One keyword per page?
-
I have a health insurance lead gen domain.
One of the keywords I want to rank for are "student health insurance".
If I have a related keyword like "aetna student health insurance", is it better to include that keyword and backlinks with that anchor text to my "student health insurance" page or do a separate page for that keyword?
-
In a lot of cases I optimize the same page for several related keywords - like in your case.
The only thing I follow is to place a tier one keyword and tier two, three related keywords and know/ be sure which one is which so the plan is crisp and clear.
I usually optimize more for the main keyword and I use most of the on-page optimization for this particular keyword. I optimize tier two and three on the same page without cutting any modules from the main one (using some h2,h3 maybe and to be sure the page has a good % of the main keyword first and then the second and third tier ones.)
The anchor text for links that will point to this page will vary and I think that is a good thing - a natural thing and it will help overall including your link diversity.
It's better to have more anchor text with the links for your page and not only "student health insurance" as anchor text.
Overall is a natural thing to rank for more then one keyword especially for long tail variations.
However, that's just my opinion. I do that a lot in my optimization sessions and the results so far based on this strategy are good.
Hope it helps.

Generally, it's nice to have one page per keyword, as it's the best way in my opinion. However, you can easily target multiple terms on one page using link building and anchor text!
I would say another page never hurts, just write some outstanding content for it and you're good to go!

My site is samhillbands.com If I search “Book a band in Charlottesville” - This page is returned #1 out of 427,000 https://www.samhillbands.com/bands-by-location/Charlottesville-VA However if I search "Book a band in Atlanta" - I do have a result on page 1 out of 16,700,000 https://www.samhillbands.com/bands/retreat-band But the corresponding /bands-by-location/ page is nowhere to be found: https://www.samhillbands.com/bands-by-location/Atlanta-GA Thoughts on what I can do?

Too many on page links
Hi i'm new to MOZ, after sacking my SEO consultant due to the penguin update. My site position isn't fantastic right now for my national and local search terms 😞 The first problem i have is tackling too many on page links. I understand it should be 100 or less, unless users would benefit more. Looking at my links i have up to 200 on page links (which i know are not beneficial or user friendly). If i give you an example this page has 208 links: http://www.drivejohnsons.co.uk/blog/page/3 Heres another one with 157 links: http://www.drivejohnsons.co.uk/author/admin/page/2 Here's one that isn't associated with my blog that has 188 links: http://www.drivejohnsons.co.uk/testimonials On average most pages excluding the blog have around 120 links per page and i know thats to do with my Nav Bar - which i will sort out. My question is: Because the majority of these high link pages are associated with my blog, will that affect my site SEO performance? If yes, does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can reduce the total links on each page within my blog? The more i blog, this number is only going to increase 😞 Im using wordpress. I was just wondering if any of these imports would help ? | Blogger | Install the Blogger importer to import posts, comments, and users from a Blogger blog. Blogroll | Install the blogroll importer to import links in OPML format. Categories and Tags Converter | Install the category/tag converter to convert existing categories to tags or tags to categories, selectively. LiveJournal | Install the LiveJournal importer to import posts from LiveJournal using their API. Movable Type and TypePad | Install the Movable Type importer to import posts and comments from a Movable Type or TypePad blog. RSS | Install the RSS importer to import posts from an RSS feed. Tumblr | Install the Tumblr importer to import posts & media from Tumblr using their API. WordPress | Install the WordPress importer to import posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags from a WordPress export file. | If anyone can help, i would very grateful.

Self-cannibalizing issue with category page
I am doing well with a category page and I just ran a report card and am having issues with self-cannibalizing. I have a signature at the bottom of each blog post that links to this category page because it is my MAIN category. So I changed the anchor text so it didn't have the exact same keyword but underneath each post, it shows all the categories that post belongs to. Usually it is at least 2. So should I change the name of the category page and then have the SEO title be for the keyword I am ranking well with? Or should I just self-cannibalize? Or should I not have all the categories show underneath each post? I was thinking that would help lower my bounce rate since it would lead them to another page that interests them. Edit: To be clear, all these links are linking to that very category page. So linking back to itself. They are not linking to a different page with the target keyword. Also I am worried about reducing internal linking power if the anchor text is not the keyword I am trying to rank with? Help appreciated!

Low page rank directories but high domain authority?
I just paid someone to submit me to a few directories and I saw were I was listed on one of them today. The url page authority of where I was listed was a "1" with zero moz trust and zero moz authority. The root domain authority is a "69". Is page authority or domain authority the most important for links? I believe all the directories I was submitted to have url page authority of "1". ( I watched a video yesterday and I think the head guy said that page authority was most important but I am not sure.

Multiple KW's , on-page and anchor text
Hello, For each page on my site, I've targeted one primary keyword and three to four secondary keywords. All of the keywords variants are tightly themed. With some on-page, I've ranked page two or three for all of the keywords and many are starting to convert based on Analytics data. Each page scores an "A" using the SEOmoz KW targeting tool for the "primary keyword only". For secondary keywords, I've only included words but not the complete keyword. For example, if the primary keyword is "blue green widgets" and the secondary keyword is "get blue green widgets", I've included the word "get" throughout the copy to target the secondary keyword. My questions are... Should I include each secondary keyword once in the copy and not just the word "get" for example? Just wondering if there is a better approach to target all of the keywords via on-page. When getting links to each page, how would you vary the anchor text to target all of the keywords, primary and secondary? Thanks!
