Ranking Factor - Privacy Policy
-
Hello there,
Do you think Google looks at privacy policies as a ranking factor especially when websites use analytics that record a user's entire session?
Obviously a small factor like this would only have a minor impact on website performance but I am curious to know if it's actually in the algorithm.

Agree totally with Gerd. If they were a ranking factor, many sites could potentially be penalized for duplicate content as many of them are boilerplated. Toss this into google to see the amount of dupes:
Like most website operators, company collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. company purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how company visitors use its website. From time to time, company may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.

Not the bots, but if your site undergoes a manual review, "trustworthy signals" such as existence of company contact details, privacy policy, terms and conditions and any security seals will certainly provide more credibility.
I don't thank the content of any policies will have any relevance (it's impossible for reviewers to know legal constructs across every country in the world).

No matter what we seem to do, we can never get higher up on Googles ranks. What gives?
We are in independent car dealer in a small(ish) town in Arkansas. No matter what we do, we can never seem to get past the second or third page on Google's ranks. We have a blog, we pay for SEO help from dealer vendors, we have consistent information on our site, etc. etc. . I'm at a loss. I don't know what else to do. Based on our Moz Site Crawl report, we have 185 pages that have duplicate content. However, these are pages that publish our auto check reports for inventory that potential customers request from our site. I guess these auto check reports expire because when I click on the link from the Moz report it says it can no longer be displayed and to contact the dealer (http://www.rathautoresources.com/autocheck.aspx?vin=1C6RR7KT4DS539140)

Had suspicious spike in Adsense clicks, next day site ranking tanks
Yesterday, one of my sites had extreme Adsense clicks for several hours in the morning, which brought it up to CTRs of around 120%. My normal CTR is about 10-15%. It added several hundred dollars income over and above my normal amount. After that, it went back to normal. I have waited to see if Google would adjust the income down, as someone or some bot seemingly clicked the heck out of the site's ads. Nothing has been adjusted; it's been 24 hours. Question #1: what usually causes this type of insane clicking to occur (i.e. competitors messing me?) Then, today I noticed something else disturbing. I cannot find my site in the top 100 SERPs for the main keyword. I was at #1 for a couple years, then, when I changed themes from Thesis to Genesis (site otherwise exactly the same) a couple months ago, I bounced around various positions on the first page. In the last couple weeks we've been bouncing between the teens and the thirties. Two days ago we were at #15. (the site is still indexed when I use "site:" to check. It seems awfully coincidental that yesterday I had the Adsense click explosion, and today I'm not even in the top 100 for the first time in my pretty stable two-year history, and have no idea how far behind 100 I am. I went to Google Webmaster Tools and see no errors or warnings relating to this. Adsense has not sent me any messages. So... Question #2: does Google search apply some sort of penalty to site that have suspicious Adsense clicking? By the way, I don't have any funny business going on with any bad SEO practices, it's all above board, and I have thousands of real readers each day Liking and commenting on the pages. It's a very real site. Note: I have been checking the ranking each day via a Google Incognito window and searching for the term. Of course I use MOZ but I do the Incognito search for a quick real time check, which I've found to be accurate.

Best way to measure local search keyword rank
I have several clients that have a regional or local presence and want to track their rankings for various keywords, but only in the areas they are located in. What are the best ways to track keyword rank in specific locations or regions of the US?

Strange Behaviour - Varying rankings across browsers and devices
Hello, I noticed something quite strange over the last week with one of my keywords. I'll explain the lead up to this so it makes more sense. I started SEO work for a client about 3 months ago. One of the keywords I'm trying to increase their ranking for is "auto body calgary". I made a specific landing page for this keyword so it could be better targeted. After I made this landing page I saw their root domain (not the landing page) increase about 10 rankings to number 9 in 2 months. It hung at number 9 for about a month, and then the last month it has decreased to rank 15. For interest sake I searched "auto body calgary" on multiple computers and browsers. On one of the computers I used Safari and my landing page showed up in the number 2 position. On my mobile phone and personal laptop I used Safari and it showed to root domain ranked at 15. I used Google to search every time and wasn't logged in to my Google account on either of the searches. The only thing I've done in the last month is updated some of their directory submissions so they are more consistent. Out of this I have two questions: Why would different browsers show considerably different rankings and pages for a keyword? Since my landing page is more targeted to "auto body calgary" is Google trying to show that page instead of the root domain? (my root domain has considerably more authority than this landing page) Thanks to anyone who can offer insight!

More Traffic From Lower Rankings?
I have access to analytics for two different sites that rank for the same keyword. Strangely, the site that ranks on page 3 gets three times as much traffic as the site that ranks on page 1 (rankings according to multiple SEO tools as well as my own browser). How is this possible?

X2 Google Analytics affect page rank ?
Hi there, If you had 2 Google Analytics Accounts one to the main site and another to the blog, could this affect the page position in Google? We've suddenly noticed a drop in our KWs and it was shortly after we added another Google Analytics Account. The blog has 68% Bounce rate and the main site has always been about 48%. Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks Paul

SEOmoz ranking off
In my last SEOmoz rankings update one of my keywords went from 1 to not in the top 50. This keyword is my brand name. It makes no sense that SEOmoz would say that it ranks not in the top 50 when I went to check it out on Google, we're still ranked number 1. I thought that this was very odd that the ranking would be so off. Has anyone else has this issue. uALPO uALPO.png
