  • We have several pages in our site like this one, http://www.spectralink.com/solutions, which redirect to deeper page, http://www.spectralink.com/solutions/work-smarter-not-harder. Both urls are listed in the sitemap and both pages are being indexed. Should we remove those redirecting pages from the site map? Should we prevent the redirecting url from being indexed? If so, what's the best way to do that?

  • I have a low-traffic website (under 100 unique visitors per day) and I've encountered a strange issue started yesterday morning. I acquired three back-links, one of these back-links is contextual and the other two are site-wide. The site-wide back-links are from PA 40+ blogs. It looks like the back-links are already indexed by Google. Despite these new back-links, my rankings across multiple keywords have dropped several positions. I'm new to SEO, but I would assume new back-links would improve my rankings. None of these back-links are low quality links, they are from real established blogs with high domain and page authority values. Could anyone give me insights into why my rankings may have dropped with new back-links?

  • Each of the categories I would certainly fall under aren't accepting sites at this time because of it isn't showing the icon you need next to it to submit a website. I have been checking this for months, but it isn't changing. Is there another way in or am I just out of luck here? See step 3:  http://www.dmoz.org/docs/en/add.html

  • We've been working our way back after all Google's been doing this year. We'd been sitting in the 30s most of the year, but even with some improvement in keywords as well as backlinks, we just dropped from 31 to 26. Is there a way to find a report or at least some insight as to why we dropped 6?

  • OK, so technically we are not a franchise, but our structure is very similar, in that we have numerous areas or cities, within which there are numerous locations (all with separate landing pages). We need to closely track the performance of each area/city as a whole (like you would a franchise), and the individual locations within it. We have a home based office in each main area/city, though not for the purposes of meeting customers etc. We have www.domain.com/area-1/location-A, www.domain.com/area-1/location-B and then www.domain.com/area-2/location-A, www.domain.com/area-2/location-B etc etc. This means that we have a relatively small handful of keywords which are relevant to any location, apart from the addition of the location or city name, like "house cleaners in [location], home cleaning services in [location]. So, do I set up my campaigns as domain.com/Newcastle, domain.com/Manchester etc, have say 10 keywords based around house cleaning, and then add all the local areas within that area/campaign? If so, should I add my keywords - things like "house cleaners" "home cleaning" "domestic cleaning companies" etc. to a campaign for /Newcastle, then add locations within Newcastle such as Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton etc? Will this then allow us to track our rankings for "house cleaners in {Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton etc}", "home cleaning in {Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton etc}, "domestic cleaning companies in {Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton etc}? Any help, general, specific is much appreciated! Many thanks Edward

  • My questions are in regards to Google being able to index PDF's and Images that are viewed from a document reader. The website offers visitors that login to view a variety of documents including PDFs and images. Will Google be able to find and index these documents so they can show up in search results? Will the PDFs show up in search results and will the images show up in search results? Will Google be able to find and index these documents so they can show up in search results? Will the PDFs show up in search results and will the images show up in search results? Will the PDFs show up in search results and will the images show up in search results? How does the document reader affect the SEO of the website? How does the login affect the SEO of the website? Thank you, Joey

  • hi community let's say i have to 2 e-commerce sites selling the same English books in different currencies - one of the site serves the UK market ( users can purchase in sterling) while another one European markets ( user can purchase in euro). Sites are identical. SEO wise, while the "European" site homepage has a good ranking across major search engines in europe, product pages do not rank very well at all. Since site is a .com too it s hard to push it in local search engines. I would like then to push one of the sites across all search engines, tackling duplicate content etc.Geotargeting would make the rest. I would like to add canonicals tag pointing at the UK version across all EU site product pages, while leaving the EU homepage rank. I have 2 doubts though: is it ok to have canonical tags pointing at an external site. is it ok to have part of a site with canonical tags, while other parts are left ranking?

