Whiteboard Animation Suggestions
-
Hi everyone,
Does anyone have any suggestions on whiteboard animation? I really like the way this tool is used to explain topics, and we'd like to start using it. However, if we do it, we'd want to do it continuously kind of how Moz does it, but based on whatever legal questions our audience wants explained.
Does anyone have any software suggestions for doing this? Do any come with free trials? Is whiteboard animation pretty complicated to learn or is it like toondoo/bitstrips?
Any insights would be appreciated. I'm aware these are some fairly broad questions, but we're just getting started. So, we don't really know enough to be more specific.
Thanks,
Ruben

Hey Phil,
Thanks for filling me in and providing that link. It's a great place to start.

Hi Ruben,
So - as a rule, I actually don't think a basic animated video is the best kind of video to use to explain things in a whiteboard style. Part of the success of the Moz whiteboard Friday is that it connects people on a personal level to the brand, through videos of the actual Moz staff, rather than through animation which can be a bit cold and alienating - especially for B2B content.
Additionally, Animation is extremely difficult to scale well. If you're trying to do animation with regularity, you're almost certainly going to end up creating content that is low quality - unless you have tens of thousands to spend. There are a load of services out there that will do low priced animation for you (but I won't name them because of what I'm about to say) and in my opinion, the output quality from all of them is extremely generic.
My advice would be to invest in a basic studio set-up and actually start filming videos yourself, like Moz do. It sounds daunting, I know, but it's much more scalable and will pay off in the long term. Some more advice here: http://wistia.com/learning/video-production

Lazy Loading & Image SEO
I wanted to implement lazy loading on my whole domain, but was unsure about the effect on the organic image search. Therefore I implemented it some months ago on 3 selected URLs with medium organic image traffic. Unfortunately all 3 pages dropped significantly (roughly 80%) of image impressions and clicks (seach console data). It seems that just images within the fold, that are not loaded via lazy load are still ranking. Does anybody have here more positive experiences?

Which SEO tactic should I concentrate on first?
Hi All, I'm a freelancer specialising in marketing and advertising for small businesses Creative Express and I was wondering what I should concentrate on first in terms of SEO? I know that targeting the right keywords are important, as are backlinks, but also TOS etc. I haven't built up much of any, but the time has come to put in significant effort in SEO. Is there something that I should be putting the most effort in to? Is there a list somewhere that shows priorities? Thanks in advance, Dan

Partner outranking main site in local
I've been working on local for a client, and it looks like the partner's name and one review is outranking the firm name and it's 20 reviews. The firm's GMB profile is better, but they're still buried. Any advice?

Is there an easy way to see how competitive a local search term is?
Is there a quick and easy way to see how competitive local search terms are? I am looking at helping my clients show up on the local search results. Some times all I have to do is claim a listing and they move right to the top. Sometimes I claim a listing and nothing happens so I get links and I get reviews and it takes awhile. I want to be able to put an accurate price point on the service I am offering. I have looked at the search volume and it hasn't been the best indicator because some industries are more competitve than others. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
