Adwords quality score is bull?
-
Is it me or is Google Adwords quality score a load of bull. I use part numbers as my keywords and have virtually the same landing page for each one. The only difference is the order of the paragraphs in my descriptions, the product attributes and the SKU. so why does one part get an 7 and the other a 5? Surely they should be the same?

Hi
I watched the video and it made some sense however both of my keywords have a similar CTR and I use dynamic keyword insertion to make my ads more relevant. Just seems a bit hit and miss to me.
Thanks for the advice anyway.

As suggested by the previous responses, click-through rate is the #1 factor in quality score. You may notice when you first add a new keyword it is assigned a certain quality score which may change quite quickly based on the CTR the keyword is achieving.
You can also see how Adwords rates each keyword for the 3 main factors, expected click-through rate, ad relevance and landing page experience by clicking on the little speech bubble next to each keyword in the Status column.

It's definitely not the easiest thing to wrap your head around, and I'm sure anyone who has ever managed a PPC campaign has thought the same thing.
When I first saw Hal Varian's video on Quality Score that gave me a better understanding.
He breaks down quality score as follows:
60% is related to CTR
30% is related to 'Relevance'
10% is landing page
The way that I've seen a lot of people talk about Quality Score & AdWords suggests that they think the landing page is a much more important part of the equation.
In my opinion, the best thing the focus on is CTR. If your clients' ads are getting clicked on more often, you're helping Google make more money. If the ads getting clicked on more often because it's more relevant to the user's search query, Google has a strong monetary incentive to serve that ad up higher. That's all very logical. Try not to get caught up in the minutiae of Quality Score. When you don't know exactly what their formula is, it can definitely get confusing/frustrating.

Hi David,
I've asked myself that question so many times. Whatever I seem to do, the quality score just seems to be random. Google has this relatively new page explaining the quality score. Check it out, they've included more factors than before. http://support.google.com/adwords/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2454010.
I called them last week to get a clearer idea of what could be causing a low quality score, and the support person told me (from what I understood) that the keyword itself might be causing the low score, independently of how you use it (whether you have good ad copy, landing page, etc.) Some keywords are just more specific and relevant than others and have a higher click through rate across all advertisers' accounts, not just your click through rate. So in your case, maybe one part number is more popular, and has a higher click through rate with you and all other advertisers than the others. That could possibly be the reason.
I hope this helps

Google AdWords Class Action Settlement?
Has anyone received and responded to a notice of class action settlement from Google Adwords? The sender (and the website it directs to) is adwordsclassaction.com. I see that there was such a thing, I am just not sure whether that domain is the official one to respond to?

Why are my Adwords Total Estimated Conversions Less than My Phone Call Conversions?
I'm having an issue with tracking some conversions in adwords. Google Adwords is saying I have 20 estimated total conversions in an account and 26 phone conversions. Adwords is saying that the phone conversions are included in the total, so I am confused as to how the part is having a higher total than the sum. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks!

Does anyone else get a crazy amount of misdials to your AdWords call extension?
Not sure how many people here also do PPC, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask. Since we added a call extension to one of our AdWords campaigns a few months ago, we have gotten a crazy amount of misdials/wrong numbers. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Here's what happens: We choose one of the numbers we own, say 888-123-4567, and set it up so it displays ADWORDS on the phone's screen when it rings. This way, our customer service and sales reps will know when they are taking an AdWords call. We type that number into the call extension settings. AdWords then assigns a different number to us, which will appear on our ads and forward to our number. Say it's 888-234-5678. Then for months, every "ADWORDS" call we get is someone trying to reach a different company at 888-234-5679 or 888-235-5678. In other words, the number they're trying to dial is one digit off from the number AdWords assigned to us. When we first reported this to AdWords before Christmas, they simply assigned us a new number. It did not help. Now we just get misdials for different companies. So are we alone in this wrong-number phenomenon?

Does an AdWord campaign affect your rankings?
Say for instance you are in the business of "lawn mower repair," and you are ranking for that keyword. If you were doing an AdWord campaign on that keyword, would that also affect your organic rankings in the SERPs for that keyword?

Adwords Confusion - Where are these clicks coming from?
Ok, I posted two images showing that my Google Adwords search settings are to receive clicks only from google's search engine, as we are doing testing on keyword behavior with a few specific keywords. The second image will show that we have somehow 7 total search clicks, but not for any of our specific keywords. I'm confused. . . and hungry. . . I'm 'confungry'. 😉 jk any thoughts are welcomed. search-1.jpg search-2.jpg

Running Adwords Campaigns to show Improvement in Organic Traffic
Hi mozers, I have a new client who contacted because his organic traffic dropped all of a sudden from 5000 visits per month to 300 visits per month. I have been reviewing his website profile and there are several reasons that take me to beleave the agency that managed his account until 3 months ago, was doing PPC to show improvement in the orgranic (SEO Service) traffic. 1. The Website was showing traffic for several highly competitive keywords 2. Most of the traffic 95% was driven to the home page with several groups of keywords 3. The website has just a few external links with anchor text not related to keywords sending traffic. Is anyone familiar with this type of practice? Thanks in advanced.
