Transpose H1 and H2 Headline
-
Hi SeoZ
Quick question, is it a problem if the H2 Element comes after the H1 Element? Also does Google recoginise it if i make the h2 font bigger than the h1?
For example:
HTML:
Awesome Headline bla bla bla
Keyword1 Keyword 2
Css:
h2 {font-size: 32px;}
h1 {font-size: 28px;}Thank you, Alex
-
Thank you algri.
I wouldn't do that.
I think I did something like that a long time ago, but "natural" is a much better thing to do now.
That is what google might call "doing something for the search engines,"
rather than "doing something for your readers."
If your page is really about that keyword, then I believe you would be better off getting that keyword into your page headline, which would be in the H1.
What you are doing is manipulating the power of the H1 to achieve your SEO goal, whereas you should be doing it for your reader, but structuring it so it works for the search engine as well.
I would change what you have.

No it's because of the Headline.
Headline that the Users read and like
My Keyword, which is not too interesting for the user...
Your understand?

Having H1 after H2 seems a little strange.
Are you doing that for programming purposes?
Is the H1 or the H2 the same as Title ?
It would seem more "natural" to have H1 first , followed by H2
-
I think it depends on the type of content. Natural order - that from books, newspapers etc.. is from main title to subtitle, and in my opinion it is a best solution and natural direction of crawling a site. Good example are product sheets e.g. Canon Germany site  Canon Eos 1D X.
You can check it using seoMOZ On-Page Report Card, it gives you feedback about content arrangement and structure.
If you have specific content like adds you can use different structure on purpose.

Cool, thanks. What about the fact that the H2 Element comes after the H1 Element in the HTML-Code?
-
Hi,
In my opinion font size doesn's effect on SEO. So
is more important than
.
You can find topic in google forums - one of them: font size

I have images with text at the top of every page on my site. But no H1 or H tags at all. I would like the text on the image to be my H1 text. But I don't want to be repetitive. What should I do?

Issues with Multiple H1 tags on homepage?
Hi folks, My homepage has 3 identical H1 tags due to the fact that I have had to create individual hero images (with headings) for desktop, tablet and mobile. I couldn't get my theme to display the layout in exactly the way I wanted on each device without doing a specific hero image and tag for each device type. Does this have a major impact on my SEO? Thanks,

H1 tag mandatory?
Hi there! Is a mandatory to fullfill the H1 tag in order to improve SEO? I mean I'm in the case where the keyword selected is appropiate to optimize the page but not appropiate to be in H1 tag 'cause it probably "doesn't sound good" to the user. Is it enought to be present in the url, title and description?Any suggestion? Thanks in advanced.

Is it ok to use the H1 tag for bullet points?
Our search results page doesn't have a typical H1 tag because adding a true header would take up space unnecessarily. Therefore, we've assigned the h1 tag to be the breadcrumb. As filters are applied, the breadcrumb grows to include these filters. This breadcrumb is coded as bullet points, even though they're not the typical style of bullet points. Here's a screenshot:Â http://screencast.com/t/AjGC9iAYR3 For example, the breadcrumb: Home >> NYC Social Media Classes >> Adult >> Manhattan is currently coded as: | |

| Â | id="cat_social-media" type="checkbox" checked onclick="setCategory('social-media')" /> |
| Â | # style="font-size: 12px; display: inline;">NYC Social Media Classes |
| Â | <label <span="">for</label>="cat_social-media"> |

| Â | |
| Â | <nobr>id="nbhd_manhattan" type="checkbox" checked onclick="setNeighborhood('manhattan')" /><label <span="">for</label>="nbhd_manhattan">Manhattan</nobr> |
| Â | |
| Â | | Right now that H1 tag just relates to 'NYC Social media classes', but we'd like to expand it to include both 'Manhattan' & 'Adults' - would that be ok? And if so, would it be better to put the tag before and after the tag?0 -
H1 tags the same on all pages - problem?
I generally use wordpress as a CMS and have the H1 tag coded in the header.php include file. This results as it being the same in all page - I normally do something like Keyword - Company name and set the company logo as the background and move the text off screen using text indent (CSS). Is having the same on every page a bad thing? I might be tricky to change so their all unique.
