Videos impact on SEOmoz On Page Analysis
-
For several years we've heard that Google rewards pages that include videos with significantly higher page ranks, however I do not see video incorporated into the On Page Analysis. One of our competitors ranks 1st-3rd on a several keywords while the On Page Analysis tool grades them as an F for the same keywords. This competitor uses video more than any of the others, and has far more YouTube subscribers. I suspect video plays a role in their excellent SERP.
Is there a video evaluation tool within SEOmoz? If not, is one coming, or is there a reason why it would not be appropriate?
Does anyone have suggestions for incorporating the use of videos in SEO evaluations and recommendations?
Thank you,
Michael

Hmmm...what's interesting is that many folks suggest hosting it on youtube since google is now indexing youtube videos on your site. This way you get the traffic spike from youtube search, and google indexing the video.
Here's a link to see all the videos google has indexed for my site.
Thoughts?

Yeah I don't think SEOMoz has a video evaluation.
Some tips for adding video.. Host it yourself! and make it so people can embed it.. this will gain a link from the website. You can also make / submit a Video sitemap.

How to build links with really good S3 hosted video using JW Player
I have a number of really good quality videos that are embedded on my own site. Many are "how to" or "what to do if" type video guides with questions answered by experts. They were professionally shot. So that I could reap the full SEO benefit from the videos, I have them hosted via Amazon S3 and am using an embedded JW Player. We have a video sitemap and, as a result, most of the videos have already been indexed by Google and are showing up in Google video search as residing on our webpage. Now the real problem is how to get some link benefit from them. They should be viable and valuable link bait. My initial thought was to do a PR Web type press release with the video embedded in it. The problem with that is that you are limited to Youtube and Vimeo embedded video which defeats that purpose entirely. PR Newswire has different issues but the end result is the same, I can't embed those videos with them either. As far as I can tell, all I could do with a press release would be to link to the videos. Moreover, I don't even know that press releases would be that valuable in the post penguin world but the hope was that people would share the videos naturally. So, I put it to the experts. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get some link benefit from these videos? Any ideas at all? I am stumped. Any advice would be appreciated.

Video SEO - Why are my videos not being indexed?
Hello All, I work on a site that has a lot of videos. The trouble is none of them are ranking. Here is an example of a page with a video on. If you click the play button you will see But none of these videos are being indexed, as you can see here. Is it because these videos are just mp4 files, rather than being embedded players (like SEOmoz use for instance)? Would embedding videos through Viddler / Wistia / Youtube etc help? Or is there some other issue at work here? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rich

What impact will Google removing 3rd party citations from listings have on citations being ranking factors?
So now that Google are going to remove 3rd party citations from listings, will they still carry the same weight for local rankings or will this be reduced? If so, how much and when?

If you have video on your YouTube channel that someone else downloads and then reuploads to their channel, is it duplicate content (even though right now video cannot be crawled)?
