. In the not too far distant past I could get sites climbing and getting more traffic just by gettinhg simple links from sites. do that on a monthly basis, and see results. Now it is better for end users and tougher for us SEO guys. we need quality content and strategic postings. I like the new way and the higher quality it brings. As many of you probably expieienced getting clients actively engaged is really hard and most times clients are too busy. We need the involvement to succeed, we need quality content and valid places to post (mostly blogs). My questions are most budgets are not adjusted by clients and as such it creates a problem getting qualuty content. How do you still stay profitable? How did you adjust? Do you feel that much more actuale work on clients' project is needed and as such profits are declining. How di you reacts? what are the adjustment you made Thanks Guy C

New website, small business, niche market --- what's my best link building strategy?
Hi everyone, We are a small company manufacturing a niche product (indoor playground equipment), our new English website (www.funlandiaplaygrounds.com) has just been launched 2 months ago, before that we didn't even have a website in English. As the international sales manager of such a small company, I have to do all the international marketing jobs including SEO, but before this I'm almost a noob on SEO. According to the latest SEO theory and numerous posts I've read here, links from these directories carry very low value, and solely relying on these links may even cause penalty to the website, but the reality is, all these competitors rank on the top as a result of these "spammy" links. For example this website www.aileplay.com that has the highest PA of 64 and rank on the first page on the search result of indoor playground equipment, has tons of spammy links. That is the situation we are facing now, then my questions is: As a small business in such a niche market, what is our best strategy to rank well in a reasonable time, say 3 months to 6 months? I do not think our competitors are very strong and hard to beat, I believe we will beat them in content creation for sure, but what should we do in link building? should we start to get directory links now, as it obviously works for them? Or should we first create more attractive content, then use these content to get natural links BEFORE we submit for directory, as recommended by most link experts here? Effectiveness of Forum Backlinks: specifically Paul's Backlinks
I know the general consensus is that these kinds of backlinks are of low value, however I'm curious as to anyones present day experience with them and if they are providing any value. More specifically, I am curious if they can do harm. I don't see how they could, as it would be a very easy tactic for an unscrupulous competitor to sabotage another by implementing them for their competitors. I can see possibly losing rank if they were discounted, however if this is the case, then it would only be rank that would not have been gained in the first place, minus those kinds of links. I ask because I have competing websites who have started to outrank me (they have been climbing and improving through each Google algorithm change in the past year), despite the fact that my mosrank and authority are better than every single one of them. But they have a sheer growing volume of backlinks that I can't match (seemingly low value when I look at their link profiles). Plus my domain is older (9 years as opposed to 3-4 years), and my site is clearly better (in terms of aesthetics, usability, content, etc), as well as my link profile being selectively cultivated from truly relevant sites. None the less, they are starting to kill me at this point -and I don't have the luxury of time. So....I was wondering about the wisdom of upping my volume of forum type links, as this is the only area of measurement where I can see my competitors are beating me. I am a believer in true, difficult, quality inbound marketing - however it is not getting the job done. Any thoughts on this?
