How to increase the traffic ?
-
Hi Everyone,
I am a bit a newbie in SEO and I read different articles and comments regarding the SEO but I am a bit stuck to get traffic through www.organicur.com.
It's a really new website build through Prestashop (1-2 month).
I used the tool keyword analysis to look after keywords not to competitive.
I used the on-page optimization of Seomoz until to have A for every pages and I have started to build backlinks.
But the traffic doesn't improve at all.
Does that mean my keywords are not relevant enough ? Do I need to wait and carry on the links building.
Do I need to go through PPC ?
Thanks a lot for your reply,
K

Hi,
Thanks. I know there is a competitor for organic pharmacy but just one compare for organic beauty products and less competitive as well. Perhaps, it wasn't a such great idea to target this one.
Thanks again,
K

Hi Karine,
One of the things that's most glaring after just spending a few minutes taking a look at the site is that the first piece of the title tag on the home page is 'organic pharmacy'. Quickly looking at the Google Keyword Tool, as a phrase match, 'organic pharmacy' receives approximately 2400 searches in the US monthly. I'd suggest that's fairly low given the types of keywords that would be relevant to you. Low search volume doesn't necessarily mean low competition, but in this case it does.
What's more surprising, is that 'organic pharmacy' appears to be a competitor. If that's a conscious move, I'm not sure if I would agree with that. Buy PPC ads on their name instead if you want to be showing up when someone does a search for their name. The CPC you will pay for that word will be much less than what you would pay for your head terms.
I'm a big proponent of PPC for a variety of reasons, so I'd recommend it, especially for a new website. Beyond driving qualified traffic to your site, it will give you a much better idea as to the real search volume taking place for your target keywords. You'll also be able to get an idea as to the conversion rate of the website on the whole, and for specific target keywords. Armed with the knowledge of your conversion rates, keyword search volume, and the percentage of clicks you can expect based on a given position based on the CTR curve (image attached), it can give you an idea as to the value of optimizing your site for specific keywords.

Hi Karim,
Thank you for the advises. I will continue the work

Hi Karine
New websites will take time to develop good rankings so do not be too surprised if you are not getting the volumes of search engine traffic you were expecting at such an early stage. Continue with your link building activities as this will have a positive impact on your rankings.
I have had a look at the competition around the phrase 'organic beauty products' which you have included in your homepage title tag and there are a lot of established websites competing for this term with decent PA and DA scores.
In terms of improving your on-page optimisation, the phrase 'organic beauty products' and 'organic pharmacy' which I am presuming are important for your website are not included anywhere in your homepage body content, which will make it difficult for your homepage to rank for them.
If you have the budget for PPC and the product margins/website conversion rate are strong enough to make it profitable I would recommend it. It can be a great tool for driving traffic whilst your organic presence is still growing but also for ongoing revenue generation as the PPC ads well by attracting a high proportion of clicks for relevant search terms.
On another note, make sure you are checking the search volumes on the keywords you are targeting. If there is limited search volume you will only see limited traffic even if you rank number 1 for the term.
Hope this helps

Hi Karine,
Here are a few ideas, obviously this is early days so there is a lot more than this to do.
Looking at the site I would say for your two main category pages you need more rich text content relevant to the product category. Using images like the homepage rotating images is fine but try to have the text parts as CSS text rather than images so that Google can read it, or at least a good descriptive alt text per image in this section.
Your page titles are too long, focus on the main product keyword, this should be fairly straight-forward, do product type - product name - sitebrand, keep them below 70 characters.
The site at the moment doesn't have a lot of products, but no doubt you will build that up. However, it is a competitive area, so rather than just going for less-competitive keywords using a keyword tool that everybody uses, think about your offering and why someone should visit your site rather than go elsewhere.
You really need to have in mind what your unique selling points are and who your target audience is, then create titles and content that are relevant. Segment your offering and target specific customer types and you'll naturally find less competitive (& long-tail) potential search terms.
Yes you need to continue link-building, but do read up on the various guides and posts here about what makes a good inbound link - Quality over quantity every time.
As a new site using PPC is not a bad route to drive initial traffic, you can set limits on how much you want to spend and your type of visitor will hopefully be loyal because of your great products and service and return again and again. However, once again be aware this is a competitive area so choose your keywords for your campaign carefully. Once again this is when knowing your market and audience helps you target the right keywords.
The point is coming into a mature market like organic care products is never going to be a quick success, you need to think about getting the word out through any channel you can, good luck.

Unexplainable drop in traffic
Hello Mozzers, I am new at Moz and certainly hope you can help me!

