Starting Fresh with a New PPC Account
-
I've inherited an Adwords account with a few years' worth of history. The account has changed hands a lot though and there's a lot of clutter and confusing account architecture (confusing and redundant campaigns, thousands of inactive long-long-tail keywords for every match type, etc.).
I have a new architecture/strategy in mind but I'm unsure if I should start a new account from scratch, pause 90% of things and start some new campaigns, or delete a bunch of stuff permanently and start some new campaigns.
My fear with the pausing option is that I'll have to wade through a bunch of clutter in my daily management and reporting - I like to keep things clean. My fear with deleting is losing data - I'd like to be able to always look back at how things were. And my fear with the new account from scratch method is losing whatever account/campaign quality score or historical value the account has built over time and the logistics of having to stop the old account to create a new account. Can you even have 2 accounts with the same domain or would I have to delete the old account before launching the new?
For all my past PPC accounts, I started them more or less from scratch so this is new to me. Any advice/insights would be most appreciated.
Thanks!
Jeff

you can pause it and change the settings to only show active campaigns

Hi Jeff. I agree with ennovation, create a clean slate for yourself but keep access to that account for the history, hopefully it had conversions/goals setup.
Be sure to delete all old payment details from old Adwords accounts, I had one account get hacked last month and luckily I saw an email come through with "Google is debiting your banking account". It was an account two years old and Google didn't make it easy getting a refund even though it was clearly hacked.

Yes pause existing. and just review the history & analyze keywords etc.
The idea is not to have the same keyword running at the same time. I think that would affect your keyword performance.
I did not have any downside for creating new campaign. Remember That your Landing Page is important so if you just work on adwords only and leave the website as before, there is a chance that you won't feel huge of improvement.
Hope it helps.

So you're saying you would pause things and start some new campaigns leaving all the clutter and inactive elements? My strategy calls for several new campaigns for budgetary and geo-targeting control and several targeted ad groups within - so it's a pretty hefty architecture I need to implement.
What's the downside of starting a new account and just leaving the old one in-tact for historical reference?
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Don't delete the old campaign as the history there may help you analyze better and plan the future actions etc.
I am doing the same thing for a client of mine.
I would suggest to build a completely new campaign and create multiple adgroups targeting your website categories => keywords.
Avoid broad match unless you have an extensive list of negative keywords.
There is a lot of work in getting the Adwords campaign properly setup. If not you will loose money.

What to do against competitor PPC sabotage?
This morning a competitor of ours decided to go on a PPC rampage against us. Basically our budgeting money was spent within the first hour of going live on bing. Its pretty obvious whats going on as we had a tremendous amount of clicks all from the exact same keyword within a short period of time. Obviously first step was to contact bing and they are going to refund me a credit once they go through their process, but they didnt really give me confidence about the future. It seems they may not be able to prevent this from continually happening.. ? The attacker used some sort of IP spoofing as the clicks were all from different IP's which is probably why it snuck pasted Bing. Wondering what have you guys done in the past to prevent this or combat it? Thankfully it didnt happen on google

PPC landing page cannibalizing the Organic page's juice?
I have a PPC campaign pointing to a custom landing page.

I also have a different webpage for the same product that is optimized to rank organically (on the same site). Should I noindex the PPC landing page so it doesn't steal the thunder from my organic webpage? If so, does noindex damage the adwords quality score? Should I just give the PPC landing page a different Title tag that doesn't cannibalize my organic page and call it a day? Does a PPC landing page need a title tag for a better adwords quality score? Thanks!0 -
Does sitewide SEO affect PPC Quality Score?
When evaluating a PPC landing page for Quality Score, does Google evaluate the other pages that the landing page is linked to? For example, if we have a well optimized page on the site for "Widgets", can it outscore a well optimized PPC landing page that is isolated in a "disallow" directory with no links into or out of the page? I'm not sure if I am making myself clear...

Starting Out With PPC, Need Some Advice
We are starting out with PPC for our site. I wanted to know what the best starting point is for our site. First, some basic info: We sell thousands of products from a large number of manufacturers We can offer the same prices as competitors, but we can't beat their prices Here are my questions: What would be my USP if my prices are the same, and we have the same store policies as competitors? Is it best to start with product pages (as opposed to keywords)? Meaning, setting up a feed via MC and connecting to our adwords account. Any advice is appreciated 🙂

PPC Keyword Ranking
The SEOmoz PRO tool shows how keywords rank in the organic part of the SERPs. Does anyone know if there is another tool out there that shows the same thing for ranking in the ads section of the SERPs? Also, does anyone know the winning lottery numbers (any lottery will do, I'm not fussy!). Thanks Neil

Your Google AdWords account has been permanently suspended for repeated violation of AdWords or Landing Page and Site policies in this or a related account.
My client nor I received any warning. We even had a google adwords team optimize the account and my rep does not yet know the reason for the ban. Not sure if its related but their google organic rankings dropped significantly at the same time. https://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=164786 Any advice here? Do these Questions get indexed by google? I will ask my client if I can disclose the domain. Is there any way around a permanent ban? They were spending 50K per month. Is this enough to have any clout?
