Click through rate crashing...
-
I have been on a pretty big content upgrade on my websites.
More content
5 pages to 14 pages
100 words to 500+ words per page
More images
More alt tags
This has increased my traffic & my click through rates due to a massive increase in impressions.
But because the impressions have gone up so much further my CTR had crashed.
I have gone from :
500--> 50
to
4500 -->70
In one month.
(Taken from Google webmaster tools)
Will having a much lower CTR hurt my ranking in the long run?
In the end I want more phone calls about my service so far I'm not yet seeing that conversion happening.
-
Just thought I would update on the situation.
I have just had a record month of calls and emails from positional clients.
Over 25 client contacts in 27 days.
By far a record May with 5 more days to go.
I'd say the new content is working well.
-
I don't want to be one of those sites that gets 1500 hits a day & no calls.
I have sites getting 100,000 / day and no calls... but we run adsense.
Maybe you should start selling something... what impulse buy could you offer?
-
That does make a lot of sense.
So as I start to rank lower for MORE phrases the CTR will go down because those NEW terms start lower in the SERPS.
So overall, a lower average CTR WON'T hurt?
I also noticed that one of my images had a huge spike in image search traffic but had a higher bounce rate since the people clicking on it did not get to see more "dirty" images...
I'm having a hard time mulling over more general traffic VS less very direct traffic.
I don't want to be one of those sites that gets 1500 hits a day & no calls.
-
Let's say that your old rankings were #3s #2s and #1s.
If the new pages and new keywords are ranking at #5s #6s and #7s then CTR would be expected to go down. Right?
So compare average ranking to average CTR.
Alternative is that competitors have more appeal in their title tag. Maybe offering free beer!

Bounce rate high because customer login on different domain
Years ago we switch domain names for our site for almost everything except the client log in portal. Now we are experiencing really high bounce rates because site visitors will go to our site and then click on the client log in portal which takes them off our domain and on to our old domain. Because of this our bounce rate is around 80% and I know this is negatively effecting our traffic. Is there any way to fix this without switching the domain for the client log-in portal? Thanks for everyone's help!

90% website bounce rate - What am I doing wrong?
(Also not getting any comments on any of my articles) Hi, everyone! I'm very new to the community here, but I'm honestly at my wits end. I've run an affiliate marketing site for about 8 months now, and I've consistently had issues with bounce rate. I've tried to look into it myself, but I can't seem to determine what the issue is. A couple things, though - One, a lot of my traffic currently goes to two articles which don't actually have any intent to convert. I didn't even write those articles for the sake of conversion, they were just for fun and I thought they'd be useful to people who stumbled across them. So that could be one reason my bounce rate is so high, but I'm not sure.Anyway, I've asked a LOT of people in the past (I was part of an affiliate marketing community at one point - I asked the founders, friends, strangers, and other successful affiliate marketers about this) if there's anything wrong with my content, etc. The answer has always been no, that it's good. I'm sorry. My thoughts are a bit scatterbrained here. I just don't know what to do here. If all my content for 8 months has just utterly sucked, I'd feel pretty demotivated, but at least I could know what to improve going forward. That's what I need help with from you guys. Here's my website, though I'm not sure if links are allowed: http://cheapgamesguru.com/ My latest articles aren't really getting any traffic at all yet, so I'm not really concerned with them. Specifically, ignore my Future of the HTC Vive, Crusader Kings 2, and World of Warcraft articles. Those are part of my "fun blogs" where I just write about games and such with no real intent to convert. If they start getting traffic, then I'll go and add some more internal links or CTAs. However, a couple articles that I AM having issues with are here: http://cheapgamesguru.com/top-5-best-mid-tower-cases ; http://cheapgamesguru.com/top-5-computer-case-fans-the-best-case-fans-for-your-rig ; http://cheapgamesguru.com/what-is-the-best-micro-atx-case-for-gaming-top-5-best-micro-atx-cases (The links on the Micro ATX article are currently broken - This could very well be one of the reasons! However, this trend of high bounce rates started quite some time ago, so it's still an issue) Could it be as simple as a performance problem? I haven't checked my pagespeed recently, not since I switched to a new (Faster) host. I know users are far more likely to leave if the site doesn't load within 3 seconds. Another possible reason is referral spam, of course. I've tried my very best to eliminate it as much as possible, used filtering tools, etc. but I can't seem to completely eradicate it. Thanks in advance! Ask me for any details you might need.

How can I reduce my high bounce rate?
I've recently upgraded to a WP site but i have a very high bounce rate. It is typically 75-80% and recently I saw a 95% bounce rate. I found part of the issue was I neglected to change the urls for my adwords acct but I did that weeks ago and its still very high. Last week, for 1 day only i had 18% but it shot back up when I made some code changes that didn't pan out as expected. The site is an online store and is www.cheaptubes.com I really need to fix it. my business is severely hurting. Any and all ideas are appreciated.

Bounce Rate Spike Overnight - Did anyone else notice this?
Hello Moz Community, Starting August 12th, 2015, my overall website traffic bounce rate spiked literally over night and I am trying to figure out why? My traffic increase rate remained the same.
Search Behavior | | CamiloSC
My time on page actually nearly doubled.
but my bounce rate shot up from 9% to 82%. This is the same issue for almost every page in my 500+ page website. My bounce rate in every page was always below 14%. And literally over night on August 12th, the bounce rate skyrocketed. Did something roll out around that time?
Does anyone else have this same issue that would be kind enough to share some insight?0 -
Decent Bounce Rate but extremely low visit duration and page depth?
I'm having a bit of difficulty understanding the Bounce Rate, Visit Duration, and Page Depth metrics in Google Analytics. GA is reporting that my site's bounce rate is pretty decent - currently 36%. Yet when I drill down into audience behavior engagement, I am seeing that the vast majority of visit durations are 0-10 seconds, and the page depth is only 1 for a majority of visitors. If this were the case, wouldn't my bounce rate be higher?

Seller rating in Serps
Hello everyone, I saw something weird today with my own site in Google: http://www.google.nl/webhp?hl=nl&tab=ww#hl=nl&sclient=psy-ab&q=xenon+h4&fp=534989fd828f8f2e&pws=0 The site you see position one is my site (HIDxenonverlichting.nl), you see the seller rating with the stars, but also nearly 2 rules of price information: ''Prijsklasse: Normale prijs: € 79,99 Tijdelijke prijs € 74,99 Inclusief 21% BTW & Gratis verzending!' At this site i don't even have MicroData installed for the reviews or prices, and i've never seen such a long price description in Google. So i was wondering, how could this happen, because i want this much information also at other product pages of course. But then first need to know how this happened? Regards, Yannick

.com Doman and off-shore host for an Australia company, does this hurt ratings?
We have a site based in Australia that has been using the .com domain. Recently the .com.au became available and we purchased it and use a 301 redirect. Does having a site hosted off-shore and a .com rather than .com.au for a company affect the ratings in google.com.au for Australian traffic?