I used to consider myself very knowledgeable in SEO since I had hundreds or maybe thousands of keywords very well ranked on Google Guatemala (www.google.com.gt) for more than a decade. That was until a year ago: November 8th, 2019... On that date, all of my rankings plummeted, never to return. At first I thought it was just a hickup from the Google Algorithm, but as days turned into weeks I became very worried, so I started doing a bunch of things: Reworked the pages (except home page) to make them responsive (I used to have two versions of each page, one for desktop and one for mobile). Removed the ads from the pages to make them faster, thinking it could be due to the speed (even if my competitors sites were slower!) Fixed thousands of 404s Disavowed thousands of bad domains and spammy URLs (I never bought a single link but there were thousands of links from forums, theglobe network, etc) Removed more than 12,000 members from my own forum who had never posted anything: about 4000 of them just had created a profile to include a link to different extenral sites. Fixed a few other technical aspects... Nothing helped. In fact, my rankings have kept going down. My content is good and unique, my site has good DA but still I get outranked and buried by several sites which don't have as much information as I have. There are NO manual actions against my site according to Search Console. As I mentioned before, I have never bought any backlinks, so all of my links should be natural (although there were thousands of links to my forum from spammy sites which I disavowed). So, I am frustrated as I really don't know what the problem is. I am giving you 3 examples of Keywords and URLs of pages that were number one for years, and now are not even on first page, so that you can see them and tell me your thoughts about what may be happening: KEYWORD: VOLCANES DE GUATEMALA
URL: https://www.deguate.com/geografia/volcanes/Los-volcanes-de-Guatemala.shtml Note: was #1, now is on 5th page. Removed all the ads to see if it would help. KEYWORD: MINISTERIOS DE GUATEMALA URL: https://www.deguate.com/artman/publish/politica_ministerios/Los-ministerios-de-Guatemala.shtml Note: was #1, now is on 2nd page. Removed all the ads to see if it would help. KEYWORD: LEYENDAS DE GUATEMALA URL: https://www.deguate.com/artman/publish/misterios-leyendas/las-leyendas-mas-famosas-en-guatemala.shtml Note: Was #1, now is on 3rd page. It's stuffed with ads, as it doesn't seem to matter wheter my pages have ads or not, and since I lost my rankings on thousands of pages at least I can probably generate a little more income like that. Thank you so much for the help you can provide!0 -
Google Manual Penalty Lifted - Why is my website still decreasing on traffic?
Hi there, I was hoping that somebody has a potential answer to this or if anyone else has experienced this issue. Our website has recently hit by a manual penalty (structured data wasn't matching the content on the page) After working hard on this to fix the issue across the site, we submitted a reconsideration request which was approved by Google a few days later. I understand that not all websites recover and it doesn't guarantee rankings will go back to normal, but it seems as if the traffic is continuing to drop at an even quicker rate. There's a number of small technical optimisations that have been briefed into the dev team such as: Redirecting duplicate versions, fixing redirects on internal links, There's also work on-page running in the background fixing up keyword cannibalization, consolidating content keyword mapping and ensuring the internal link structure is sound. Has this happened to anyone else before? If so, how did you recover? Any suggestions/advice would be really appreciated. Thank you

Is surfacing top blog posts with read more link could create a boost in traffic to main domain?
Hi mozzers, Because our blog is located on blog.example.com on powered by Wordpress and currently can't migrate it to the main domain, unfortunately. Since we would like to grow our main's domain organic traffic and would like to test an option that could help us leverage the traffic of the top blog posts content. There is a Wordpress API that would allow us to get 100-200 words(snippet of the blog post) from the blog posts into the main domain that would provide a "Read more link" linking back to the blog.

Traffic down 60% - about to cry, please help
Hiya guys and girls, I've just spent 6 months, a lot of blood sweat and tears, and money developing www.happier.co.uk. In the last weeks the site started to make a trickle of money, still loss making but showing green shoots. But then on Friday the traffic dropped due to my rankings on google.co.uk dropping. Visits: Thur 25th april = 1950 Fri 26th april = 1284 Sat 27th april = 906 So it looks like Ive been hit with some sort of penalty. I did get a warning on the 20th april about an increase in the number of 404 errors, currently showing 77. I've now remove the links to those 404 pages, ive left the 404 pages as is, as was suggested here: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-fix-crawl-errors-in-google-webmaster-tools. Could that be the reason? We have spent a lot of time on site design and content. We think the site is good, but I agree it has a long way to go but without income that is hard, so we have been struggling through. Any ideas on the reason/s for the penalty? Big thanks, Julian.

Massive decreases in traffic
Hi i've been looking at the affects of googles algorithmic updates over the last couple years and the impact on sites/competitors i have been monitoring in the space. Two sites which surprised me, in having a dramatic decline in search traffic were: kriskris.com (over 200k visitors to around 10k) only-cookware.com (from 40k visitors at its peak to only around 1000k) (semrush traffic data attached) Both sites have great quality content and social signals. The only thing i can think of is a over-optimization of anchor text, and types of links. dnrm0Oa.png cuaLzrI.png

Declining Organic Traffic despite PR, links and engagement
I have a client site that launched last June and rebranded this February 2012 as http://49thshelf.com The search traffic since Feb has been steadily declining despite some great campaigns to drive traffic and engagement. April down 40% vs. Mar May down 37% Jun down 51% Jul 16% We have a couple of challenges. The site is the only collection of Canadian-authored titles. It's like an Amazon of only Canadian titles. But it's not ecommerce, we direct traffic to other vendors like Amazon or the publisher to buy. We have 40,000 unique products on the site and the descriptions are primarily supplied by the publishers, which means it's the same content on the publisher site as Goodreads, Amazon and anyone else they share data with. Those big players like Amazon and Goodreads use user generated content to alter the descriptions but we don't have that level of activity on the site. Members create reading lists, the editorial staff curate collections on the homepage and there are interviews, blog posts and guest posts. No black hat SEO, no bad links that I can see. Great organic membership growth and interactions. Good activity from social media sites to the site. Good, trusted links from news sites and legit blogs. I don't know what to do to improve the organic traffic. July is the first month that we haven't seen 40-50% drops. Any advice is welcome, thank you!

Our site is recieving traffic for both .com/page and .com/page/ with the trailing slash.
Our site is recieving traffic for both .com/page and .com/page/ with the trailing slash. Should we rewrite to just the trailing slash or without because of duplicates. The other question is, if we do a rewrite, google has indexed some pages with the slash and some without - i am assuming we will lose rank for one of them once we do the rewrite, correct?
