Absolutely, it's very helpful to focus on "non exact anchor text" , and to target keywords which are related to your business when building links.
Also, its very useful to use your domain name because generally speaking, people tend to use the domain name when they refer to a website (For further reading you can check this excellent post about avoiding over-optimization )
What is definetely important here is the topic of articles you are going to create.
If users like them and share them or just add comment on them, then you will probably win big.

I'm working on a page for couple of months now and try to rank for very competitive keyword. I have reached position 12 and it's 97% optimized, the sites keeps going up and down between position 10 & 13. I already changed content a couple of times and already created a few links with the targeted anchor tags. However I'm scared if I create more links it will be penalized. What do you suggest? I have read from an authorative source that you can duplicate your blog posts on your google plus account without issues as google knows that this is your 'property'. is this correct and what would be the value in doing so? until we have need sign posting new blog posts with a link. Ash

How have they done that? DA20 site in p2 for very competitive search term
Not sure whether to actually name the term and site in question, but basically it is a very big term for a popular type of home furniture. Since the algo change, there is a site thats appeared in p2, right behind the market leader in google uk. The site has a domain authority of 20, and only 84 links - none of which even have the anchor text in question, and infact well over 90% have the same anchor text which is related but different to the search term. The search term appears on the home page 3 times - once in a 120 character+ keyword stuffed home link title, once in a 100 character+ keyword stuffed h1 tag that isnt even visible on the home page and one in a paragraph that is visible.

Good venues to post articles and generate link juice.
I have a website (www.allianceconcretepumps.com) and am stuggling a bit to get rankings for particular key words. I have lots of great content I could post, in hopes to recieve some links.
