FB Sharing
-
Hi everyone,
Just a quick straw poll to see what people think?
When running a FB competition is there more value in sharing the competition url on the website (a sub sub page) or sharing the homepage url with very obvious directions for the user to find the competition page?
Thoughts & comments?

In this case, the primary objective is a good user experience. Send to relevant page. A link to the homepage would be great, but even a deeper link it is still a link to your domain, so be happy with that and start planning your next program!

Competitions are being run for the benefit of brand awareness, social media interaction and retention. If there is a possible SEO "edge" to be gained with adding in something I don't see the issue with that.
Again the question is, do people think a share to a more prominent page like a homepage is more worthy from an SEO point of view than a deep sub page?
-
Lots of people try to kill rabbits with ricochet shots because they are trying to impress some SEO God.
... but they would kill a lot more rabbits by just shooting straight at them.
-
I don't disagree with either of the above points, I guess what I was really wondering is do people think there is an SEO advantage with doing one over the other?
-
If you think that your visitors value their time and you want maximum participation then send them straight to the relevant page.
If you think that your visitors like a treasure hunt then make them work to find the relevant page..... this will weed out some people and piss off others.
(What you think are "obvious directions" will not register with 100% of the people... so you are running a treasure hunt even if you think you are not.)
If you are doing this to get people to see what is offered on your homepage then forget about the contest and do something kickass that will be a permanent asset for your site. (we got 1000 visitors from FB yesterday from an article that a guy gave us three years ago - almost 200 already today and its only 8:00 AM)
-
Allow your visitors to directly land on your competition page, which you primary goal. After finishing with the Poll/Contest, they can themselves choose the page they want to visit.
Confusing the customer is loosing the customer. Be very specific. Don't let them use their brain. Just guide them

Should I thank a share on Google Plus (as a business)?
Hi, As all that manage their social channels, I often track some of the posts and how people interacted with them. My question is quite simple: As a business page - Should I thank someone for sharing my post?

I assume it would make them feel worthy and will probably cause them to share again... However, will my page's followers see that I thanked someone (and will doing so annoys them if I now thank 10 different people)...? Who sees a comment my page puts on another person's share? Thanks0 -
How do you calculate Share of Voice?
Traditional Share of Voice (SOV) used to be calculated by how much your industry on the whole spent on marketing and how much you're spending on marketing. But how do you calculate SOV for the web with different page rankings for multiple keywords, social mentions, and so on? Anyone have any ideas?

What is the impact of the new google+ share button on SERP
Hello mozzers, I'm currently wondering what will be the impact of the new social signal ( Google+ Share ) on SERP an organic traffic. As we all know by now , Facebook share have an higher social signal authority then the Facebook like on SERP @Randfish posted some great info at: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/facebook-twitters-influence-google-search-rankings Since Google rolled out the new Google+ Share social signa at : https://developers.google.com/+/plugins/share/?utm_source=blog&utm_medium=gplusdevelopers&utm_campaign=shareplugin I was wondering if somebody had the chance to do some clear testing on the SERP impact of this new social signal even if its a fresh addition to the social signals. What is best way of using facebook share
I recently launched a scrollable web comic at www.shoutout.co.in. In space of 2 days after launch, i got more than 100 likes. While this is great number, i am not sure if this is best usage of options provided by facebook. Which option is best share/like/share-with-comment option? Currently i only have "like" implementation. Is this giving less probability of visibility to friends than "share-with-comment" option? stats and numbers from your experience/campaigns will help.

Does a +1 or Share appear in SERPs site-wide, or only for the page that is specifically shared?
Take the example Danny Sullivan posted: http://searchengineland.com/how-being-friends-on-google-leads-to-better-rankings-87376 In this case, Ford shared www.ford.com, and its friends and followers see that in the SERPs. Hoever, how does that compare with, say, sharing http://www.ford.com/cars/mustang/? Does the entire domain reap the benefit, or just that page? Would people see a "Ford shared this" beneath a search result pointing to ford.com (the home page), even if Ford had only shared this specific interior page? Or is it too soon to know for sure how this is all going to work?
