Avoiding duplicate content with multi-lagusage site
-
Hi,
We have a client in China that is looking to create three versions of the same website, English, Chinese and Korean. They do not want to use a translation plugin like Google translate, preferring to have the pages duplicated.
What is the best way to do this bearing in mind that the site needs to be found in all three languages.
Would also appreciate if anyone knows of a good hosting company that has English support on the Chinese main land.
Thanks
Fraser

First, good move by client to not use translation plug in IMO.
So, you have a Chinese site in Chinese and you are adding English and Korean or, it is a new venture? (server question made me think this). Good question on server hosting.
The answer is based on what all you want to accomplish: Is the site to be a multi lingual site, multi regional sit, or both?
If you are wanting to be multi regional then your client is wanting to rank in Baidu for China, Naver - Korea, and Google US/UK/AU, etc. Or, for multi lingual, you could be just looking to sell to disparate people living in China. For both, you get the pic.
HERE Is a great GWT link for setup of domains/sub domains/directories, etc Note this has an excellent table further down.Avoiding duplicate content can be accomplished multiple ways and Google has made some real strides with the use of rel-alternate-hreflang link elements
So, you have a bit of reading, but if you can supply a few answers, we can help you out.
All the best,

Has anyone transferred a site from WordPress to Webflow?
We're thinking about making the move, but I'm (mildly) concerned about SEO implications.

How does adding ecommerce to a site affect SEO? What are the negative and what are the positives?
We are thinking of adding ecommerce to our website as a service to our customers. We generate most of our leads through online quote requests but heard that it may be beneficial to our SEO if we add ecommerce for a few products. Is this true? Does anyone have tips on best and worst SEO ecommerce practices?

What's the point of an EU site?
Buongiorno from 18 degrees C Wetherby UK 🙂 On this site http://www.milwaukeetool.eu/ the client wants to hold on to the EU site despite there being multiple standalone country sittes e.g. http://www.milwaukeetool.fr & http://www.milwaukeetool.co.uk Why would you ever need an EU site? I mean who ever searches for an EU site? If the client holds on to the eu site despite my position it's a waiste of time from a search perspective is the folowing the best appeasment? When a user enters the eu url or redirects to country the detected, eg I'm in Paris I enter www.milwaukeetool.eu it redirects to http://www.milwaukeetool.fr. My felling this would be the most pragmatic thing to do? Any ideas please,

What's the best way to structure original vs aggregated content
We're working on a news site that has a mix of news wires such as Reuters and original opinion articles. Currently the site is setup with /world /sports etc categories with the news wire content. Now we want to add the original opinion content. Would it be better to start a new top /Opinion category and then have sub-categories for each Opinion/world, Opinion/sports subject? Or would it be better to simply add an opinion sub-category under the existing news categories, ie /world/opinion? I know Google requests that original content be in a separate directory to be considered for inclusion in Google news. Which would be better for that? Regarding link building, if the opinion sub-categories were under the top news categories, would the link juice be passed more directly than if we had a separate Opinion top category?

Hello Mozland, I'm looking to have a mobile site built. We have a fair amount of traffic coming from smart phones, tablets etc and want to capture this traffic better. Do you have any advice on how to have it built properly, if/how it can be optimised, what good features to include, or anything else you think might be of help? Many thanks Martin

Lazy Loading Content and SEO
I'v been seeing a lot of websites use a technique to present content to website visitors when the scroll down the page called "Lazy Loading". Does this hinder SEO and indexing since the content is not actually on the page until the user acts/requests it?
