Recovery from Penguin removing internal urls permanently replace with new

Since I was hit with Penguin back in April, but with this last update Oct. 5th I did see a very slight recovery, I was thinking about dumping some of my old URL's which contain backlinks which I can't get removed that seem spammy. I was thinking of keeping the page intact but replace with an entirely new URL and NOT 301 redirect. So basically starting over with that URL that way the backlinks points to a dead url.
Any thoughts?

You are 100% correct. This is how you dump links! You must remove the page and let it 404.
Won't guarantee that you will recover if you did link building to your homepage though, which is why you should never point links to your homepage.

Risky but could do the trick. You should analyse each page separately and see if any actually have good links going to them - if not then its worth a try (as long as there arent lots and lots of pages, doing them one or two at a time might work nicely).
The advantage here is that if there are good links coming to the page, it will be MUCH easier to get a legitimate website to change the URL of the link than it would be to get the bad links removed.
If there are bad links going to specific pages it might also be worth trying to block the bots from accessing the specific pages. Obviously if your homepage has lots of bad links then this could be a bigger issue...

If those pages have mostly bad links pointing to them (i.e. you won't be losing any good links) I'd say go for it - it's worth a try and very well may help!

To be honest we all know that penguin is quite difficult to handle so maybe it can work but there are an equal chance that it is not going to work...
Well I like the idea of dumping some URLs that contain fishy links...and create entire new pages...but what if the penguin is on the domain level and not on the page level? I think in that way this tactic might not work...

Odd Link Removal Request
Unless I'm missing something, having gotten into trouble... the company in question is not doing a great job at link removal. Here's an email my client received: Hi Webmaster, I work for xxxxxxxxxxx and our site has recently been penalized by Google for an unnatural link profile that violates Google's Quality Guidelines. As part of an effort to get back in their graces, we are removing all links to our website so we can start fresh. We are making changes to our site to build better content for our audience. It can be bad for the site if I use various items to create links to a page that represents a specific keyword? The articles are relevant and anchor text is not only done on the keyword, but also by using words near the keyword in question.

i have been building links for the past month or so and google has still not added my links. my website has been up and working for 7 years now with 1000's of entries a year and it is mostly indexed. but i cant seem to get my new backlinks to be added. any expert advice?

Will 404-ing a URL neutralise any bad incoming links?
We're cleaning up one of our sites which was affected by Penguin. If we rename an example page1.html (which has 400 bad incoming links) to page2.html (with no 301 redirects), will Google disregard the poor links entirely? So, page1.html will return a 404 page. Many thanks for your help. James P.S. I am aware that we may lose any positive link juice from any 'good' links which come in to page1.html.

New website, small business, niche market --- what's my best link building strategy?
Hi everyone, We are a small company manufacturing a niche product (indoor playground equipment), our new English website (www.funlandiaplaygrounds.com) has just been launched 2 months ago, before that we didn't even have a website in English. As the international sales manager of such a small company, I have to do all the international marketing jobs including SEO, but before this I'm almost a noob on SEO. According to the latest SEO theory and numerous posts I've read here, links from these directories carry very low value, and solely relying on these links may even cause penalty to the website, but the reality is, all these competitors rank on the top as a result of these "spammy" links. For example this website www.aileplay.com that has the highest PA of 64 and rank on the first page on the search result of indoor playground equipment, has tons of spammy links. That is the situation we are facing now, then my questions is: As a small business in such a niche market, what is our best strategy to rank well in a reasonable time, say 3 months to 6 months? I do not think our competitors are very strong and hard to beat, I believe we will beat them in content creation for sure, but what should we do in link building? should we start to get directory links now, as it obviously works for them? Or should we first create more attractive content, then use these content to get natural links BEFORE we submit for directory, as recommended by most link experts here? Lead Generation Sources Affected by Penguin?
Hi! My company used to receive dozens of qualified leads from paid listings in directories that were relevant to our services. Lately, these leads have dropped dramatically. For those of you who use directories as a lead source (rather than simply for link building), have you noticed anything similar? How are you coping with this? Remove links after Penguin?
My site did not get hit. I am worried that Google will come back and get me for those anchor-text links I built a while back. They are of low to medium quality guest posts. Should I remove my old low-quality links? What about those on sites and pages that have been deindexed by Google? Any point in removing those? I know we can only speculate at this point, but would really appreciate some opinions on this. Has the trend in the past been a slight rollback after a big algorithm update like this? Or could we expect to see more and more sites being penalized? -Mathias

Does google extract out keywords from links that use the url as the anchortext?
If someone formats a link like so: http://www.somedomain.com/keyword1-keyword2/keyword3.php Would you still get a similar anchor text benefit to this link as if it was formated like so: somedomain keyword1 keyword2 keyword3 what i mean is, does google extract out keywords from links that use the url as the anchortext?