  • I am looking at a website and have noticed that there are lots of photos living on different domain - so I imagine they're coming through from another website - e.g. the domain I'm looking at is www.chocolatecakeszoopla.com - the images on that domain name feature the third-party website's url - e.g.: www.chocolatecakestockimages.com/chocolatecakeicing.jpg - is this anything to worry about? I was imagining the pics would feature the same URL as the rest of the website - that would be more logical? Would it be better practice to amend image names to feature the URL of the site they appear on, or doesn't this really matter? Thanks, Luke

  • Sorry for the second post, thought this should have it's own. Here is the problem I am facing amongst many others. Let's take the search term "Air Jordan Release Dates 2017" and place it into Google Search.  Here is a link:
https://www.google.com/#q=air+jordan+release+dates+2017 Towards the bottom of the page, you will see a website that has SneakerFiles (my website) in the title.  The exact title is: Air Jordan Release Dates 2016, 2017 | SneakerFiles - Osce Now, this is my content, but not my website. For some reason, Google thinks this is my site. If you click on the link in search, it automatically redirects you to another page (maybe 302 redirect), but in the cache you can see it's mine:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:qrVEUDE1t48J:www.osce.gob.pe/take_p_firm.asp%3F+&cd=8&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us I have blocked the websites IP, disallowed my style.css to be used so it just shows a links without the style, still nothing. I have submitted multiple google spam reports as well as feedback from search.  At times, my page will return to the search but it gets replaced by this website. I even filed a DMCA with Google, they declined it. I reached out to their Host and Domain register multiple times, never got a response. The sad part about this, it's happening for other keywords, for example if you search "KD 9 Colorways", the first result is for my website but on another domain name (my website does rank 3rd for a different Tag page). The page I worked hard on keeping up to date. I did notice this bit of javascript from the cloaked/hacked/serp hijacking website: I disabled iFrames...(think this helps) so not sure how they are doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Note: I am using Wordpress if that means anything.

  • Hello, I have noticed this with some articles. Here is an example:
http://www.sneakerfiles.com/air-jordan-11-low-closing-ceremony-release-date/ For the term "Air Jordan 11 Low Closing Ceremony" I do not show up on the first 3 pages of Google even though the website has a back link to this particular page (maybe more). It's almost like some pages just disappear. Also I will rank very high (page 1) for a sneaker that is going to release for months then all of a sudden, about a week from the release, I disappear entirely.  Not sure why this is (other in my field also rank on page 1 but stay). The site has been around for just about 10 years now with a large amount of backlinks (I don't go out and try to obtain backlinks unless it's something exclusive to share with others). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I am helping a client with Local SEO efforts who has hundreds of blog posts (they have been doing 5 a week for the last 3 years) that contain full length articles about their industry.  The client's website itself has been very well optimized for all regards (CRO, Mobile, download speed, citations).  However they have very weak domain authority compared to their competitors. I am looking for a bona fide content distribution network I could use to promote my client's blog posts/articles.  I have used Linkvana in the past but I have become wary of them after the penguin update.  I also had functionality problems using their interface. Are their any bona fide content/article distribution networks out there? Thanks

  • I'm trying to use the Analyze Keyword tool in Moz Pro, and in the SERP Analysis table, my page has a PA of one, and zero root domains linking to it. If I look at the page in Google Search console, it says I have 229 root domains linking to the page from well known domains like github.com, meetup.com, stackoverflow.com, etc. This particular keyword has been tracked in Moz for the last 6 months, but I just noticed that it was extremely low. I am relatively new to Moz, so forgive me if I sound confused, but can someone explain to me how the numbers can be so low?

  • Hi all, Our blog utilizes a fair amount of guest blog articles. Each article includes a link to the authors site. Some memebers of our team believe it is best practice to no follow all of these links while others believe we should follow the links, Our page rank and domain authority are almost always much higher then the guest blogger's site so we want to know the pros and cons of nofollow vs follow of these links. Since the domain authority and page rank of guest blog sites are low will this have a negative effect on our site? They aren't spammy and are legitimate sites covering similar content. Any feedback would be greaty appreciated!

