80% Bounce Rate.. Any ideas why?
-
I launched at the beginning of the year and get about 7k uniques a month with about 50 or so unique pages. (Just in case sample size is maybe an issue?)
Anyhow, here is an example page, it has about 1200 uniques and a bounce rate of 90%
http://winefolly.com/update/calories-in-wine/
Any ideas why? A lot of traffic comes from social media right when the post comes out, maybe they are looking and leaving?
-
I think also the folding of the page, there is nothing interesting and you can only see the top of the first image, you also need to think about that, not everybody has a big screen, check your Google Analytics. Try to move everything up and play with the empty spaces.
Also check your marketing campaign maybe your are promoting to the wrong audience.
I hope this help.

The social media traffic is from our subscriber base (and anyone they share to) and the rest is from google keyword traffic.
Mostly all wine people, all organic adoption.
Hopefully these people subscribed to something they wanted to see, good idea though!

Though I would say the main reason why you have a bad bounce rate is the source of the traffic if they were coming through a targeted keyword from google you would have a better bounce rate. So you have to put something at the top to get a visitors interest. but if your traffic is anyone like me (don't drink) they just bounce because of the topic.

I would bet big money that Todd is right. When I landed I was thinking.... "Huh? Where's the content?"
These pages are really lean above the fold. Lots of wasted space. Huge gutter at the top, lots of redundant, and big eye sinks on the right and left.
I would frame the page and get some darker solid-color background around the design to hold eyes in on the content.

Do you think I have too much header? Or maybe the initial picture takes up too much space? Or are you referring to the sidebar?
-
The related post plugin is installed at the bottom. Do you think it should be moved up higher? Or put in the sidebar maybe?
I can see the value of adding some internal linking higher in the text body maybe to related posts.
-
I would say it is your layout. You may want to bring some text closer to the top that would captivate the visitor to keep reading and clicking around.
-
Yes, I agree with PeterM22.
You need to know that most people that come to the site will have some passing interest on this subject. You need to provide some good links (internally to other parts of your site) and some other 'call to action' in the upper fold of the page. This will probably tickle the fancy of most viewers and have good click thrus whereas the die hard readers will scroll down to read more.
-
Yes possibly..Make sure your titles are awesome and eye catching, this can help a lot. Perhaps add a "related posts" plugin to wordpress. That will give people more places to go after they have read your posts.

Bounce rate high because customer login on different domain
Years ago we switch domain names for our site for almost everything except the client log in portal. Now we are experiencing really high bounce rates because site visitors will go to our site and then click on the client log in portal which takes them off our domain and on to our old domain. Because of this our bounce rate is around 80% and I know this is negatively effecting our traffic. Is there any way to fix this without switching the domain for the client log-in portal? Thanks for everyone's help!

Blog Post SEO - Bounce Rate & Layout
Mozzers, I wrote the following blog post about Microsoft’s current offer to receive $100 free in bing ads. http://www.cildermansolutions.com/blog/free-bing-ads-coupon-for-2017-get-100-in-free-advertising-credits I noticed that the bounce rate on the post is higher than i was expecting; I am wondering if this is because I put the eligibility rules for collecting the ads coupon in the 2nd paragraph...and people are just seeing that right away and bouncing. I obviously don’t want to lie or trick readers, but i am wondering if the community has any idea/suggestions. Thanks, Matt

Bounce Rate: Would GA consider a user interacting with a single page (i.e expanding text), before exiting a bounce?
Hey guys, I have done a ton of research regarding bounce rates, yet I cannot seem to find the answer I'm after. Senario: BoIf a user follows a link and lands on a product results page with various sets of filters and an "apply" button, looks through the site, adjusts the filter functions (without changing the url structure) and exists without going to another page - would that qualify as a bounce in Google Analytics? For example: If I click 'details' to see expandable text on a results page ( /credit-cards). The dynamic url I'm talking about is below: https://masii.co.th/thai-en/credit-card/compare-buy?category=shopping%2Ccashback%2Cair_miles%2Cassistance%2Cdining%2Cpetrol%2Crewards&income=30000

Decent Bounce Rate but extremely low visit duration and page depth?
I'm having a bit of difficulty understanding the Bounce Rate, Visit Duration, and Page Depth metrics in Google Analytics. GA is reporting that my site's bounce rate is pretty decent - currently 36%. Yet when I drill down into audience behavior engagement, I am seeing that the vast majority of visit durations are 0-10 seconds, and the page depth is only 1 for a majority of visitors. If this were the case, wouldn't my bounce rate be higher?

Seller rating in Serps
Hello everyone, I saw something weird today with my own site in Google: http://www.google.nl/webhp?hl=nl&tab=ww#hl=nl&sclient=psy-ab&q=xenon+h4&fp=534989fd828f8f2e&pws=0 The site you see position one is my site (HIDxenonverlichting.nl), you see the seller rating with the stars, but also nearly 2 rules of price information: ''Prijsklasse: Normale prijs: € 79,99 Tijdelijke prijs € 74,99 Inclusief 21% BTW & Gratis verzending!' At this site i don't even have MicroData installed for the reviews or prices, and i've never seen such a long price description in Google. So i was wondering, how could this happen, because i want this much information also at other product pages of course. But then first need to know how this happened? Regards, Yannick

Why would my Bounce Rate drop from 40% to 2% over 3 days without making any major changes to my site www.hiltonhead.com?
Our Wordpress site has had an historical bounce rate of 40% for the last 3 years but last Thursday it dropped to 17%, Friday to 7% and now is running at 2%. The pageviews per visit have also increased from 3 to almost 6. Thanks

.com Doman and off-shore host for an Australia company, does this hurt ratings?
We have a site based in Australia that has been using the .com domain. Recently the .com.au became available and we purchased it and use a 301 redirect. Does having a site hosted off-shore and a .com rather than .com.au for a company affect the ratings in google.com.au for Australian traffic?
