Google+ Is this listing Claimed or Not?
-
I'm working on a dentist website. I logged in using their gmail account. I then searched for the practice name with the city and state then found their listing. I clicked on the link that has the Google reviews and it brought me to their Google+ page.
If I click on Manage this page, it takes me to my client Google places dashboard page where I can edit some information.... even though I am having a hard time uploading images. Getting a "Cannot upload images at this time" Error
The weird thing is that if I hit the browser back button and then Manage this page again, it takes me to the page where I can claim the business.
I click on the blue link that says "If you own this place, claim it and edit it directly", I get a message that says "You may only access listings that you own. If you created this listing with a different Google Account, please log into that account and try again. If you've deleted this listing, you may create it again in Google Places
Any clues on what is going on? Please see images attached.

Hi Bob,
I honestly think you will be best off posting the full scenario in the Google And Your Business Forum in case any bugs are involved. In the meantime, here are some resources that might help:
http://marketing-blog.catalystemarketing.com/missing-google-places-google-local-images.html
http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/business/FcPdPDzbMbk/xJWAFVeRJrkJ
The Local Search Forum article is especially good, but I've included the others in case they have some info in them you haven't seen before.

Just to clarify I am using my clients email and password to access their Google Places account. I use a second computer for this because I hate logging out of my own gmail account on my main machine cause it closes my email and all my Google Docs that I have open.
The Google Places aspect of things seems to be working fine, except for the fact I can't upload photos. I am choosing a photo from my computer. Still getting "We were unable to store this image. I searched the web for this error and seems that others were getting this message too from time to time. I have been unable to upload photos for 3 days now. The next goal was to try to see if I can upload photos into Google+ but this is where the confusion begins
This brings me to the Google+ page issue. So I figured out that when I log in as my client and end up at the Gmail screen, I click the +You in the Google menu and it takes me to a page that says Join Google+ by creating your public profile. So apparently, there is no Google+ page under my clients login and password.
What I don't understand is that when I search for my client by name, city and state in Google, I see their listing in the SERP and I see they have 5 reviews. When I click where it says "5 Google Reviews, it goes to a page that looks like a Google+ page. And this is the imaged that I attached on my original post. When I click "Manage this page" it takes me to the Google places Dashboard (My clients, not mine)
If I click the back button on the browser and then click "Edit business details" instead of "Manage this page" it goes to the screen that has a link that says, "If you own this place, claim it and edit it directly" When I do this, a sceen comes up and says "This Listing is Unavailable" and that someone else may own it.
On one hand, it looks like the Google+ page has not been claimed, but on the other hand, it looks like it has cause Google says "This Listing is Unavailable"

Visit http://www.google.com/placesforbusiness on the client's login. You'll probably see the listing on the Control Panel.
The issue with the images is just a bug when you select "Upload from website" rather than upload them from your computer. Download the images and upload them.
But then when you've confirmed you own the site, setup a Google+ Local account. http://www.google.com/local/add - it'll ask you for a phone number, the info from your Places listing should pop up. Select it. Don't create a new listing. If it doesn't come up, stop now.
In a convoluted way, this will eventually give you a Google Places listing with Google+ functionality.

Bob,
When you say "...If I click on Manage this page, it takes me to my client Google places dashboard page where I can edit some information.... "
I assume you are editing info within that Google+ account. I also assume when you say it opens "my client Google places" you are talking about the one where YOU have put in all of your clients to manage?
If you logged in as them through their Gmail account and are able to edit, I don't see how your client page would be up??? But, that said, it appears that when you use the back button you are somehow leaving their account which you logged in for and Google is picking up the cookie for your other accounts.
The Google+ account in screen shot is a verified account with Google. What you could try is a different computer without any cookies from your agency.
Best,
-
In order to make changes to a Places listing you need to be the verified owner. Under places.google.com you should see the listing (if it is not verfied, then it will show this as well).
I have had similar issues - multiple duplicate listings and incorrect information and I was not able to resolve the issue via Google online tools (such as http://support.google.com/places/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=177852) and had to resort to my GA account manager to get it resolved.

Good or Bad - Google reviews from the one IP?
Hello, our client wants to place an iPad in their foyer where they invite customers to review via Google / Facebook. My concern is that having too many reviews from the same IP (and esp the business' IP) will look suspicious to Google (be it now, or in the future when the algorithm changes). Do you think Google collect the IP's of reviews? Any thoughts?

Places for business vs. Google+ personal profile
I am still trying to figure out Places and Google+. Could someone please help me understand how my Google+ profile (that it attached to and can be accessed through my gmail account) interacts with my Places page (which requires my gmail credentials to administer, but can only be accessed through the Places page itself)? Do my posts on my personal profile enhance my Places listing? Any help would be appreciated.

Google 'Author' tag question (Guest Blogging)
Hi, It seems like im seeing more and more about the Author tag, its now in Webmaster Tools and Google+. If your guest blogging, is it a good idea to include the Author link back to your Google+ account? If your Google+ account is also connected to your website and Google confirms they can see the connection does the Author links help with ranking when you push them back to the connected Google+ account?

How are Google Plus pages related to Google Plus Local pages?
How are Google Plus pages related to Google Plus Local pages and what is the best way to join/link them? e.g. if I go to Starbucks Google Plus page https://plus.google.com/117575809843355974839/posts, where can I see their store locations or google Places pages? If I go to a Google Places page from Google Maps - which now takes you to a Google Plus 'Places' page - how is that Google Plus Places page related to that companies main Google Plus page - I can't see a way to go between them. See: https://plus.google.com/117861970252906134982/about?gl=au&hl=en Is there a way to connect these two kinds of pages for a business?

Are Facebook page updates indexed in Google search?
I seem to remember an update where Google said it was going to include Facebook page updates into Google search, but perhaps that was a deal that fell through? If updates ARE appearing in Gooogle search, how do I troubleshoot a Facebook page where they are not?

Is facebook and twitter always a good idea to promote a website and improve Google rankings?
I'm attempting to promote a fresh seafood market / restaurant here on the Sunshine Coast, Australia. I have not found a lot of examples of people using Twitter and Facebook to promote this type of business here. Is it hard to justify the time for return here? One benefit I thought for twitter is we could have tweets displayed on site giving us some dynamic content which would hopefully keep Google spider coming back more regularly is this correct? Is there any link building advantage to using these social media sites?