  • Hi, I'm targeting Boise, Idaho and building an SEO consulting website. Right now I only offer 3 things because that's what I have experience in: 1. On-site SEO 2. Content Audit 3. Start a company from scratch. Ecommerce, Service, or Informational I know #3 involves all SEO, so it will be challenging, but 1-3 is what I've been doing for 10 years. What feedback do you have as far as 1-3 being my 3 offers, and is $200/hour fair? I work off quotes by estimating my time at $200/hour. Thanks.

  • Hey Mozzers, We are improving our B2B site by adding product codes to headings & meta information etc to gain some traction ranking for our own products and those supplied by others when searched for by product code. Almost immediately we are hitting the top half of the first page for most of these and seeing some nice results. We would like to track our placement for these product codes in google but feel this would be a waste of our Moz Keyword limit and we really dont need to check them once a week, just one a month or so. Has anybody got any methods of tracking our ranking for a a big list of keywords say once a month which isn't too labour intensive? Many Thanks

  • Hi, I'm new to here so please be gentle!
I have a WIX site and had it for a few months. I have m own domain sportinglists.com and I am using MOZ to improve the SEO. Having read a few things it seems that I may struggle, given that I have a WIX site. I am playing around with a certain page, that will most likely be the most popular one on the site (fingers crossed), however when I run On-Page Optimization it fails to pick up the following things that I know I have added to the page; H1 (page title) - I added through the text options
Body text  - I added paragraph text and
Image Alt - put in through the settings Is this because that it is made in WIX that this won't be picked up or is more likely my incompetency? Thanks

  • hello, another problem i am facing is that if i see in my rankings over 90% of keywords are connected with my home page. When i go to moz pro in Page Optimization Score wanting to optimize the page to rank better there are some propositions the issue is that it is impossible to have over 100 keywords in home page title to optimize it better for each one of these. I have more specific build more specific sites for many of these keywords in the site but google continues to rank all those keywords for the home page and not for the more specific page that could also be optimized for every keyword it deals with. In adition the question i posted in moz with url: https://moz.com/community/q/greek-language-distinctiveness is also mainly connected with above issue. Please help thanks

  • Hello, i am facing the below problem and want your help. I will give an example for you to understand. The problem with the Greek language is that in or words we have tones above a letter in the most words. I will present now which the problem is. When you want to write dissertation the right way is "πτυχιακές εργασίες" and this is the most important service we offer the problem is that people are searching using the same keyword but without the tones like : "πτυχιακες εργασιες" . If you see monthly searches in keyword planner the difference in volume is huge. Also in rankings for the first one i am on place 2 but for the second one i am on place 3. The problem is that i cannot have the grammatically wrong phrase in my page title and also in my content so what should i do? The same problem is almost on all keywords where people are searching without a tone or searching the same phrase using English characters like "ptyxiakes ergasies". I have fully analyzed the problem. Please give a hand thanks in advance

  • Hey guys, So I'm having trouble understanding why we aren't receiving credit for linking root domains by Moz. Our site URL is https://www.expertip.net Google states that we have 3,648 links - most of which were obtained by Yext indexing us for our locations. We don't seem to be getting credit for ANY of those links. Most seem to be reputable, like yellowpages.com, etc. and google shows 156 domains. Any help here can be appreciated. I believe that we've followed best practices as far as root domains and 301s go. I've attached images to show further. Thanks,

  • Hi Mozers, I have a bit of a tricky question I need some help answering. My agency are building a brand new website for a client of ours which means changing the domain name (yay...). So! I have my 301's all ready to go for the UK locale, however, the issue I have is that the site will also eventually have French, German and Spanish locales - but these won't be ready to go until later this year. We will be launching in just English for September. The current site already has the French and German locales on it as well. Just to make sure I'm being clear, the site will be www.example.com for launch, but by lets say November, we will also have a www.example.com/fr/ and www.example.com/de/ site launched too. So what do I do with the locale URLs? As I said above, the exisitng site already has the French and German locales on it, so I don't particularly want to redirect the /fr/ and /de/ URLs to the English homepage, as I will want to redirect them to the new URLs in November, and redirecting more than once is bad for SEO right? Any ideas? Would 302s maybe be the best suggestion? Thanks! Virginia
