I found something interesting in Google analytic
2 days ago i started getting visitors from a referral source called
if I click on it , it say the referral path is
/adserver/showinterstitial.php
there have been 300+ visitors in last 2 days and before that nothing. the site is pushing my bounce rate up. 3 days ago bounce rate was at around 50%, because of this site the bounce rate went up to over 75% already in 2 days...
is this some sort of attack , i don't understand?

Looks like your site was the target of an advertisement. If you didn't place the add... stranger things have happened. It's not all that uncommon to get a link placed somewhere weird on the web and receive 100s or even 1000s of off-topic visits a day. Almost always in these cases, your bounce rate and time-on-site are negatively effected.
But don't worry. A high bounce rate in this case won't hurt you at all. What Google (and the other search engines) are looking for is the "long click". Dr. Pete calls it "dwell time" in this article he recently wrote.
What this means is that when Google itself directs users to your website, they don't want those users returning to Google right away to click on another result or perform another search. This is the type of high bounce rate that can hurt you. On the other hand, Google doesn't care (and doesn't even look at your analytics) if a 3rd party is sending you off-topic clicks.
Hope this helps. Best of luck with your SEO!

When we talk about bounce rate, we mean in terms of relationship to Google. Let's say someone searches for "widgets" and finds your site. You sell fuchsia widgets but the person was looking for blue. So they "bounce" back to Google and go to the next site. When this happens, Google takes note. It's therefore in your best interests to make sure that people who enter your site for a term find what they are looking for.

Ranking #1 but Bounce Rate is 90%?!
Hi Mozers, We have a page that's ranking #1 for several very high volume queries but the bounce rate is 90%. It's puzzling that the page is ranking so well even though the bounce rate is exceedingly high. The algorithm takes user engagement metrics into account so you would think that it those metrics would push the page down. Having said that, the page does have lots of backlinks. So maybe it's ranking despite the fact that people are clicking out? Does anyone have an idea? Thanks, Yael

What to try when Google excludes your URL only from high-traffic search terms and results?
We have a high authority blog post (high PA) that used to rank for several high-traffic terms. Right now the post continues to rank high for variations of the high-traffic terms (e.g keyword + " free", keyword + " discussion") but the URL has been completed excluded from the money terms with alternative URLs of the domain ranking on positions 50+. There is no manual penalty in place or a DCMA exclusion. What are some of the things ppl would try here? Some of the things I can think of: - Remove keyword terms in article - Change the URL and do a 301 redirect - Duplicate the POST under new URL, 302 redirect from old blog post, and repoint links as much as you have control - Refresh content including timestamps - Remove potentially bad neighborhood links etc Has anyone seen the behavior above for their articles? Are there any recommendations? /PP

High charts, anyone used them? SEO impact/things to take into consideration
Hi there Moz Community, Our org is looking into implementing Highcharts, interactive charts on our website instead of having regular static chart images. I found this post recently about how Moz implemented them a while back, a couple years ago. https://moz.com/community/q/question-for-moz-developers-highcharts Moz made a pretty good case for them over alternatives. They would certainly keep people on the page longer, which is good, but is there anything else that I should take into account or think of before going ahead with this from an SEO perspective? Does anyone else have experience with them on their websites? Thanks

Does this setup meet the ratings rich snippet guidelines?
Hey everyone, I am setting up a few product landing pages and hope to be able to see the star ratings via the search engine. I attached a screenshot of the SCHEMA code included on the page and results from the testing tool. On each landing page there are 3 reviews taken from the product page and the overall rating of the product. There are also 2 links directly to the product page. Google states that: Make sure the reviews and ratings you mark up are readily available to users from the marked-up page. It should be immediately obvious to users that the page has review or ratings content. Do you guys think the landing page set up I described above is sufficient to comply with google's guidelines? yafujZe.jpg

Star ratings in rich snippets not displaying
Hi all, I have a site where star ratings are being used in rich snippets. Up until about 8 weeks ago these were displaying in SERPs as normal. They have since stopped being displayed in SERPs even though Google's Rich Snippets testing tool says that the markup is correct and they display within the test tool environment. I'm just wondering if anybody else has had the same problem and if there's a solution? Thanks, Elias

Single, high ranking pank disappears from Google?
Hi all, The question I have concerns a high ranking page on my site that has disappeared from Google. It was in the top 5 for the target keyword and it currently ranks 3 on Bing. I recently migrated my domain (one month ago), but it seems to have gone very well. No other pages have taken a hit like this. The 301 redirect is in place and working well. I've used the Moz Tools to see if anything is weird, but it all looks fine. Oh, and yes, I did check Google Webmaster Tools - no messages and other related pages on my site are ranking on the second and third pages for the terms. Also, the site is consulting services - nothing dodgy. Any ideas? Why just this one page? What are my options? Thanks for any advice you may have. John

High Rankings, Search Volumes & Low CTR
I'm hitting a roadblock: I've successfully optimized our company website for 5 keyphrases, 3 of which we're ranking #1 in Google.com for, and for which monthly search volumes in the US are > 10,000. Yet, our CTR for those searches is below 1%!!! In plain words: people are looking for our industry, find us on as the first result, yet don't click on us! It's the first time I've experienced this in SEO and I'm wondering what is going on - and if anyone has suggestions. Any help is appreciated...
