Sudden surge in discovered links
-
Hi everyone,
Recently Moz discovered a lot of old backlinks to my url. Some of them don't even exist anymore. I don't understand how Moz has found these links, even if they don't exist? And why did Moz find them suddenly all at once?
Can anyone help me with this question?
Thanks!

What your business wants is quality links, and you want to build them over a very long period of time. For example, you want to get quality links, but from many different quality websites, like BBC News, but you want to get these over a long period.
We actually had a website was linking to us, sending thousands of links and this can damage your search engine optimisation if they are low quality links. Instead what you are high quality links. The links must also be relevant to your business, so we sell luxury summerhouse, so we only want links from gardening websites.

Hi there,
Sam from Moz's Help Team here!
Could you pop a message about this over to help@moz.com with your account information/site URL, as well as some examples of some of the links in question so we can take a look at this for you?
Thank you!!

Unsolved Large discrepancy in number of links using compare links tool
Hi there, I’m trying to understand the large discrepancy in number of links among websites. For instance, I am comparing landing pages among two different colleges. One college has over 7 million links, while the other has only 72,000 links. Meanwhile, these colleges are fairly comparable in terms of population and prestige. Could anyone help me understand why this metric is wide ranging, and how a college could have so many links? Specifically looking at total links, internal links, external links, and linking domains.

Unsolved Inbound Links Sudden Decline
Hi,
Link Explorer | | Jane090987
There is a question of my site that the number of linking domains has experienced a sudden decline - lost inbound links for around 100k in several days.
We are wondering the reason of this sudden decline, is it a common fluctation or is there some problems in our site? Thanks for your answers in advance!0 -
How is Moz DA affected by spam links? Disavow file?
So it does not appear that moz let's you upload your disavow file. So when moz calculates your DA how do spammy links factor in? After digging through our GA it appears our site was hit with the 2016 penguin update and never recovered. Our weekly visitors were 2k, then dropped to 500 and have stayed close to that level for a while. We've used the disavow tool, without success over the past 3 years. During that time we have done link out reach and built around 10 legit good quality DA links since. But we have not recovered. At this point i'm thinking I should just remove the disavow file. Moz says our spam score for our domain is 5%.

Crawling and Links - Showing Links
Hello I have a campaign in Moz that shows a new site as having no domain authority and no links. The site does have links to it, but they don't show up on OSE. Does Moz count links in the comments section of blogs (or is this counted as social, when the commenting system is one that requires facebook login?) I know blog comments are not great for SEO, I just use them when the post/link is 100% genuinely relevant. The site does have actual links on websites not just comment links, so it isn't showing any type of link. What is the best way to see the links the site has? Thanks!

None of the pages crawled contain an email address or links to a social profile...
I'm trying to reduce the amount of spam flags our website has using the Open Site Explorer tool. Currently, we have 2/17 flags based on: Large Site with Few Links - We found very few sites linking to this site, considering its size No Contact Info - None of the pages crawled contain an email address or links to a social profile The "few links" can be ignored, we're working on this. We don't have a visible email address on the website and we don't particularly want one. We prefer customers to fill out our online form or to call us. Moz say "none of the pages crawled contain an email address OR links to a social profile" - we do have social buttons on every page of the website, but these are official Facebook and Twitter buttons that are rendered with Javascript, so don't actually appear in the page source on load. If we replace these with actual links to our pages using Facebook and Twitter icons, will this flag be removed since Moz are saying "or links to a social profile" - making it sound optional. Thanks!

Why is the company reference of "designed by" with a link back my web development site not being indexed as a link?
Using the Mozbar I am analyzing my links and my competitors links. I am noticing other web developer sites are getting credit/index links from all their client's websites with the "designed by...." link in the footer. However, for me I only see one "inbound link" in the link analysis report. Sometimes I notice a company getting several inbound links on one site they built. I have built many other sites and have my company link below on all the footers. Why are the other sites not showing up as "inbound links" on the link analysis report? Thanks for your help! Nikki

Just Discovered Links not appearing in main index
Hi Around October, November (and ongoing since then) we had some links appear in the "just discovered" index of OSE, and yet they've never made it into the main list of domains linking to the website. We have amassed quite a few links from various domains that seem to get picked up in "Just Discovered", but not by the standard list of links to our site Is there any reason for this?

Why won't Open Site Explorer detect inbound links from big name websites?
I understand smaller, spammy sites woudn't get indexed, but some of the websites linking to mine have high domain authorities. The website is a parked subdomain.
