Pop up livechat - annoying or better conversions?
-
Do you guys find that visitors find pop up livechat software annoying, or do you find that it leads to significantly more conversions? What I mean by pop up is software that appears without the user clicking the 'chat now' button.
-
I find it annoying. There's one site that has the prompt asking if you if you want to chat show up in the middle of the page (and need to be dismissed) on every page on the site. I avoid using that site if at all possible. As a user, it's nice to have the option to chat now, but prefer that it not be in my face. I don't have any experience with conversion data, however. The searches I did on the web return data from vendors offering the service, so it's biased, but it may provide some insight for you.

Test it, thats the only way to know. Only do the pop up on 20% of your traffic because traditionally pop ups are annoying & hurt conversion rate.

Is it better to keep a glossary or terms on one page or break it up into multiple pages?
We have a very large glossary of over 1000 industry terms on our site with links to reference material, embedded video, etc. Is it better for SEO purposes to keep this on one page or should we break it up into multiple pages, a different page for each letter for example? Thanks.

URL structure of the page: Does this one need to contain the most important keyword for better SEO?
Hi everyone, I’m trying to get "air-conditioner-repair.html" to rank higher for the keyword "air conditioner los angeles". I am wondering whether or not I should change URL to "air-conditioner-los-angeles-repair.html" to get better results? Will be thankful very much for any advise you can offer!

Better to hyphenate URL or no?
Sea Glass Jewelry or Sea-Glass-Jewelry My domain name does not have my keyword in it, so I have been using the category as a means to get the keyword in the URL. My site would say www.abcdefghijk.com/sea-glass-jewelry/sterling-starfish-necklace When I run the review, it tells me that I have too many parameters. Is it too long? Should I remove hyphens? Which is better?

Is it better to delete old job pages on a recruitment site?
My client (online recruitment) has over 1.5 million pages indexed, the majority of which are old job posts and listings since they began. I wanted to know if it would be better to keep all of the pages, or advise my client to delete some of the archive as these pages will no longer be attracting traffic.

Which is better, a directory 301 redirect or each page in the directory?
A customer of mine has a site with lots of articles and they are all quite spammy. They have not been affected by penguin yet so they asked what to do. I suggested losing the articles directory and 301 redirect to either the home page or another important page. Would a 301 redirect on the entire directory to a single page be the way to go or add redirects from each page within the directory and spread out redirects to various pages in website? Or do you have a better suggestion?

Re SEO, Is it better to have a mega menu or one split into categories?
Hi From an SEO perspective is it better to have 1 large listed menu - over 100 internal links - or say a much smaller menu split into say 10 categories - so 10 links.
On-Page Optimization | | joeprice
This menu would be appearing on nearly all pages but not the home page In terms of the user experience, in my case, I have a feeling having 1 large menu is possibly preferable as it reduces the number of clicks the user makes to get to the desired information and categorisation can be a bit subjective, but i'd like some advice from an SEO perspective. Has anyone noticed a big delta between Google and Bing rankings? For example, we rank favorably in Google, but not so favorably in Bing. Are there different tactics I should use to rank better in Bing?
An example is in Google, we currently rank #1 & #2 for "yoga pants" for Athleta and Old Navy. In Bing, I'm on page 2. Any thoughts here?
