302 redirections warnings
-
Hi there, the SEOMOZ crawler has detected some warinings related to the 302 temporary redirections. Example:
http://www.tarifakitesurfcamp.com/tks-camp/alojamiento/ redirects to
www.tarifakeitesurfcamp.com/error-404
I have made some 301 redirections, located at the end of the final (inicially) and later I just moved them to the top of the file.
The htaccess file content is:
redirect 301 http://www.tarifakitesurfcamp.com/tks-camp/escuela/ http://www.tarifakitesurfcamp.com/gisela-pulido-escuela/
redirect 301 http://www.tarifakitesurfcamp.com/tks-camp/cursos-kite/ http://www.tarifakitesurfcamp.com/gisela-pulido/

What's wrong?
What could happen is I maintain these 302 redirections?
Thanks!

Those 301 redirects should look like this:
redirect 301 /tks-camp/escuela/ http://www.tarifakitesurfcamp.com/gisela-pulido-escuela/
redirect 301 /tks-camp/cursos-kite/ http://www.tarifakitesurfcamp.com/gisela-pulido/
redirect 301 /tks-camp/curso-idiomas/ http://www.tarifakitesurfcamp.com/campamento-bilingue-para-ninos/
redirect 301 /tks-camp/programa-de-actividades/ http://www.tarifakitesurfcamp.com/kitesurf-para-ninos/
redirect 301 /tks-camp/alojamiento/ http://www.tarifakitesurfcamp.com/campamento-de-kitesurf/
redirect 301 /tks-camp/la-empresa-2/ http://www.tarifakitesurfcamp.com/kitesurf-para-ninos-tarifa/So, what is being redirected doesn't need http://www.tarifakitesurfcamp.com
Paste what's italicized in your .htaccess and test again.

Moving from Bigcommerce to Woocommerce on WP. Should we redirect size pages into one page?
We are moving from Bigcommerce to Woocommerce on WP. On Bigcommerce, due to some bizarre reasoning the previous developer had 3 separate URLS for the same product in different sizes - S, M and L. Now we plan to have one product page where the sizes can be selected and 301 redirect the 3 urls to the new one. Is this advisable? Or should we just have 3 separate pages. OR should we have one of the sizes pages as the new page and then redirect the other 2 to this one? I ask this because the site has a LOT of ranking power and we do not want to jeopardise that.

Worth redirecting old blog posts into pages?
I'm working on a site that has some blog posts from 2011 - 2013 ranking on the first page for relevant terms. I'm going through and updating some of the content, internal links, etc., and wanted to know if it's worth redirecting some of these blog posts into new pages (in WordPress). Right now, the blog post URLs are long - exampleURL.com/2011/3/9/blog-post-title/ and the dates show up in the SERPs. I'd like to have the date removed so that the content doesn't look outdated, and I'd also like to have cleaner URLs. In your opinion, is it worth creating new pages and redirecting the old blog posts, or is the benefit of doing this not worth the effort? Thanks!

Duplicate Content aka 301 redirect from .com to .com/index.html
Moz reports are telling me that I have duplicate content on the home page because .com and .com/index.html are being seen as two pages. I have implemented 301 redirect using various codes I found online, but nothing seems to work. Currently I'm using this code. RewriteEngine On

RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^jacksonvilleacservice.com
RewriteRule ^index.html$ http://www.jacksonvilleacservice.com/ [L,R=301] Nothing is changing. What am I doing wrong? I have given it several weeks but report stays the same. Also according to webmasters tools they can't see this as duplicate content. What am I doing wrong?0 -
Redirecting to homepage ok?
I deleted a bunch of category pages (renamed mostly actually and thought they'd be auto redirected like my blog posts are but they weren't) so I used a plugin that reroutes any 404 page to the homepage. Is that the best thing to do in this situation? Google Webmasters says there are about 84 404-errors and this should get rid of those right? Is there anything SEO BAD about doing it this way?

How Much Does a Missing www. 301 redirect hurt a business?
We're preparing a report for a potential client, and are trying to figure out a way to estimate rankings gains. One of the major issues is a lack of a 301 redirect for non-www. domains to www. domains. We checked and there's no canonicalization, so it's a clear issue. According to Google, the non-www. links from 8 different domains. The www. version of the website has links from 248 different domains. Nearly all anchor text is branded, as they've never had any SEO work done before. Does anyone have a suggestion for approximating benefits of setting up their .htaccess file correctly? Would the benefits even be that great? We're of course advising additional things, but we just want to be more certain about this step's SEO-boost.

Boatload of 301 Redirects Question
We have a client that came to us and they recently did a site makeover. Previously they had all their pages in root directory including 75+ spammy article pages. On their makeover, they moved all the article pages into a directory and added 301 redirects. In going over their site we noticed they have redundant articles, like an article on blue-marble-article.htm and blue-marbles-article.htm Playing on singular and plural with dulpicate content for most part with exception to making it plural. If they have 75 articles, Id say 1/3 are actually somewhat original content. I would like to 301 redirect 2/3's of the articles to better re-written article pages but that would add a whole lot more 301 redirects. We would then have a 301 redirect from root directory to article directory, then another 301 redirect from spam article to new re-written article. My question is, would this be too many redirects for googlebot to sort through and would it be too confusing or send bad signals? Or should I create a new directory with all good articles and just redirect the entire old articles directory to the new one? Or just delete the redirects and old spammy directory and let those fall on a 404 error page. Id hate to lose 50-75 pages but I think its in fact those spammy pages that could be why the site fell from top of first page google to third page and now 10th page in a years time. I know, Im confused just typing this out. Hope it makes sense for some good feedback and advise. Thanks.

Too many On-Page Links warning + Javascript Menu
We do have javascript menus on each page. These are used by a visitor to contact a specific office in a specif city. Could this be where all these links are being counted? I don't see them elsewhere? What about links that are in the footer? They actually link to the same pages as the menus, but are just straight links.
